Summoner Wars Catch All

edit: Pacman! nice little endgame there. I never expected anyone to use that charging hero. Next time I won't be so lazy with my summoner :-)

Thanks, would have been nicer if it had hit on 1 more roll :p

I had some horrible luck with card draws that game, all I could get in the beginning were events. Also I blew one big early decision, when I decided to discard a ballista for magic. The next turn I could have played it, loaded it up with both heroic feats, and had an open shot on your summoner at 5 strength. Oh well, c'est la vie!

For anyone who wants a lesson in the Phoenix elves, I suggest a game against Hereafter, he is nastily effective with them.

Decided to branch out in a couple of games and try the Fallen Kingdom. The Tundra Orcs are fun, but I need a break from their "live by the sword, die by the sword" tactics.

Also, it's enormously confusing to play a faction against itself. I keep mistaking enemy units for mine, and vice versa. I really wish there was an undo function for non-random actions like moving. I completely screwed up a turn because of this, and in this game one wasted turn feels like a death knell.

+1 to the wish for undo. Yet another reason why Le Havre for iOS is so great.

Hahaha I froze one of my own units. I'm da best.

Hey Pacman, good match. Now you know to save 6 magic points always

If anyone wants another opponent, send me an invite. I just got the game, although I've played the paper version a few times. I'm Aristophan on GameCenter.

I keep thinking this game has an undo button like hero academy, but no that would be too convenient wouldn't it playdek.

Good game, oily! That was the twelfth game I've finished to your one - I've sent you a rematch request using a deck I've never tried.

5 summoner spells in a round? You played 5 summoner spells in the same round.

You are freaking kidding me.

@drdoak, GG!

Good game Fedaykin98, I had a feeling I wasn't going to win that one. especially as there were quite a few moves I regretted as soon as i made them, But there's only one way to learn i guess.

Nice game, pacman. I don't feel like I'm putting up much of a challenge for you!

Well, that game went pretty perfectly for me (outside of the move where I confused myself and hit my summoner with Gror). But rest assured that our games have been plenty challenging. I loaded up a new deck I haven't played before for the rematch invite I sent, so it might be a good chance for you to get some revenge :p

Wow, a real bruising game between Boudreaux and I. Some nice rolls for him last turn (four 5's from four dice to off my champion about to tear into his summoner), have it looking pretty dicey for me, my summoner only on 1 health, but finally cleared my lines. Let's see what craziness happens next!

Enjoying the games with you guys, trying to decide how many concurrent games I can mentally manage.

Am I missing something obvious? I get notifications when it's my turn, but I don't see anything obvious from the game list screen that indicates whose turn it is.

(GC ID: ben.rankin)

When I pull up my list of games, I look at the names of the players. If my name is in green, that's a game where it's my turn.

I just completely bungled my turn by not unfreezing my Summoner. Tried to salvage by getting lucky with the Fighter, but alas. Twas not to be. I should have taken out your Smasher, as it is I'm going to have to get lucky on your roll or it's game over.

Is summoner wars crashing anyone else's ipad?

Are you crashing starting an online game?

I was just going to post about that. I can't start a new game any more. Every time I go to Create Game, it crashes.

If I recently ended a game with someone and haven't sent out a new invite, that's why.

That seems to be a common bug. I resolved it by deleting the app, reinstalling it and restoring purchases. I have also seen that you can make it go away by starting an offline game. After that you should be able to go back and start an online game.

No, just launching the app. I think it's hanging when it tries to log into game center or the SW servers and it locks up my whole machine.

Maybe you're logged onto gamecenter twice? Once on Your phone and once on your iPad?

Also, try a reboot first if you haven't tried it yet.

I find the lack of undo, disturbing.

It is at least teaching me what dumb moves look like.

EDIT @Stratego - Ouch, that was a bad end for my summoner.

OK, have now played 2 games against the AI, lost, and am really enjoying this. At some point I'll buy additional decks but in the meantime feel free to hit me up so I can lose my first 50 games quickly. Should be down as maqusan.

[edit] Discovered I needed to both set up a game centre ID - which I had not yet done - and make an in-app purchase.

Done both now and "Online" is still greyed out. I may be missing something.

[edit again] Aaaand now it works. As you were, people.

At the very least, I wish you could move all of your units and THEN confirm them all at once, rather than one by one. I have made so, so many blunders because I misjudged positioning. I've also screwed up the timing of event cards - played one when I should have played a different one first. It makes me really appreciate playing physical board games with understanding opponents where you get a few mulligans and take backs when you screw up and immediately realize it.

HEY! How does the Undead Summoner heal himself! No fair!

My biggest grip with event cards is that there is no alert for the ones that give you discounts on common units. SO many times I have bought units, then seen the Event card and thrown my iPad across the room. Into a pile of cushions.

Yup, been there too.

Well, to be fair, you can just check the event cards you drew at the beginning of the turn. I mean, I understand a lot of the complains regarding UI and so on, but there is such a thing as TOO much hand-holding. I try to plan out my turn before summoning anything.

A la Tundra Orcs' "Reinforcements" card? Yeah, thanks SW for letting me waste all this magic to summon units, even though that Reinforcements card right there in my hand would have let me do it for free. Fallen Kingdom has a similar card (Legions of the Dead) that is also easy to screw yourself out of.

I'm to the point now where I consciously look closely at every card in my hand at the start of every turn, just so I don't do this. And think carefully about where I want to move everyone. And how the sequence of my turn is going to work (summon, events, move, attack). I have found myself at times writing little paper notes to myself at the end of my turn that tell me what I'm supposed to do on my next turn. Which is kind of ridiculous. Granted, that's partly my fault for playing six different games simultaneously.
