NCAA Football 2013 game catch-all

I tried a 57 yard FG and came up a several yards short with Michigan's kicker. So kick strength may be good.

If by several you mean 20, then I agree with this assessment.

No, it landed well into the endzone.

Jayhawker, let's play a game on XBL and see how it plays.

I enjoyed the demo and the Super LB's and psychic QB's seem to be gone, but wow the man coverage is pretty tight - the receivers dont seem to lose the DBs as well and I swear I have seen a DB cut BEFORE the WR - so maybe still some psychic powers remain.

I noticed this as well. On the whole however it the defense AI seems much improved in that there seems like not quite so many psychic powers coverage.

Unfortunately it seems like this was their only way to make defenses better because now this appears to have made defenses less effective. I stand by what I've said before. They need to redo the engine. AI, specifically. Somehow they completely failed in the transition from last gen to this gen. I remember it being better.

I need to go back and play a last gen game to see if I'm misremembering or if stuff like this is true.

4:31 of that video is one of my biggest complaints about Madden/NCAA. Kick return teams, where everyone is blocking awesomely, until you get about 5-10 yard away from the blocks, and then EVERYONE decides to let their man go.

Not 1 player.
Not 1 player followed by another.
All 3-4 blockers simultaneously letting their man go.

Any NCAA 13 League plans?

I might be able to jump back in this year.

I felt like kick returns improved a lot last year. I think I ran 1 or 2 back even. I know I've ran a ton to midfield (past the 40). I mean a ton. There were way better lanes in '12 than before.

Hopefully the improved blocking in 13 improves that as well.

But the comment still holds for '12: your blockers don't even try to hold their blocks. They give up after a certain time.

Filthy skimmer!!

Yeah, we're planning a "BCS" league, where we're looking at some of the higher rated schools (though not too high) and hopefully another 2* league where we start with 2* or lower schools.

Been playing the early access game the past 2 days. There is an achievement for winning the national title with either UMASS, Texas State and one other. I am trying it with UMASS. I redid the schedule as much as it would let me and putting Top 10 teams in every date I could. First week I played Bama and beat them 31-28 with about 10 seconds to go.

Next up is Florida State. Trouble is, the game now freezes every time while loading. I can play any other mode, but if I load up my UMASS save, it's a huge no-go.

Not liking this...

I should post in last year's thread but I don't want to bump it and have someone click the wrong thing tomorrow.

Playing NCAA 12 again to finish up my probable last dynasty season. And as usual, Louisville always has trouble with that end-of-the-year game in South Florida. In what is probably my last regular season game ever I got a classic score of 1963. I thin my previous high was 900-something. Here's the recap:

Rain game, of course. First couple drives they had big run plays of 30-40 yards, but then I clamped down and held them to FGs. I could not get my running game going at all. On their 3rd possession I force a fumble at midfield when their QB scrambles away from pressure. After a first down, I run a WR screen and break loose for 35-yd TD down the sideline. 7-6 UL. Right before half I am pushing for a drive and overthrow my guy for an INT. 7-6 at half.

3rd quarter they finally get their first TD. USF 13-7. I am running a QB rollout near midfield. I see my slot receiver wide open 10 yards downfield, but I go for it all to the primary. Overthrown, and picked off by the safety. Very next play I take control of my DB and INT them right back! Alright, momentum on my side, clock ticks over to the 4th quarter. I switch away from my aggressive clock management and start what I think will be the game-winning drive to leave them as little time as possible. I get first and goal with about 90 seconds left in the game. A couple runs put me on the 6 yard line, 3rd and goal. I run this beautiful crossing pattern, my slot WR is wide open a yard deep in the end zone! The ball sails right in front of him, no effort to catch it at all.

4th and goal, I get intercepted and they return it to the 20 or so. Luckily since I was trying to run it down to score, I have all 3 timeouts. 3 runs later and a punt and I have the ball back with almost 80 yards to go, 30 seconds, and no timeouts. TE post, 35 yards. Hurry up. TE double-move outside, breaking down the sideline for the TD... but forced out of bounds at the 7. 9 seconds left. Slot WR, cuts left across the middle, almost the exact same play from the last possession... caught, TD!

Extra point to win... CPU calls all three timeouts to ice my kicker. Make it anyway. Lob up the kickoff to force them to return it. Time expires. 14-13, UL, probably securing my berth in the Championship. (Alabama-Auburn are 1-2 ahead of me, and play each other) Whew.

Will be a nice way to remember NCAA 12. Now on to 13 tomorrow!

Guys over at operation sports don't really like this years addition. Defense is the main complaint, safeties will let a wr go right by him, too many sacks, and the ai is broke when it comes to calling plays.

With that said I'm still keeping my preorder through amazon. Enjoy the GWJ leagues too much.

Do any of the "last gen" engine games play on modern consoles through BC? Even on say the PSP? I'm interested in checking out a last gen game in part because of these AI issues. I feel like they turned super linebackers and psychic DBs and didn't bother to fix the AI.

EDIT: Also, the seams are even more unstoppable now. I remember when Jayhawker gave me a hard time for using the seam routes so much my explanation was that they didn't *always* work and the AI cheated on other routes. Now the seams are completely unstoppable AND other AI is broken as well.

I didn't skim. I just posted without reading. I knew you guys would forgive me!

You have to take the what you read at OS with a LARGE grain of salt. The sacks are not a big deal, and I think will be tweaked a bit with sliders. The AI has been fine calling plays against me.

Every game drops the ball to some degree, and NCAA 13 is still solid. But you get a bunch of folks ready to tear it down, and they will overblow every weakness.

The safeties letting WR's get long is something I've seen too much of. I set an NCAA record throwing bombs with Dayne Crist to DJ Beshears on TCU. That said, I replayed the game and lost 24-14. It was a GREAT game that I blew a 17-14 lead. I just didn't cheese.

I have read that some guys are having more luck with that issue on Heisman. I'm hopeful that can get fixed. But NCAA 11 was awful for letting guys chuck it up for ridiculous stats, and NCAA 12 was not much better. Most folks just play the game right, and it isn't an issue. I don't think it will be an issue for us here.

I'm gonna grab a copy of the game today. It just so happens my fiancé has plans with her childhood friend that's in town, so I might even get to play tonight.

Ill be on tonight to play. Waiting for my copy from amazon.

Feel free to send an invite if you see me on.

Popped in the game after lunch. Went through settings and so on. Figured I'd tinker with RtG maybe since I haven't seen any rosters yet. Not even sure if it's the same as last year where you couldn't use custom rosters without renaming. So I thought I'd try.

Entering my player name in RtG create-a-player and the menu locks up. Game completely frozen. Had to power off the PS3 manually.

Not an encouraging first few minutes.

EA Sports.... Its in the game

I'm hoping to come home tonight to find a brand new shiny NCAA13..............................

..................that I won't get a chance to play until Monday.

Updated OP with link for you, kush.

I've officially played one game. It feels...well, very much like NCAA '12. Which is fine, for the most part.

One thing bugged me: moption blur on my guy as he gets up from the pile? Really, EA??

Thanks Stele, you rock! It's a shame we're all not on the same gaming system. We need to start a 360-fund to get you to the other side!

Does it take a couple days before Amazon gets the pre-order promo codes out?

I got my email today.

Where is a good roster download for 360?

That would be the only way at this point. Or if my wife kicks me out of the house for playing too many video games, I suppose I could buy one then. But that's not the option I'm hoping for.

Mine showed up about an hour and 10 minutes before this post.

Mine showed up at the same time yours did, I was just 25 minutes to impatient.
