What's wrong with you? Linking to an IGN video? No, I'm not giving you crap about IGN, I'm giving you crap because you didn't post the 1080p video CPP uploaded:

Full screen prettiness!!!

Missile porn!

The 1080p version wasn't uploaded at that point
I was gonna edit it in later.

Kyrie, thanks for reporting in. Congratulations on the victory.

They make the best trailers.

Hey guys as a listener to the giant bomb podcast i've heard tale of the insanity that was goonsquad on Eve, is there a write up or summation video of the attack on the trade hub and the resulting changes to Eve's economy because of it?

This is the type of game that i wish i had the time and patience to play do to these awesome stories but i just can't do it. But would love to read about it.

So I haven't played EVE since like 2008. Back then I was in a small corp and was just barely able to fly a Hurricane.

From the outside it seems to have improved a lot over the years, but my free time has died down a lot. Can I play EVE casually at this point? few hours a week and the occasional weekend?

I'm not sure that I would say that it's improved...there are lots of things that are still unaddressed, mainly because the big alliances aren't interested in them. A lot of the recent changes around the industrial side have not remotely been thought through, and the new inventory system has had 14 patches in about 3 weeks in an attempt to get it to work.

To me the game has just become more and more bloated with unnecessary additions (captain's quarters, dressing up avatars). I'd love to know how much effort has been wasted on Dust 514, for example.

Since 2008 the biggest chance is the skill queue - no more setting your alarm clock to change skills

I'm actually interested in Dust 514 and feel like it might be motivation enough to get back into EVE casually... but again casual and EVE don't fit together in my head... maybe if I joined a major corp that didn't mind my small amount of play time, but I don't know if those exist.

Since I'm only in it for the space combat and not the mining or shipping parts I think I could get away with it... but it depends on the goals of the corp... and solo-ing wasn't much back in the day.

And if you have a look at next week's update....what have we got.

New model for 1 ship (the drake - not rebalancing it though, apparently)
Faction warfare...clothes for your doll
Altered payment method to allow you to directly buy aurum....so you can buy clothes for your doll
Changes to the looks of Minnie boats
Alterations to mining barges, because as expected by everyone but CCP, the amount of people mining has not increased despite the ludicrous changes in the loot rules. Good job they employ an economist.

Colour me unimpressed.

I occasionally get the urge to re-up; I've played about 2.5 or 3 years total since it came out, in large chunks of time. But my core understanding is that if you find a corp, you will probably not be able to play casually. They will want time from you for mining, fighting, trading, logistics, guarding, raiding, whatever.

You could solo, but that takes a real understanding of the systems and the ability to maintain yourself in a particular niche without a trustworthy group behind you. One screw-up or a bit of bad luck and you're out a few weeks of work, or more. Soloing is hard; at least, it used to be.

What do people think? Is soloing easier now? Safer? More profitable?

I solo...its not bad. I run lvl 3s and 4s....decent money there. I also carebear a lot...typically for half the reward money. I enjoy it. Play less than ten hours a week and that allows me to get my fix. There is truth to the lost time though. I lost my BS a few weeks ago because my internet crashed while I was on a mission. By the time I got back on, my ship was destroyed by passing assclowns (apparently, it lagged and thus, did not warp me away like it should have) I ended up just running 3s until I got enough money back to purchase my ship again. Not a huge setback since it was only a Raven, but still annoying. Otherwise...I would suggest starting up a month and trying it out. Im Xandila in the GWJ channel if anyone ever sees me on and wants to say hi or ask for help or whatever...

If you want a casual corps and do a lot of combat, I heard Red vs. Blue is a pretty cool place. I don't think they care a lot about op time.

Bleh, Massively. Here's a link to the reveal from the Goons.

Thanks I might give them a look when I decide to re-subscribe.

The alliance tournament is starting this weekend. You guys should tune in
My tiny alliance is participating!

Our corp has just joined a new alliance, but I don't think they are in the tourney. I'm guessing we'll see a lot of peeps fielding them t3 battle cruisers. It is always a good watch, though some of the commentators could do something other than tell us what we can all see.

\o/

Good win, I don't think I'd ever seen anyone bring Ishtar's into a 6v6 tourney before, and now I know why. A lot of yesterday's matches seemed to be real hammerings on the 50-0 scale, a lot of teams using the 2 Sleipnir - Scimitar - 3 Merlin setups.

Well, there's a lot of metagaming going on and that plays into what people field.
I know some things Ishtars would be good against

Something that doesn't move very fast or very far, if you are going to be using sentries.

Funny reaction

edit:
our second AT match.
Just going to let it speak for itself lol

Why on earth did CCP let Bolton cast this? HE IS AWFUL.

So did you guys seriously through the fight for 20 billion?

edit - Wow, they did pay 20 billion to throw the match. That's pretty garbage, here's hoping CCP throws you both out.

Bolton does come across as utterly clueless, but moreso in this match than in the others.

What's the expression?
Don't attribute to mallice that which can be adequaqtely explained by stupidity.

You probably shouldn't post a video with a weird fight where the casters come to the conclusion that the fight was thrown with the introduction

Just going to let it speak for itself lol

if you don't want the video to speak for itself. Did you guys throw the fight? One of the youtube commenters said that most of the Vindicator's weapons were taken offline, but I would expect you to have posted "Here's the second tournament match, a surprise upset defeat after our weapons were taken offline:".

No we didn't throw the match but five minutes after it there were like two threads accusing us of having done it and we found it quite hilarious. The guy who flew the Vindicator didn't feel comfortable doing it but the primary pilot got delayed because of some unfortunate circumstances. Funnily enough he also burned stuff out in almost every practice.

So what if they did ? Good luck to them - matches are 'arranged' in the tournament group stage all the time. Compared to some of the exploits and crap that have been pulled in the last few months, one corp paying another is hardly a major event.
