Any photographers in the house?

Here's a picture of some clouds I took with my old Iphone.

There's something unsettling about her expression. Like she's thinking about the best way to squash me.

Which is funny, because she's about 5-1, maybe 105 haha.

I'm a little ways off before I start investing that much into my hobby studio. I've yet to make any money from it, this time around (did weddings and such a LONG time ago and decided to pick it up again and rekindle a little. Maybe do some jobs for anyone who'll let me and we'll see where it goes from there.

Is Focusure a team of photographers or just yourself?

Just me and my female business partner. We don't make money off it, we just get paid to buy gear.

Ya, That's how photography works, even if you are making a living off of it.
Feed yourself, pay bills and buy gear.
If you get to go out for MacDonalds after all that, Great!

you have GOT to be kidding me

$8000. Black and White only.
Who would be so bloody stupid?
I suppose there are a lot of Hipsters out there with too much money that they will be drooling over this.

It's so stupid I had to tell you twice!

Last year while taking skateboarding photos I managed to rip my Vivitar 285HV flash off the camera while trying to avoid an errant skateboard. I finally got around to replacing the hotshoe on it this morning. Considering it fell 5 feet down into a concrete bowl, I was a bit surprised that everything still worked. A new $10 replacement hotshoe and a crash course in soldering and it's good as new.

I took some test shots of Jimmy the dog in the back yard. I set him up so the sun was behind and above him to make use of the flash. I still find myself resorting to a bit of trial and error before getting the flash settings right. I'm still not confident with the all manual flash yet. I would like to get good with this before I spring for a nice auto flash one day, though.

Love the last one, very dramatic. I just came back from our local airshow and going through 300+ pictures now. It was rainy and very overcast. Overall horrible conditions to shoot in. I think this one is one of my favorites so far.

Did anyone tell him that he has the flag upside down?

That means he's in distress. Probably because his feet are on fire.

Some explanation.

I don't even.

NEW STORY: He's a radical anarchist, setting his feet on fire in protest.

Quit ruining my optical illusion jokes!

:p

Went camping last weekend, got a lot of excellent photos with the new body, as well as finally starting to get the hang of getting halfway-decent bird photos at the far end of my 300mm-equivalent lens. Full photoset is here.

All look great, good job! I especially like the line up of fungi.

I just came back from a conference in Vegas and attempted to walk the strip for some night shots. I only had my Gorilla Pod with me but I think I was able to get a few decent ones.

That's a nice picture of the strip, tke!

Also, great work Rick - especially the one with the bird in T-position! How did you manage to capture that little doozy?

Very nice. Man I want to go back to Vegas.

Got lucky. I was lining him up on the branch he was sitting on, and he jumped just as I was about to shoot. He stayed in the plane of focus enough for me to keep it reasonably sharp.

After this I really have to hold off on the temptation to get an even longer lens, I was hitting up against the limitations of the 150mm. That said, the new body definitely made it even possible. Image Stabilization while super-zoomed FTW!

A couple shots i recently processed.
60mm Macro with 36mm extension tube. LOVING the extension tube!

Thoughts?

so id kinda fallen out with taking pictures for a while as I've been biking so much and I didnt have a way of comfortable lugging a 7d around with me, but thats changed! I found a really nice camera bag made by chrome that keeps the camera safe and settles it comfortably on my bike. So now I find most of my pictures are a cross between my two hobbies now, biking and photography. Anyway, a few shots Ive taken recently:

Those are very nice. I like the bike in a tunnel the most, it has a nice texture and flow.

Nice shot. Interesting to see an installation of Escher stairs too

Some promotional work for a local watering hole. Canon 5d Mk2 iso 6400 1/40 f2.8@16mm

You guys are awesome. I have to learn how to use my Canon Rebel

Nice shots guys!

only day light shot of the bunch. Night photography is a different beast entirely. I know I can lighten things up with longer exposure and iso boosting, but trying to find that low light gloom with some vibrancy to it is really hard.

I'm a graduate of the architecture faculty and I went back for there open house and snapped a few pictures. Lovely stuff

So, does anyone know any good haunts for used lenses?

As a relatively inexperienced glass fiend, I am hankering to buy the Panny m4/3 UWA, but I just can't bring myself to pay £500 for it (and that's ordering it at B&H in the States and to pick up after the beach vacation, which is not ideal.)

I've looked on ebay, Amazon's used section, and done some trawling around the internet, but I haven't found anywhere that seems reputable. This place is the closest I've found, and its still pricey.
