New gameplay trailer. Looks a bit theify.
I'm not watching it. I don't want to spoil anything for myself
I was getting a Dark Messiah vibe from it, with a bit of Bioshock.
Yup. Also, that trailer is amazing.
Gameplay looks good, I just hope among hope that the story/dialogue isn't a turd like so many otherwise epic games.
Opulent!
What shall we do with a stealth-luv'n gamer?

Haven't played Thief, so I can speak to that, but this game continues to look fantastic.
Also, maybe I'm just a sucker for that sort of thing, but I thought the music in the trailer was really effective.

Agreed. I thought the audio was clearly the best part of that "gameplay" trailer, which appears to include very little actual gameplay.

Eh? At least half was gameplay, while the other was in-engine cinematics.
Ok, so this looks awesome.
Proper gameplay
There are several ways to interpret this statement, all of them true.
Looks exactly like what I was hoping for.
Yep, still looks awesome.
"Possible to play the whole game without killing anyone." Nice.
I don't think you could even pull that off in Thief.
I can't help but think players are going to discover all sorts of combinations of powers that will "break" the game in fun or ridiculous ways. Must be a nightmare to playtest all the possible powers on all corners of the map with every combination of AI response.
Also, it's got to be really tough to design a stealth game with a power that lets you "Blink" immediately to another spot. Sneaking by a guardpost becomes a non-issue if you can teleport right past!
I'm guessing they employ a lot of doors and walls at key chokepoints to amp up the stealth challenge.
I like the ideas on display. I hope they pull them off. I really need a good stealth game. The twitchy shooters just are not very rewarding lately. Either it is the old Doom-esque shooting corridor design starting to show its age or I am starting to show mine.
Every time I think this game can't look any tastier... well, then it does.
Here are the "multiple approaches" videos from E3, with some interesting commentary tidbits about the game. First time I've seen the full videos uncut (sans Morgan Webb). Apparently you can "neutralize" all the assassination targets in the game without actually killing them.

At this point my main worry is that the game looks *too* good to be true.
Agreed.
There isn't really any new footage here, but finally seeing it in order rather than chopped up just drives home how good the game looks (note: it's long and in French):
I have to say the stealth is a disappointment. It seems very bland compared to the combat walk-through and it was clear that the player new the level pixel by pixel. The combat walk-through was very impressive though.
This wasn't even on my radar till I read this.
Now I'm very interested.
The Verge is quickly becoming my preferred tech news site.
Dishonored is looking so good I'll have to get it. Even though I usually suck at stealth games. I get halfway through a mission and then trip the alarms. Then I have to blast my way out. It usually worked in Deus Ex because by that time I'd decided I didn't want to bother taking them alive.

I wasn't familiar with The Verge til this article, and I've been exploring the site a bit. It's great! Always nice to find a good tech news site, even for us amateurs.

The gaming side is run by a bunch of people from all over that they poached up.
They just post on theverge.com right now as a temporary home while the new site is being built. Eventually that content will be on Polygon.com.

Man, I wish there were more gaming features written like that. A superb read. And a treasure trove of great old pictures, to boot.
