The new update made the UI a lot more snappy, it seems to me. I love it. I love to see developers make improvements that are purely extra polish (i.e. not bug fixes and not new features).

I noticed that too. The biggest bug fix I've noticed is that the hound doesn't show your opponents card when the fate event triggers.

Hey Natus. We still have at least 1 more game to play to finish this round. It is best of 3!!

Thanks for following up on this. There are two people who are dependent on your match finishing (Athros and then Outlandish plays the winner).

I know! I'm here! But the unreliable servers have really been hampering my snappy style!

Good games bigred... I knew I was in trouble game 2 when you got double abolishers in rd 2. Both games seemed close enough that I had no idea who was going to win each time.

Hope to see you again after I make my way up the losers bracket!

Well played! I was very nervous about the first game, especially with a few stumbles I had early on. I wasn't sure who was going to win that one.

I was convinced I was going to lose the second once you picked up prime, but given the two abolishers and my strong lifebound deck, I was able to cycle quickly and either acquire or pick off any high value constructs before you could get your hands on that. That was my entire strategy for the rest of the game. Acquire power/lifebound cards from the middle that could end the game quicker while acquiring/banishing high value constructs to avoid your prime. My timing was lucky that most constructs showed up on my turn so I get a shot at removing them before you could. By the end (after picking up cog maw and that 7 honor construct), I knew I was going to close the match out before you could pick up anything damaging.

Hi, folks. I have to admit that I have NO idea how SoS's Dream Machine works. No idea why it's worth the runes.

Thanks!

Also, it's worth 7 honor, which is also awesome.

In the future, I would suggest posting general game questions in the general Ascension thread and not in the tournament thread.

Dream Machine returns a mechena construct back to your hand. This is good for constructs that have a bonus when played. I.e. the wormhole bans a card. Thus, you could play wormhole and ban a card, activate your dream machine, return wormhole to your hand, play it again, and banish a second card. This can also be used for the +1 mechanas, the +3 power mechana, etc. It's a great card if you have a lot of mechana constructs that produce benefits when they are played or when other mechanas are played. The two constructs it doesn't help are cog maw or auto builder.

Edit: Also, when there's a mechana event, you can return constructs like everbloom or penumbral edge to your hand and use them twice per round.

Sorry! Thought I was there when I posted. Thanks for the info.

Going forward I will be making a progress report every 1-2 days. I will announce recent results (as of previous progress report), new matches (as of previous progress report), and list all current matches.

Also, going forward please announce in thread when starting a match, that you are sending the challenge. That way I have an idea if a match has started or if people have stopped paying attention. If I've announced a new match in a progress report and not seen a challenge announced by the next progress report, I will pm the individuals to make sure the match is under way. I'll update OP to reflect this.

Apologies for changing rules, this is a learning process.

Can players with a ? next to their match confirm they have started playing?

Chumpy and I have, indeed, started playing.

Posted this is the main Ascension thread but just in case, for the people who might not read that: PRIME is not working correctly after latest update; at least some of the time if not all of the time playing a Mechana Construct will not allow you to retrieve PRIME from your discard pile. Needless to say this weakens this Brazer Drone a little bit and hurts general construct play, so beware, PRIME may not be worth those 7 runes right now. Still a solid card though; it's more the Brazer Drone I'm likely to ignore now rather than PRIME. No more crazy crazy mech combos for the time being.

Holy crap, didn't even see that until I swapped my iPad from landscape to portrait... (anyone else unable to use the side scroll bars on Challonge on iOS?). Apologies bigred.

SixteenBlue, hit me up, and then we're ready to roll. Shame that last invite we got going wasn't SoS

I realized that might be the case, which is why I decided to start a progress report and announce new matches. Please let me know when the match has started.

Just sent a message along with my next turn in the Hero Academy game we're in, so shouldn't be too long until we're up and running.

Thanks again bigred

You don't have to thank me. You just have to let me win the tournament.

Invite sent! Working from home today too so I'll have more time to play, if today is a good day for you.

Awesome, I'm hitting the hay now (11pm local, with a head cold to boot), but I think the kids and I will be having a lazy day at home tomorrow, so I'll be on most of the day, in between fort building and making Play Doh Dinosaurs.

Spoiler:

I love this stay-at-home-Dad gig!

Justin Fletcher and I are almost finished game 1. I'm pretty sure I've lost by a good margin. I built for runes, but the board has been flooded with monsters the whole game. Justin is lifebound so doesn't care, and is just earning VPs from cycling through his cards.
Bring on game 2!

Chumpy smoked me in game one. Like a pack of Kools.

Leaping - next game is our first for our tournament match, yes?

Yep

SixteenBlue just took out our first game in grand fashion 69-64.

Good fast game, heavy monster deck, and I just didn't have the numbers to get them all.

Quick question, if I hit 'rematch' at the end of the game, did I just mess up the 'top bracket goes first' thing?

The top bracket inviting thing is just to avoid confusion with people inviting each other and side games, it doesn't actually affect who goes first or not; that's random. The only way it really matters who invites who is if you have games going on the side and you want to keep your tournament games having the same name on the top of the game list.

i.e. if I were playing bigred on the side, our side games could be bigred inviting me while I invite him for tourney games. If you rematch I assume the game screen remains the same and the original inviter remains on top, but I haven't paid that much attention to it. Anyway, shouldn't be any issue with just hitting rematch; if things do get reversed just finish out your other game while tourney is still at 60 honor then continue on with the tourney.

edit: and as an aside, I think it'd be cool if on rematches the turn order was automatically reversed. I get a bit annoyed at times when I play someone in 5 or 6 games in a row and they go first each time. And yes, that does happen, that's my luck. I once scored 0/10 on a true false test that I filled in completely randomly! I hate 50/50s, and will not flip a coin for anything. Rock, paper, scissors is the only proper decider!

Guessing my next round hasn't started- if I have been assigned someone new and haven't noticed please let me know (been busy lately).

Crushed by Mudbunny again! I warn you all here and now of his nefarious manner of playing a zillion cards each hand. He must be stopped....like Galactus!

So mudbunny defeats Natus to advance out of the first round 2 games to 0.

Good games Natus!!
