What to do with out of date MCSE books?

I need to reclaim some shelf space. I've got old MCSE books I know I'll never reference again. These are NT, 2000, 2003 Server and Workstation book sets and XP workstation. I've also got books on ASP 3.0, Visual C++ 6 and 2005, and and old version of VBScript. Is there any value in these at all or should I just see if the local library will take them?

Take them to the library. If they can't use them they'll recycle the books for you.

PC Load Letter?

I use big old books I don't need to prop up routers and my PC tower. All that stuff sits under my desk, but I want it to be off the carpet, so I built little stands of books under them!

Currently serving book-as-shelf duty is the Eragon series.

Zero value to you or the library. Recycle those bad boys.

Half price books will probably give you a little something for them.

No HPBs in CO though. Big change from the days when I was within walking distance of two of them in San Antonio.

Use them to hold a door open.

If the library won't take em, then use them to make S'mores per Plavonica's suggestion.

Blecchh! S'mores made of books?!

...

Oh. Oh, I get it.

Totes S'mores!

Put poop between them and allow the pressure due to the weight create diamonds?

I ended up chucking mine a few years ago. I put them out at two different yard sales for cheap (like 2$ a piece). Burn 'em.

Thanks everyone. For closure, these are long since gone to Goodwill. The Dead MCSE Scrolls can collect their dust.

I'm glad they're not wasting library shelf space at least :p.

Umm, I don't know what you or your dog have been eating...

I was going to keep all of my books when I got my A+, Network+, Security+, MCSE and MCITP certs. But since I was never able to get an IT job despite months of searching, I asked a couple of libraries and user groups. Nobody wanted them and I'm sure they are occupying a nice spot in a landfill right now.

I can't imagine anyone actually wanting old computer manuals/books.

Yah, the internet is way superior unless you're planning on taking the actual tests (and there are pretty good resources and test dumps online for that too). So, yup, old books are utterly useless.
