Mass Effect 3 Catch-All

Having watched one (the, errr, green one), the style reminds me of Fallout. It seems pretty up-beat.

It seems there's also a new ending (Spoilers, cuddly spiders or creepy kittens, etc), or rather a not-ending.

Has anyone here played through on Insanity? What's the difficulty like? I'm on Xbox if it matters.

I'm about halfway through. It's easy peasy so far, at least with my build (soldier). If you can do multiplayer gold, insanity is no problem.

Woah, just watched the first bit of that video, enough to know it's the choice I wanted when I first played the game. I didn't expect them to add that. The EC is already exceeding my expectations. Definitely gonna have to re-play the end of my original (and so far only) playthrough one of these days.

I assume it's out for 360? I see nothing on Origin for PC.

The recordings do seem to be 360 going by the button prompts. I think the 360 has always released first for ME DLC.

Yeah, not seeing anything on Origin either. (I assume it's gonna be the same method as with the MP DLC - shop for add-ons and then "buy" it for free.)

Right, that's what I was looking for.

Whatever else Microsoft does bad, they certainly get their Tues maintenance releases done on time. Demos, patches, DLC, everything is always out for them first.

It wasn't bad at all. I played engineer which gave me lots of options for putting drones, etc out while I recovered my health. I also had overload for shields (and generally buggering people up) and incinerate for armor.

There were quite a few later fights, some involving multiple brutes, that I imagined being very hard but it was all pretty smooth. There was one point I found annoying but I'll wait and see if you have any problems with it. It may have just been me :).

I do know that - in very fine print at the end of the announcement trailer - that the EC is being released in EU and on PS3 next Tuesday, July 3rd. I don't know if that applied to PC as well.

The delay to July is for EU PS3 only, I believe. All other platforms/regions get it sometime today.

Hmm. Guess I'll check back in a few hours. I looked in the Downloadable content list inside the game, and it's not there yet. Couple of free mulitplayer DLC, though.

The new endings are on Youtube. I posted it in the Mass Effect 3 Spoiler thread.

I'm going to save the new endings as a reward for playing through with my femshep. Mind you I'd like to wait for more dlc to come in before I do that run so it may be a while before I get to see them.

EC is up on PC.

Yep, downloading.

It was as expected, in the add-ons section, free dlc that you have to "purchase" and then download.

I plan of getting to the new ending naturally, with my latest play through, but, heh, he ain't that far along, so I won't be seeing this for a while. Oh well. God willing, the new furor over how terrible it is will be dying down by then.

That's fine. That's why I didn't post the video in this thread.

Much appreciated

I just need to remember to avoid the spoiler thread again but I don't go there much anyway.

Heh, Origin's friends/chat service is down. EC load, or unrelated?

I'm trying to decide whether to download the two gigs and fire the game up again, or just watch the new endings on YouTube.

How much of the game would I have to replay to see the new content?

I just played through from the point of no return to the end and didn't see ANY new content. Wtf?

Someone explain that to me
edit: beh, installation problem

Mass Effect 3 down, finally. By pure coincidence, I played the final three hours of the game on the day that the Extended Cut DLC was released. I'm pretty happy with the ending, at least the one I selected, but I didn't see the non-extended version. I thought it was suitably epic, and in general I was very satisfied with the game.

I was annoyed with a few things: not being able to import my ME1/2 Shepard character model was really disappointing, and a pretty baffling screw up. The loss of readiness rating that results from skipping days between game sessions was a clear message to me that I'm no longer their target audience. Plus, there were still a couple of unresolved story threads even in the extended ending:

Spoiler:

Where did the arachni go--their absence wasn't the result of my decision

But despite all that, I had a great time with it and consider the ME trilogy one of my all-time favorite gaming experiences.

EDIT: Oops, meant to put this in the Finished any games lately? thread! Oh well, fits here just fine.

I've been marching toward the new ending with an all Renegade engineer, and after Tuchanka...I hate this Shepard. What an asshole.

So, when you pick up from this point where you would start if you only want to see the new endings, do you need to have your galactic readiness up again?

The extended cut DLC lowers how much galactic readiness you need for the different endings. Not sure if it's enough to give you all the options with 50% readiness, probably though.

They said that if you want to experience everything that you should start from the point of no return mission, but from what I've seen on the Wikia pretty much all the changes are in the end. Has anyone played through with the extended cut DLC and noticed any changes before the end that actually make it worth playing through again?

The first real change I noticed was in

Spoiler:

London

at

Spoiler:

the last bit, where Harbinger shows up - after the Forward Operating Base with all the squaddie goodbyes, but before the Citadel.

The popular hypothesis is that they specified the Point-of-no-Return mission because that's where your EMS results are calculated/locked in. Don't know if that's true, but I'm not sure why else they would have specified so far back.

The folks over at neogaf were saying that your GR gets locked in after completion of the Cerberus HQ mission, so you should be able to load up the save that starts you right before Marauder Shields and be good to go.

Thanks for the news. It would have been fairly devious of them to force you to get your GR up again, although maybe a few MP matches would be fun.
