Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Catch-All

I think I got three or four pieces of evidence supporting his innocence. I did throw in one fake affidavit to be sure, though, since I would be damned before I gave up my source of cheap ferry stones.

And anyway, even if he was engaging in a bit of light treason, what do I care? The duke is as dick. :P

Spoiler:

I got three people vouching for him, but I also found the ledger in his mansion that had some negative information regarding him. Unfortunately, I forgot that handing in the ledger meant I could no longer complete the OTHER quest and get the cash and experience. I hope the ledger respawns.

In any case, by trying to be unbiased, I might have gotten him guilty. Y'know, what with the actual proof and all.

Finding that ledger

Spoiler:

absolutely ruins any chance he had for innocence.

Exactly. Actual proof rather than character reference.

Again, hope it at least respawned so I can complete that other quest.

Also also, defeated the Drake by the Shadow Fort yesterday. I was able to knock down his first bar of health without much trouble, so I made the mistake of thinking it to be easy. Ha ha ha! Yeah, my recommendation: if you're going to fight that Drake, have items that heal a confused state. That guy loves to snatch up pawns and hypnotize them into doing his bidding.

Still, was pretty awesome.

Another also: make sure you have an archer for tackling the Metal Golem in Witchwood, and in particular one that isn't a Magick Archer. There's one Amulet that can't be hit with melee, and magic won't work on it.

Really considering going to Ranger or returning to Strider.

This might make me a bad person, but whenever one of my pawns got hypnotized by that drake I just killed them myself and then revived them.

I did the same. Pawns are pawns, they don't need coddling. They're not our kids. Just as with my other in-game subordinates (pictured below), I employ the Gabriel Method:

"I see a Pawn I want, I take it. I teach it to hate. I teach it to win. I put a Pawn in the chamber and pull the effing trigger."

Of course I also wasted a good bit of money until I figured out that I could upgrade items straight to level 3 if I had the materials and that I didn't first have to upgrade them to level 1 and 2.

Best. Tip. Ever! 20+ hr in and I had no idea. It is a bit odd and unintuitive…
I also have a tip, assuming everybody is as stupid as me: you can use active weapon skills (eg: hundred kisses) while climbing enemies! Don't just climb and mash the light attack button like I did until… last night.

Also that.
But the drake whooped our asses anyway.

...

That's...amazing. Will definitely do from now on.

I didn't know you could do that with Hundred Kisses until zeroKFE posted his class summaries

Sadly, only certain skills that can be used while climbing though. It would be awesome if they had made a climbing version of every skill, but there are definitely a few that would be tough to finagle.

I think Hundred Kisses and Gouge are the only skills you can use while climbing. I haven't used some of the vocations enough to find out if theres more though. I suppose I could just use a wiki but I feel like that would ruin this kind of game for me.

oh by the way my XBL tag is P1P3T0 and my pawns name is Kain lvl32ish Ranger. incase anyone wants it. I've also got another back up tag that I've been using for a second save slot. Its Dr Papercut516 with a lvl30 Sorcerer Pwan named Kiska...I think I might be playing this game too much...

Um...huh...opps. Double post by accident haha

I'm disappointed this isn't coming to PC. It looks pretty amazing and I doubt I'll ever get to play it. Just like the Uncharted games. Oh well, maybe something similar will come to us PC gamers.

I could have sworn that I heard about a pc port somewhere...I'll have to look around again.

I heard someone say it on a podcast this week, but I'm pretty sure they were just wrong.

I mean who knows, Capcom is one of the more PC-friendly Japanese developers. It might happen, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Man, sometimes the pawn AI can be really frustrating. I got attacked by a bunch of ghosts, and all three pawns immedately started yelling their heads off about how we can only hurt ghosts with magic. But would my mage cast any one of his three weapon enchantments? No, of course not. Only once during three separate ghost encounters did he cast a single weapon enchant, and that's only because some skeletons also attacked us.

Also, I never thought I'd be so sick of hearing the word aught. I feel like I'm about to turn into Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction the next time someone says it.

Man, muttonchop. You ought'nt* get so annoyed with these things!

Spoiler:

* It's another way of spelling aught!

I was having fun and running around on the rooftops in Gran Soren, and my poor stupid pawns kept falling off roofs and taking damage and yelling about how "this foe is too powerful". What foe? The roof? Gravity?

Also it never fails to amuse me whenever I walk into someone's house and the pawns immediately go apesh*t and start smashing and looting everything.

Come now, let us end this drivel about overly talkative pawns. There is aught else to discuss.

But without their endless chatter, how would I ever know that wolves are vulnerable to fire? Or that wolves hate fire? Or that fire is useful against wolves?

Also, have you heard about fire? Apparently wolves don't like it.

I must have some uncanny ability to tune Pawns out until they chime in with new information. And then I tune them out again.

Also, game has hit 1 million shipped units, Capcom is now officially thinking sequels.

On one hand, YAY! On the other hand, the verbiage in that article makes it sound very, very business man. Which is frightening.

I'll try and trust Capcom on this.

That's all it is!

This one is weak to money!

It fears profit! Use profit!

My own hope is that they figure out what aspects of the game were successful and which need improvement. I'm mainly looking at the pawn AI and the related system for it and the weird split in the inventory system. Otherwise, apart from the generic nature of the storyline and sidequests, they had a winner in this one. I didn't even mind the generic aspects, because the combat system and exploratory feel of the game were so compelling.

To speak more optimistically, even when Capcom is being driven by profit-margins, they still have a tendency to make some good stuff. Resident Evil 5 wasn't as fun as Resident Evil 4, but I was still able to max cheevos on it and have a good time. I just don't feel the need to go back, unlike every once in a while I want to play REmake or RE4 again.

While Bionic Commando may have been groan worthy in a lot of ways, it was still enjoyable enough.

So on and so forth.

So a Dragon's Dogma sequel, even if driven by the Search For More Money(TM), would likely still be a lot of fun.

I've spent time honing my warrior pawn to be the ultimate bodyguard with careful attention paid to skill selection, occassional stops in the chair of knowledge (or whatever), and spending hard-earned money on the newest and best equipment. With all of that I'll get maybe one person using them every few days.

Now, my 5 year old son loves watching me play this game so he decided to make his own character just to run around and fight wolves and bandits. The pawn he made is a strider, still in starter armor, who looks like a 10 year old girl with a white mohawk and is named Susan. I can't even count how many times people have used that pawn. I think I'm learning something very valuable about the difference between quality and marketing.

I don't think anyone has used my Pawn yet. Maybe they're discouraged by the fact that his name is Mint Jelly*, or maybe people just don't want a weird skinny guy with a mullet and a giant moustache in their party. Their loss, he's actually a pretty awesome sorcerer.

*Mutton Chop's faithful companion.

Mutton Chop and Mint Jelly? I'm picturing some weird alternate version of Adventure Time.

Yeah, but instead of a boy and a magic dog there's an obese ranger and a skinny redneck sorcerer.

I have my online activity set to friends only so whoever uses my pawn has to be on my friends list.

Right now I think only two people have been using my pawn. I'm pretty sure the only person in this forum to use my pawn is ccesarano.

Also, I wonder how long capcom will keep co-op out of the series if they continue forward.
