Ascension (iOS) Gaming League (New Tourney starting Jan 14, 2013!)

So, to report a match do I have to sign up for a Challonge account? I'm sure this has likely been covered, sorry.

Yes. You can report match scores in thread and ask me to report it. However, It's very easy to report scores yourself.

And TheCounselor wins again!

To recap:
Game one - TheCounselor 63 - m0nk3yboy 62
Game two - TheCounselor 75 - m0nk3yboy 68
Game three - NA

Do we update the chart BigRed or do you? Don't want to mess anything up

EDIT: look at that, I did it, easier than it looked.

Good games, m0nk3yboy. I enjoyed them quite a bit.

Great games, oily. I wasn't sure how the second game would turn out and the third I had quite the card rush.

Mudbunny defeats Natus in match 1 by a score of 110 to 88.

Cool! One minor thing I'd like to point out is that you won game 1 (a match is the best of 3) and you should not report the scores until you have completed the match.

That was an atrocious game! For the first half of the game I broke out ahead and started gobbling up constructs. Yet Mudbunny careened right past me into the stratosphere and I have no idea how he did it. I look forward to our second match!

I got really lucky with getting trophy cards that would let me draw a card, then kill a monster, get the trophy and then use it to draw another card.

Also, I managed to get the card that allows you to pay the honor value (star) not the valor cost. Churned that 3 times I think.

I told you not to worry =) I may be pretty decent at the second expansion but I can't even beat a bot on medium in SoS yet.

To the loser's bracket!

I'm really looking forward to my next round, found my trigger finger itching more than I thought I would. Also, I expect to lose but hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Especially the way we kept rotating between this and HeroAcademy

Progress Report

We're almost out of the first round with one match remaining between Natus and Mudbunny. They should be at least into game 2 so everyone who has been waiting with a first round bye should soon have an opponent.

Round 1 Results:

Thecounselor defeats monk3yboy
Bigred defeats Oilypenguin
Fedaykin defeats Ranger Rick
Outlandish defeats Cyrax
Sirjoekcb defeats Shoptroll

Apollo and I have played 2 games and I've won both- do we play a 3rd or not?

Good games demonbox, I tried to get too creative in the first game and it came to bite me in the rear. Best of luck to you going forward!

Edit: I also updated Challonge with our results.

If people are worried about keeping a decent pace, wouldn't it make sense to start games 1 and 2 of the match at the same time, and play them concurrently?
Then play a game 3 if necessary.

@Torq, playing two games at once is an option but I don't see any formal complaints about pace. I'd rather have a slower, quality tournament where players can focus on individual matches. However, players are allowed to play both games at once if they desire. I'm just not going to force them to do so unless the slowness of the tournament is becoming a serious issue.

An aside, I feel the pace is going rather well and will ramp up once we get all the bye players involved.

So I thought I was out of this but apparently I just had a bye week? Awesome.

Same for me. I completely forgot I actually signed up for this.

For those of you just starting to get involved (bye round) please read the original post. Signing up at Challonge and posting your id in the signup thread will make life easier for everyone.

On Challonge my user name is athros13 - other than that, my id for Ascension is in the spreadsheet.

Challonge PM sent to you bigred

@athros: You've now been linked to the bracket.

Sending you an invite for our round 2 match bigred... Good luck!

Wow. I already made a stupid, stupid mistake in round 4. #turningemo

SixteenBlue and I just finished up 3 real-time games real quick on my work break. Thanks for the real-time games, love those! All 3 were close.

I lost the first 61-70 when I always seemed to be one rune or one power short of what I needed to do anything.
The second I squeaked out 65-60 thanks to a final turn Nemesis kill and the 3 recovered trophies just pushing me over the edge.
Third I won 88-76 thanks to a lot of center banishing plus some Eye of Destiny and PRIME shenanigans; having weapon replace PRIME as I took it into hand was a little more luck than is really fair.

Even though I won both games, the scores were close- it could have gone the other way easily.

I've noticed that. We all seem to be 'within reach' of each other, there has been no real landslides in the scoring side of things.

Anyone else having problems with the Ascension app?
I don't seem to be getting push notifications and now when I try and Play Online it just crashes to desktop.
I've tried clearing the app out from the status bar and relaunching, but no luck. Might have to perform a full power down on the iPad.

An update was pushed out yesterday which I think was causing people to crash if they tried to play online without the update.

Ah ha! Fixed. Thanks Shoptroll!

The new update made the UI a lot more snappy, it seems to me. I love it. I love to see developers make improvements that are purely extra polish (i.e. not bug fixes and not new features).
