Upcoming Indie Games to Keep an Eye On

Reus

Reus is a god game in which you take control of nature through the hands of mighty giants. You possess all imaginable powers over nature. Among them terrascaping, creation of life, control of weather and genetic manipulation. There is only one thing on the planet that you do not control: mankind, with all their virtues and and all their vices. You can shape their world, but not their will. It's your responsibility to maintain a balance in which man is not overpowered by nature, and nature does not fall to man's greed.

Not much talk about Gnomoria. I picked it up this weekend though and have been having a lot of fun with it. Anyone else playing it? I need some defense tips and maybe some guidance on hunting down metal. I haven't found any so far.

I haven't played it (or too much of anything else this week), but I watch any video I see of the game.

No offense meant, but help me understand what you see in this, enough to post it here, at least. There's no gameplay, the teaser was dull imo, it's a new dev, and the concept is pretty broad not to get excited about. Does the art do it for you that much?

The indie game I'm most looking forward to is GunPoint. The puzzling looks like a blast in this.

I also have to concur with the poster above, I've been really addicted to indie games lately and can't get enough of them.

yeah, I kept meaning to come back and post that
. It looks great

This looks brilliant.

I don't see anything in it, but I know some people are interested in god games and may be interested in tracking the progress of this one.

And for those looking for an actual post about an upcoming indie game: Legends of Dawn - a fantasy RPG. It looks turn-based, but I'm not sure if it actually is.

I'm eagerly awaiting this. So much that I think I've signed up for the mailing list notification at least twice now.

Count it thrice for me. Tom Francis seems like a really smart fellow. It's been a joy to follow the development of his game.

I love how the art has changed since early development -- the game looks so good now and like a lot of fun. I'm also glad he's decided to charge for it -- it'd be silly to give it away after putting so much time, effort, and (I'm assuming) money into it.

I've been following the dev on twitter for some time now (it's gone pretty quiet since in the crunch zone atm) and there was a clear positive transition in the production around the time that charging for it became an idea/notion.

Someone loved Metroid. As popular as Metroid is, there aren't many great clones of it. Very much looking forward to ESA.

It looks like the character is modeled after the Bit Trip character. Cool.

Any folks here interested in Krater?

It's an indie game that's being developed in the style of Minecraft, so a lot of functionality still to be added. I saw the game on Giant Bomb and it has a really nice look:

And it's even in the OP. That's some filthy-ass skimming, avggeek.

I knew someone would reference xkcd!

And hell, he might as well have skimmed it with his ass!

The skim is strong in this one.

We have to skim another level down!

So I bought this but haven't got round to trying it yet. It looks neat though:

not a review (yet?) but RPS did a post on it.

I want this!

Delver is a first person dungeon crawler inspired by Ultima Underworld with roguelike elements. Its current build is available for free on PC, Mac, and Linux. It's also available on Android for about $2.

Delver gets frequent updates, so this video is extremely dated.

Edit: This was uploaded yesterday, so it's current.

OK, Delver is pretty great! Thanks for the tip.

Another student-made game that I want to play: Blink.

If the article where I read about the game hadn't told me this was made by students, I would've assumed it was made by a professional studio. It looks very good.

That almost looks like Valve-employment baiting to me. Nice.

I'd be interested to see something like that on the Wii U. Tablet controls the 2D sprite, while the person on the TV controls the camera.

I was entertained by that guy's shouts, and the game in general looks like some good arcadey-rpg fun. The only thing I can see not liking, which the man mentions, is that you have to guesstimate hitboxes because of its 2D nature.

Yeah, listening to him play was really quite funny. I've had quite a few moments like that, as well.

Other than the bats and the floaty eyeball things that won't sit still while I try to skewer them, I really haven't had too much trouble hitting things or knowing how close they were. Basically, if they're in your face, you can stab them.

For anyone with an XBox, Spelunky is finally arriving on July 4th.

Not totally sure where exactly to put this and I don't know if it's getting a commercial release but this was the result of the recent 7 Day FPS gamejam:

First Person Tutor a game I'm pretty sure only the resident tongue-clucking grammarians could love
