Frozen Synapse "The Ultimate Tactical Game" from Mode 7

Blast. I got a bunch of moves in last night, but it appears that the game refuses to launch on my work machine, thus crippling my chances of trying to get a move or two in at lunch. I'll remain consistent, but these games will take a few days. Sorry for the hold up.

That's ok. I don't care if the game takes a couple days / week / weeks to finish, as long as it gets done eventually. I have a stack of about 20+ games that haven't been finished because the person I was playing against either decided he didn't want to play against someone my rank or stopped taking turns once it was clear he was going to lose.

I'm always up for more matches. Jumping back in reminded me how much I love this game.

True that. Once I finally get the google doc in to my game it'll be easier to set things up. Yay shapeform destruction!

Did they ever patch that so that if you don't take your turn within a few weeks, you automatically default? I was sure I read that was planned, but not sure if it ever got implemented.

Also, have you guys seen Fray on Steam? It looks like it could be similar to Frozen Synapse. Going to have to watch this one a bit.

Yup. It's official. I've lost my mojo. I think I've lost every one of my guys in the tournament and haven't killed a single one of anyones. Pretty much the suckiest tournament ever.

*grizzle grumble moan*

Spoiler:

Nah, I'll totally play some more. I can't get any worse right? Right??

Tkyl beat me.
My game against Dreaded Gazebo isn't going well either.
Kicking BlackSaber's teeth in, though idiotically lost a grenader because I wasn't paying attention.

Still had me nervous right up to the end. One shotgunner can do a lot of damage if you don't pay attention!

Crap. I should've recorded that game with Blacksaber. I gimped his shotgunner by having a grenader fire at his own feet then ducking behind some low cover just out of sight. It's almost as if I could hear him swearing from around the world.

I'm going through and recording all the matches played in the tourney. I'll post them once they are all up.

Round 1:

Round 2:

Round 3:

Watching the whole game straight through is awesome when the explosives start flying. My favorite is when units are running with the grenade alongside them in the same direction...then...then...death.

So, should we start another tournament?

Same style? Or do you want different match types?

Anyone else want in?

This was fun. I dunno if I should get involved with another just yet because I'm so busy. Give me a few weeks.

I'm not used to losing. It's a new thing for me. I've heard people talk about it once or twice but never paid too much attention to it, thinking it would never happen to me. But it did. Let this be a lesson to you all. A very important lesson.

Let this be my revenge for the DoW2 tournament.

I'd be up for another one. Would be fun to get a few more people in, too.

It could be done as a league style to decide seeding if you are looking at brining more people in. Basically all you do is toss your name on a list and record your W/L record against other GWJ types. The games could be played whenever you wanted against any GWJ dude. When the tournament rolls around you use those results to make the pairings.

This was a rousing success over in the League of Legends crowd, and it got a bunch of new people in to the game.

Played a game against -TB- today, whom is the highest leveled person playing Frozen Synapse.

Barely won, by about 0.5 seconds.

Wait, what mode is that?

I just got this, thanks to a steam gift from peedmyself. Played the first two missions of the campaign this morning. It is pretty awesome so far.

I want to get through a good chunk of the campaign first, but multiplayer seems like it would be fun too. Do we have a steam group, or are we just using this thread?

I'm not sure if it's called Dark Extermination as well, but it is essentially the same thing with end-zones you can reach to win the game (instead of killing all the opposing player's units.)

I think there is a Frozen Synapse Steam group, but it's not really used. Really, just add us as friends in game and feel free to challenge us at any time.

Hmm, I still need to win a round of charge and disputed... may have to try those.

With the steam sale, I got the Red Mode DLC. Is anyone interested in a coop session. I finished through part of the vanilla campaign, but I am by no means an expert, it took me so so many tries to get past some of them

By the way, online features are shared among dlc and vanilla, so I can bring along anyone for a coop session.

A series of circumstances resulted in me coming back to FS. Most importantly, the Red DLC sale.

As such, I'll be challenging you during the rest of the week (those I can find on the UK server). Feel free to ignore me. However, if you do, realize you'll be missing the chance of stomping your marching boots all over my feces.

Saw the challenge. Will respond. Need to some up courage. Constantly getting beaten by GWJers. Maybe I can win this time?

Most likely you will. I'm on that phase you call "sucking ball sacks".

I haven't managed to get back to FS since I started (due to AssBro getting its hooks into me) so I'm still only 2 missions into the campaign. I wouldn't mind starting over in co-op. How does it work? Is it still Async, and each player controls a subset of the units?

Also picked up the DLC the other day, since everyone seems to be playing with that and it was only $2. Plus, "save game to youtube" like a few people posted upthread is awesome, though maybe that was in the base game.

You can play co-op with anyone, but I believe both players need to have the Red DLC to play the new campaign.

SABRE!!! It's your turn! Come make me eat lead.
