Surprised no one has asked how much one of these costs yet. Please let us know where we can place our pre-orders, I'll probably take 3 or 4.

Into baby thread, for future goodness. Here's hoping.

Ok, so I know this is the how great our kids are thread, but for just one minute, I want to talk about how much my kids have sucked the last few days. We are dealing with 14-18 month molars, and holy crap, I hate it. Or maybe they just hate me. But seriously, molars times 2, is torture. My poor babies have never cried this much, drooled this much, or been this miserable. They don't eat much, they don't sleep, which makes for one tired mama and I just don;t know how much longer it goes on, but I know that my sleep bank, is in overdraft, and my patience, are thin. Nothing I do makes them happy, so one of these days I am just going to sit down and cry with them.

Okay, rant over. Don't hate me. Just keeping it real.

Have you tried an Amber necklace? Our first was shocking when her first teeth came in.

We got one off eBay quite cheap (something Baltic Amber I think). As soon as it arrived, we slipped it on, and in a couple of hours, she was settled. Needless to say number 2 got one as a matter of course. They are (almost) 3 and 4.5 now, and they still have them on.

Big one broke hers a few months back, and was grumpy as all hell for the 10 days until a new one arrived. We got multiples in that second parcel.

My 3 and a half year old was super easy, her molars came in without a lot of fuss or fervor. My wife tells me that she's considered one of the necklaces for our youngest, since our 4th had such a hard time, though.

We got given an amber necklace as a gift, I'm pretty sceptical, but I guess when the time comes I'll try anything

I think they just need to steal a necklace from a girl named Amber.

Magnets? How do they work?

A little skeptical, but I've got time before my girl starts teething and I'm desperate to get her some relief. I await Prozac's review!

Last Thursday my wife took my son to go visit with her parents for a week while I have to stay home and work. This is the longest that they have been gone since he was born. Due to work/school I don't get to see much of the little man during the week and to loose the weekend time of playing on the floor, putting him down for naps, etc. has been a bath of emotions. When did I become such a sap? I feel sorry for you guys that have to leave your family for long periods of time.

I'm sorry that sounds like A-Grade snake oil.

Either the amber produces ethereal vibrations which mysically soothe the baby, in which case I call hippy bollocks, or there's a substance in the amber which acts as an analgesic in which case I'm medicating my teething son without controlling the dose and risking overdose or injury if he chews and swallows it. And he's teething. He will chew and swallow it.

Exactly this.

We were doing some tidying and storing last weekend so to keep Stellan entertained I put him in a box.

I then proceeded to carry the box around while asking for suggestions as to where we could store this "box of wriggling bees".

There's a good post on amber teething necklaces here: http://scepticon.wordpress.com/2011/...

The comments get a bit scary though.

Hippy bollocks or not, they worked on our kids. YMMV.

Around the ankle when small, so as to avoid the 'playing with', and around the neck now because they both find them to be 'pretty'.

I think this is the most likely point: it's a distraction from the teething, not a "mystical crystal pow-ah".
(getting a litle P&C. I'll shut up now. On with the fine examples of gamer-genetic-pairings!)
