Big Eyes is some good stuff.

I can't stop listening to them. Back To The Moon is unfortunately only a 2 song single but it's their best 2 songs so far, at least for me.

Their demo is pretty great too. I can't wait to go home and get all their music.

Edit:
If you like Big Eyes, you might like some of the Soviettes stuff.

Oh I'd really like to hear that demo.

Awesome!

It's Friday. I'm just gonna leave this here....

Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet...

The new Tallest Man on Earth album came out this week. I think I may stop by the record store after work today and pick it up.

Oohhh, I liked The Wild Hunt so I'll have to check that out.

I love that with Spotify I can legally do that right now.

I picked up the new Metric and Tallest Man on Earth albums today. Both are great. However, my favorite thing this week has been David Bazan's most recent album, Strange Negotiations, which I neglected to notice being released. David Bazan (Pedro the Lion) has always been one of my favorites for some reason. I can listen to his stuff over and over again.

Here is something cool:

Picked up the new Smashing Pumpkins yesterday. Enough time has passed that it's quite fun to hear that sound again. Billy Corgan definitely went back to the classic Smashing Pumpkins sound.

This may have been posted before (hell, I may have been the one to post it) but I can't get this song out of my head.

First Aid Kit - Emmylou

I don't know if he's trying to create an homage to Dylan or Cash, but he looks like a young man with too much attitude.
The music's pretty good, though.

Quasi angry teenager. Seems he is from my country (holland). Kinda nice
Song is pretty good indeed.

I'm just dipping my toes into jazz. My wife surprised me with Linda Oh's Initial Here this afternoon. Follow the link and play "Ultimate Persona"; it's awesome. My favorite track so far is the second, "Something's Coming," but I can't find it to sample anywhere (so buy it instead).

Rival Schools - Used For Glue

Walter Schreifels is the closest to a musical hero I'll ever have.

Watch at your "can't get it out of my head" peril:

That was catchy.

I'm glad I still haven't heard this "Call Me Maybe" thing, and thus don't know what people are talking about.

On a different note, I've been listening to a lot of ska lately.

didn't want to make a new post but John Lord dieded yesterday.

I really like this, but I feel like it's taking advantage of my 90's adolescence.

Aesop Rock's new album, Skelethon, dropped last week. I was a bit lukewarm on first listen, but over the week it has really grown on me, and is now my favorite Aes album yet. Kimya Dawson guests on several tracks, and her voice/delivery really complements Aes- now I'm super excited about their upcoming joint album.

Nah, it's just good.

Response!

Here is Justin Townes Earle completely tearing up "My Starter Won't Start This Morning (Bad Gasoline)" at a library in New Jersey:

I had the lyrics to that already stuck in my head beforehand, never can tell who is singing what when it comes to listening through the radio.

Let me introduce it to you in the best possible way:

I don't know what you just said, little kid.... But you touched my heart!

Call me crazy, but the real Call Me Maybe video is actually pretty good. It's a solid pop song, and they had some fun with it.

The xx drops their album opener.

Freakin love these guys. They have the subtle sensibilities of Everything But The Girl.

Sam and the Womp. 2 parts Balkan horns, 1 part Sugarcubes, a splash of drum and bass, mixed together in Trevor Horn's shed. Probably because his son's in the band.

Bonkers.

Man - that is great. Can't wait for the new album.
