Frozen Synapse "The Ultimate Tactical Game" from Mode 7

UK1. I'm happy to receive challenges for dark games. I hate light games so very very very much. I prefer the element of surprise. Really looking forward to trying out the new shield. Going to be some great combo uses for that thing.

Spoiler:

SURPRISE!!!

Yeah, dark games all the way for me. Way more exciting although it can be a bummer if someone just camps out in a corner of the map. I tend to play pretty aggressively and go for the win instead of holding out my last guy if I'm down, though.

Well if you've only got one guy left and he's got more, then you have to be aggressive, otherwise you lose. I got smashed on a recent light game. He had a major terrain advantage and just camped. It wasn't really fun as even after some (what I thought were) pretty sweet super moves, I still got shot to hell.

Something about dark games though. Making your opponent think you are in one spot, when you are really in another is just so much fun. Damn, really wish the soundtrack finished downloading before work today as I really feel like listening to it now.

Also, if anyone else is having problems with slowdowns with an ATI card and 64 bit OS, make sure you set your processor affinity to all processors. I found that once I did that, my framerate issues went away.

Ah Tkyl, don't ever change

Also... hot damn that soundtrack is awesome!

Guess I was thinking when you each have one guy left. I'd rather run around than hide in a corner and go for the draw

Have only a very brief exposure to the shield guys, but not sure what I think. Rocket guys are useless when there are no walls left, but having a unit with no offensive capabilities at all seems a little questionable. We'll see.

I don't suppose anyone would like to coach me through a co-op session or two? I'm pretty terrible at this game, so sitting on TeamSpeak and playing with someone could be a fun way to learn how to suck slightly less.

So I'd have to say the matches with Tkyl are making this game hard to resist. We've had some absolutely nail biting matches where great plans are abruptly smashed by unplanned events. I have to say that upload and shield units have really made this game so much better.

If we can find a time that works, I'd love to do that.

Those have been some intense games. I'm uploading a game now that we just finished. I'll post the link once it's done.

Is anyone interested in trying out the tournament feature? It looks like you can start a tournament and invite particular people to participate. Beyond that, I'm not sure how it works. If you are interested, post here with your Username.

Sounds like fun. Dreaded_Gazebo.

Yeah, I'll be in that. BlackSabre.

Put me down for baladec. I'm going to have to shake off a lot of rust.

Here's another game BlackSabre and I played.

Thoughts on the riot shield unit?

Very unique. It does a great job of screwing with the other persons plan. Normally they would be able to cover a hallway, open area, etc... but now you can use the riot shield to help your guys cross the threatened zone. Several times I would set my guy up, expecting to get a shot off only to have BlackSabre block my shot with a riotshield.

Yeah, I had the advantage and I knew your guy was exactly where he was... I had just anticipated that he'd go the other way and not from behind. I was kicking myself, but that's part of the game. Great planing, and then the guy does something completely different!

And yes, Tkyl is definitely the master of most annoying use of a riot shield. You've really screwed me up a couple of times with that thing!

If anyone else wants in on the tournament, speak up now. I'll try creating it later tonight.

I'd love to, but I've got too much else on my plate right now to enter this in good conscience. HF!

That reminds me, I've still got our match. I haven't forgotten, just been preoccupied with Battlefield. Will probably load it up on the weekend when I've got some more time.

The red update seemed awesome, and seemed like a great impetus to jump back in to this game. I remember finishing about ten campaign missions and a few multiplayer battles last fall.

A 1v1 sesh where someone explains how they are beating the crap out of me seems like the way to go.

This game hits that tactical beat like no other.

Space_Invader expressed interest in this as well. I'd be willing to sit down and do this, the only issue is that I'm fairly busy and don't have a lot of free time to schedule out. Let me look to see when I might be able to do this.

Awesome! PM me with the times you're free and I'll work around your schedule.

It's kind of late notice. But I can do it right now. If you get this, hop into the GWJ vent and jump into the DayZ channel.

Tournament has been created. It's a Round-Robin. So we play each person once. All three games are available to play from the start. So play your rounds when you have the time. There is NO rush to get it done ASAP. Take your time.

Two matches down, 1-1 so far. Just need to play out the match with SuperDave (baladec). Made some serious blunders in my match against Tykl, it was kind of embarrassing. Always double check your commands before submitting your turn Is there a way to actually see the tourney status, or is it just a bunch of matches we play against each other?

Yeah, I need to fire up the game for the first time in months, but work or newer shinier things keep getting in the way.

I'm still waiting on my game with Baladec, as well.

Yeah, well total pooch screw on my part for the entire tournament. Seems like nothing I did has worked in any way, or shapeform (see what I did there... shapeform... because of the... yeah.. hmm... ok)

Feel free to whomp me too SuperDave. I'm pretty much 0-2 right now so slam that final nail into my ego and watch it go soaring majestically through the atmosphere like a deflated balloon at a kids birthday party.

Blast. I got a bunch of moves in last night, but it appears that the game refuses to launch on my work machine, thus crippling my chances of trying to get a move or two in at lunch. I'll remain consistent, but these games will take a few days. Sorry for the hold up.
