DDO Orien server catch all - Static Group nights Tuesday and Thursday 8PM EST

I hope everyone one had fun last night. Elite can be a challenge and we did not have full groups.

I'll update the main post later tonight with what we ran.

Thanks again for everyone who showed up.

By the way, how many people hit level 4 last night? I think I am 75% of the way through Rank 15, so I should be close.

Majeure hit 4th, so now a lvl 1 Artificier + lvl 3 Wizard. Took Resist Energy and Glitterdust (almost never used it in solo - have to try it with the group - should help the rogues, at least - they get automatic sneak attack damage on blinded enemies).

I'm a quest or two away from lvl 4.

I hit level 4 as well.

Frustrating as it was in the moment to get blown away repeatedly by the lightning bolts, I do enjoy that this isn't just a cakewalk.

I definitely enjoyed running on elite, even if it did involve some frequent drops. I think group 2 was hampered a bit by not having a fighter to do a fair amount of tanking. It wouldn't have helped with the one-shots, though. I think I saw someone at one point at something like -88 hps.

It was fun, though.

I...kinda forgot what day it was yesterday. sorry about missing it. seems I'm a quite a bit behind now though.

Yeah, I may switch in the fighter I made a few weeks back next week. Have to think on it a little.

I guess we'll stick with elite next time, I just didn't want us getting too far behind group 1.

Sorry for the late update, Friday turned out to be really busy.

I updated the 1st post with he quests we ran. Also added Tuesday nights to the list.

We are all right around level 4 now. If anyone with Veteran status who is not currently playing with us but would like to now would be a great time to join.

We can work on how we split the parties up too. I felt bad racing past you guys with group one. Next time I'll try to balance the parties better.

Don't give up on your wizard if you like playing it. They start to become really fun around level 6 or 7.

Does rogue get better? It seems the Crossbow type (Artificer?) can open, search and disarm anything I can and I have less HP then everyone even the cleric

Rogues are better trappers than artificers in later levels once the trap boxes are placed where you have to stand in or beyond the trap to disable it. Artificers do not get evasion so they take much more damage than rogues do from traps.

Sneak attack damage is nice, just let the other players enter combat before you do.

What enhancement line where you planning on taking? Assassin, Mechanic or Acrobat?

Rogues shouldn't be standing toe-to-toe in combat, at least not for extended periods. Like Arovin said, let your companion(s) engage first. If you go for an assassin line, you'll get boosts to your sneak attack damage, and with proper weapon choice, do an appreciable amount of damage to foes that aren't attacking you. Diplomacy is good for getting NPCs attacking you to attack one of your companions.

Yeah, I always try to attack from behind in the group but those goblin wizards were one shotting me with their lightning attacks!

I've been using the auto mechanic leveling so I can be useful with traps and chests.

In fairness, more than one of us got one-shot with those lightning attacks. If you are in my group, I will try to get behind the monsters more quickly so that we can meet in the middle, it will give both of us a better chance of landing hits if we flank them. When I played a Rogue, I didn't have an artificer to compare myself against, but I found that using the Tumble skill to get to the back of a group of enemies worked well - but I don't think I did much on Elite, either.

Just a reminder, tonight is our 1st Tuesday play session starting at 9EST. Hope to see you guys there.

I'm going to drop. I won't make it tonight and I'm already too far behind.

This is not one of the Tuesdays I can make it, but I'll be in for Thursday.

If you are having fun, stay. You are not hurting the group in any way by being a few quests behind.

None of the quests we did are required for any other quest we are going to be doing. I don't think anyone missing a night or two is a huge deal. No one will take an XP hit unless we are more than 4 levels apart. I do not see us gaining more than 1 level a week even running two nights.

I want everyone to have fun, not feel like you have to play catch up every week. I say don't worry about catching up at all. Just jump in a play on any night you can make it.

If you still want to drop, I understand. I just don't want you to feel like you have to drop because you miss a couple of nights.

Is there a reason we start so late? How many west coast peeps actually play? 9PM can sometimes be late for me since I wake up so early and I'm not young anymore!

Looking back at the other thread it was SpyNavy who was available to start at 9 EST. If earlier works better for everyone I have no problem changing it.

I'm not sure I can start earlier. I can't get my 2-year-old reliably to sleep before 9:00. To make matters worse, I'm expecting to have a couple interruptions tonight. He's been very restless lately and all about being velcroed to mommy.

I'm in Mountain time so 9pm EST works best for me.

Ok, so Tuesdays aren't going to work so well for me for the next couple months.

edit - Sorry for the late note on this, but I'll be missing tonight as well; rec league softball game is at 8EST.

Sorry, the 9PM thing is hitting me in the face PLUS I'm evenings next week. The service contract at my work calls for 4 guys and we only have 3 and one of the guys has vacation one week out of every month this summer!

I'll try to keep up so I can jump back in asap.

Awe man. Wicked LTTP. I woulda been into this.

[enabling]We are only a little into level 4, if you have Veteran's Status (or want to buy it while it is on sale) you could get right in. [/enabling]
Last night was great! I have never done that outdoor area, so the "get the dogs" quest was a nice change of scenery. Sucks that we didn't get all the dogs back, I blame the monk-loving wolves.

We tore up those Kobold sewers, though. No amount of hidden wolf was going to mess us up there, I don't think we had a single death in that whole run.

You guys got me so excited about playing, that I splurged on one of the Premium adventure packs (Three Barrel Cove), and I am willing to sport some 180 minute guest passes so that we can do those, too. Maybe not next week, because I want to keep the Elite chain boost going, but perhaps if we mostly hit 5 by next week, the week after would be good?

I would hold off on Three Barrel cove till the next update. They are added a ton of new loot to it in the next patch. (Now in open beta and no longer under NDA). I have some extra TP for any guest passes we need as well.

I am glad you guys had fun in waterworks. Sorry I dropped early but I needed the extra sleep, been getting up earlier the last few days.

Come on Rabbit join us, if you don't have veteran status, I can spare some time to get you caught up. At level 4 you are really not that far behind.

I could also just wait till you all hit 7 (grin). Seeing what I've got going in the account. I think it might have been wiped previously (it was flagged press I think, not sure). I pinged PR to see if they can fix me all up pretty.
