NHL 2012-2013: Tentative deal early Sunday January 6

The Kings PK embarrassed the Coyote power play. I think Quick took a nap during one of them. Coyotes couldn't even get across the blue line, let alone mount any sort of attack on the net.

All I want to say is 4 more!!!!! Go kings go!

And at the rate those guys are going, 5 tops.

Disappointing Rangers loss last night, to come back in your own building, down 3-0, only to lose is heart-breaking. Devils played like crap, and still beat them.

Can I get a 1994 repeat?

I'm looking forward to the Rangers getting knocked out, but I was kind of hoping they would let the Kings do it.

The Kings are 12-2 against the top three seeds in the West. The Rangers are 10-9 against the bottom three seeds in the East. I'd like to see LA knock off another #1 seed.

As bummed as I am that the Blues got swept, it has been fun watching the run LA is on.

Even as a Rangers fan, I am in awe and have been pulling for the Kings to go as far as they have. I think if the Rangers lose, I will be rooting hard for the Kings.

The Rangers are looking beat up. I think the constant shot blocking is finally getting to them. If they pull out this series somehow I think the Kings will have an easy road to the Cup. Given that the Devils seem to have quite a bit more energy at this point, I think they'll put up a fight but either way the Kings just look too good to beat.

I don't really care who wins but am just hoping for some exciting games.

I think the Kings might be in trouble, they have yet to face a team as physical as the Devils or Rangers. I do fear, however, that what you say above is true, and the Rangers will not have enough left in the tank to force a Game 7.

Side note, I will laugh if the Devils start chanting "1994" as time winds down with a lead, a-la, the "1940" chants that Pittsburgh fans used to scream as they eliminated them from the playoffs in the early 90's. I will hate it, but I will laugh. At least it will be original, unlike the "Rangers suck" chants they use at EVERY home hockey game they play. That tells me you secretly fear said team, since Rangers fans don't give the Devils a second thought

Another painful loss for the Rangers. This one hurts...

No Gaborik on the Cup makes me happy; Zidlicky I don't mind so much so I'm torn between rooting against the big city or the more recently annoying player. Are riots in L.A. worse if they win or lose, or does that not apply to hockey? Guess I'll root for the least amount of destruction, heh.

By my estimation the Blues play a similar game to the Rangers and are comparable in effectiveness. Look what the Kings did to them. The Devils have had a reasonable playoff thus far and will perhaps win two games.

Vancouver. 2011.

L.A. can barely get the local news to show the right logo on the screen for the Kings.

There's enough fan support for the team just because L.A. is so large and even a tiny percentage is still a big number.

But, no, I don't see L.A. rioting over hockey.

Yea, LA would be more prone to riots if the Lakers lost.

No riots in Newark, not many people there know there's a team there. There may be a squabble near the men's room in Prudential Center. And why do I have to pay extra for NBC Sports Network to see any of the first 4 games?

Because NBC are bastards. Folks who paid for Gamecenter got screwed pretty hard by the league.

Ugh, rough loss for the Rangers. Their road through the playoffs has been brutal and hard fought. It was a bummer ending to a great season.

I don't really care about who wins the cup now, I don't even have enough dislike of the Devils to root for LA over them. I can get pumped for the goalies, but that's about it.

Looking forward to this.

Lidstrom retired.

The NHL was better with him than without him. Sad day.

I will miss him. The Wings should honor him by signing Parise and Suter.

I think this really confirms that a young superstar defenceman ends up in Detroit. Either through free agency or a trade.

Kopitar is my hero!!!

Go Kings go!

3 more to go.

I love Kopitar's patience. Graceful, never hurried.

The game was on my OTA NBC channel last night. I'm assuming the whole series will. I guess I have to check the listings.

But I think the Kings dispelled the notion that they were not battle hardened enough for the finals.

This is turning into one of the most dominating playoff runs ever. And by an 8 seed.

That's good. Not for the rest of the Conference but for the Blues and the NHL. There was a real possibility that he wouldn't come over.

Yeah, Blues fans here in St. Louis have been sweating this out for some time. I'll still feel better when he can sign, but I did see that he passed up the deadline to commit to playing in the KHL.

It's a huge addition that makes the Blues offseason considerably more manageable. I have to believe that the strong season by St. Louis, as well as packed house most every night at Scottrade, helped make it a more attractive move. He can step in and be a part of another run at the Cup.

DP for the Syberian Tiger.

Tarasenko chooses NHL, agrees to sign with Blues

Tarasenko, 20, who was the 16th overall pick in the 2010 NHL draft, has agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Blues, but he has not actually signed the deal. The NHL's collective-bargaining agreement does not allow unsigned draft picks to sign with teams from 5 p.m. Eastern on June 1 through June 30.

Jeff Carter is my hero!

Go Kings go!

2 more to go!

Devils played their better for most of the game. But Kings were better in OT and caught up with them in shots by the game winning goal.

Kopitar is still my real hero. Played an awesome defensive game.

The team that emerges from the East (NY obviously), will be a battle hardened team hardened for more blood. The Kings, after they dust there way to the finals, won't be ready.

Or they will continue to annihilate everyone in their path.
