No, I'm working tomorow.. And working sunday, so need somewhere to sleep..

Working = No Play

I downloaded it and it crashed on the server page. Open - crash. Open - crash. Open - crash. Uninstalled.

For those having issues with the game after they download, I highly recommend verifying the files in Steam.

They put out a small patch which might have addressed something (no detailed changelog), also using the out-of-game steam server browser works.

It seems like Day of Defeat somehow, mix with a Battlefield game somewhere.

I tried to play yesterday evening again, I was able to see the server. Got in one, was asked to choose a class, which I did.. and Had a 3 minutes timer renewing every 3 minutes. So, I saw others play, with this 3 minutes timer all the time.

Guess I'll need a tutorial somewhere.. which I guess is in the single player mission?

Yes, at various stages through the campaign it runs you through various features of gameplay.

There are times when you dont spawn. It's a stupid bug I cant believe they havent fixed yet. Your best bet is to hit escape and choose you side/class/whatever again and it should spawn you with the next round of reinforcements.

If you're playing one of the modes (cant think of the name) then it's one life per round and you wont spawn in until the next round. That may have been where you were. A 3 minute timer sounds way too long to me for any mode though. Could've been a custom setting.

Probably a good idea. I did that and it had to convert my game format. First time i've seen that message.

I had to do that with another game. I believe it redownloads the game so it's more Steam-compliant for updates. I think it was The Witcher 2 that also did that. Stopped me from having 8 gb downloads every other day.

If you've already got the files, the conversion process is apparently just verifying them. After that you've got any patches, so in the case of RO2 a 5GB monster.

It updated the game to the 'GOTY' version.

New map: ROCKS!
New game mode: Sucks Balls!

So uh... silly question but where's the GWJ server info?

(just bought it ... been dying to play something more realistic than the MW3 and BF3 run & gun drivel.)

There is none at the moment. Certis has one, but it's not up all the time. I dont know the last time he turned it on, actually.

I forgot how much fun this game was, the patch made it even better. Having a great weekend playing on full servers.. I hope this keeps up

Came here just to say this. It's even worse in the eastern hemisphere because there isn't a massive market for niche PC games in the region. Nevertheless, there was a Japanese server with full 64 man games going non-stop over the weekend. I'm interested to see how popular it is tonight.

Classic mode is a lot of fun too. Not too different from hardcore mode, except you can't shoot for sh*t when someone else is shooting at you. That didn't bother me so much because usually if someone is shooting at me, I'm a goner anyway. I'm also pretty sure you can't bandage yourself in that mode, so you have to play a bit more cautiously.

Classic is just that classic. Way the game should be played imho.

The new mode is arcade and is just bullsh*t. 2 shots to the head to drop someone...absolute bullsh*t. Seriously... HALO in ww2?

That was the annoying thing for me over the free weekend lots and lots of action mode servers rather than a range, although credit to Tripwire for getting a ton of servers ready for the free weekend.

I bought this just because it was on sale. I don't even play MP games, but wanted to support devs who make "realistic" shooters. Anyone have some noob-friendly advice -- recommended servers, game nights, starter classes (if there are classes), etc.?

The campaign missions run you through the basics, and most of the are pretty short. Besides that, take it steady and don't rush into a meat grinder.

Rather large patch rolled out today, but the devs say that this is to convert the game to Steam's newer content system, which will make future updates easier. Other than that it mostly looks like tweaks and a few bugs.

Rising Storm stuff:

French article with some pics.

Nine minutes of footage.

Free Weekend! Servers are full again and it's full of fresh meat. Like, 15 year old conscripts.

Anybody playing RisingStorm? Green Man Gaming has it for $9 (50% off plus another 10% coupon).

Not sure this is my type of game, but I've watched some vids that look interesting.

Are one or two hit kills okay with you? That seems to be the toughest part for many people. RO is like playing on hardcore for most games.

I've played a bit of Rising Storm and I don't like the maps as much as the vanilla game. That makes sense since they were done by modders.

Ah, the sale is off now anyway. But it might come up again.

I got a few hours of RO2 play in after getting it on the Humble Bundle. Seemed OK, but not something I'm going to play as much as a BF game.

I still play pretty regularly. The maps have grown on me as well. Some are a bit unbalanced, but it feels like a freshened up version of Stalingrad in many respects.
