Fable news...

I think this picture says it all...

:edit:
And I just noticed.. kinda ironic they burned it to a Sony DVD. Isn't this an Xbox game? lol

Good news! Hopefully it doesn''t crumble under the weight of its ""cool"" features at the expense of gameplay.

*crosses fingers*

Oh please, let this come close to living up to the hype. Just close.

Then... please... PLEASE... let it come to the PC with a decent port.

Baby steps Demo, baby steps. Understand that the only people developing big RPGs for the PC are making MMORPGS now.

Awesome! I''m really looking forward to this. Hopefully it''ll hold me over until HL2.

Amen, brotha, a-f-ing-men!

Yeah, so I''ve seen... which is crap. I enjoy the storylines and playing and such... not so much the need for more levels or the looting and all that. Fable sounds like exactly the kind of game I''d like to play... but I''m not gonna fork over the cash for an X-box and the game just to play it.

I''d phrase this as ""Oh please, let this be under the christmas tree in a package with my name on it (and not on the from part either as my bro also wants) along with Halo2 and let them BOTH come close to living up to the hype""

I preordered this when EB was offerring free Overnight Shipping. Guess who''s going to be out sick at least one day next month?

I hope you''re not including NWN2 or BG3 in that statement.

Or Fallout 3, or ElderScrolls IV, or Troika''s mystery RPG, or KOTOR II.
Edit: VtM Bloodlines

Oh very yes, I will soon enough have my vile secretions all over the Fable DVD, put it in my XBox and sit 30 inch away from the TV and soak it all up with eyes widened by excitement so much, you could sink a medium sized living room in them.

Secretions and excrements, brrrr! Oh sorry, that was excitement.

Why not?? You could play Fable and then Jade Empire .....the list will just keep growing.

Uhhhh... except that last I heard, the life span of the current crop of systems was more than half over... seems kinda silly to me...

I''m of the mindset that PC gamers would pick up Fable and Jade Empire very quickly if it was made available to us.

I think this picture says it all...

Oh no Fable''s been bought by Sony and is a PS2 exclusive!!!

Right, i''m an idiot. Verified.

Nah. Most likely those haven''t gotten near the hype or coverage that, oh, I don''t know, maybe DOOM3 has, or Half-life 2, or Halo 2.

Plus, with JO on your hard drive, what else do you need?

Well, I shouldn''t have missed VtM: Bloodlines at the very least. Could''ve claimed that BG3 won''t be a real RPG and that KOTOR''s an XBox game, but it was a oversight on my part.

That said, I just popped Medieval back in and i''ve got something to take up my time again.

BACK ON TOPIC: IGN continues the verbal diahrreah on this game. Being Good!

The IGN article made the game sound great, until I read this:

A lot of folks have been wondering how divergent the story becomes based on your alignment. The main story won''t really change at all. You will have several choices between good and evil during the required quests, but none of your choices will alter the ultimate outcome.

Not this PC gamer. I have by no means converted to XBox gaming, but there are some games (KOTOR, Fable and Jade are three excellent examples) which insist on being played in their native environment.

That, and I''m not interested in several more months just for the PC release at the cost of the next game. I want it all now, dammit!

1Dgaf: The ending''s the same?! That is kinda creepy. I wonder if it''s a Throne of Bhaal kind of ending.

They say the ending''s the same. I don''t know what the Throne of Bhaal is. (If it might be a spoiler for a game, don''t tell me.)

Seems to me that a game about a quest and fulfilling that quest through one''s life, should have multiple endings depending on how that life is lived. Otherwise it''d become an exercise in seeing how you''re character affects the world - and him it - but without any actual consequence of importance.

Here''s hoping it''s good.

As to your moral choices not affecting the ultimate outcome, I think that''s because the game is leading to a showdown with the bad buy that wipes out your village at the beginning of the game (that''s what happens, isn''t it?), and whether you''re good or evil you''re still going to kick his ass in the boss fight and win the game.

They say the ending''s the same. I don''t know what the Throne of Bhaal is. (If it might be a spoiler for a game, don''t tell me.)

Throne of Baal was the name of the expansion pack for Baldur''s Gate 2. I believe he was refering to the ending of said expansion.

I think TeamXbox or IGN will be posting a review of the game today after 10am.

[edit] 1pm est.

From xbox.ign.com''s review:

And it''s not like you are the one dying on the quests, it''s some person who is only important for the duration of that optional quest. See, you just won''t die in Fable If you do, well, you really need to brush up on your gaming skills. First, you will find an abundance of revival potions as if they were discarded pennies. Revival potions instantly restore your full health should it go to zero, essentially renewing your life before you have a chance to die. These alone make it almost impossible to die, even in the final two boss battles (which are quite cool). Fable''s too easy for its own good. I understand making things a little less tough for the mass market, but this is ""stroll through the park on a sunny summer Sunday"" kind of easy. That''s not to say you won''t feel challenged in combat, but the reality of death just isn''t there. There''s more pressure to avoid getting scars than there are to avoid dying, especially if you learn the healing spell. Then you''ll never even need a revival potion.

They gave it a 9.3 so I''m sure I''ll enjoy the game but I hope it''s not as easy as they make it out to be.

The TeamXBox review gave the same impression, though not quite so directly.

Short, shallow and easy. Guess I''ll just have to drop this onto the ""rent"" list. Oh well, lots more releases a-comin''.

That''s the impression I got as well. This was a must have for me, but I think I''m going to hold off initially and see what people think.
