Pencon 2012

Consider Strangeblades and Lasherthecat taking a gypsy wagon. Dibs!

Oily has the basics of it. For simplicity's sake it comes down to no outside booze other than home brew for the competition. And we'll be hosting the competition outside of the castle proper to remain in compliance as well. That's really a formality though, as my Finger In Your IPA is sure to win regardless of where the judging happens...

The good news is as soon as I hook up with our distributor (working on that now), I'm going to give Oily a list of what they carry and we're going to tailor a beer/wine menu for the event. There will be plenty of actual good beer choices to go around, no worries.

Do people need a license to sell to you? Cause otherwise you could just have everyone sell you what they bring for $0.01.

Yes, they'd need a license to sell. And there's state minimum pricing even if they did happen to be licensed distributors.

Also, don't forget that Teneman needs to make a couple bucks in order to keep the lights (torches?) on and allow us to come back next year.

And lets not forget sales tax!

I came back to the thread to learn I'll be sleeping in a castle! Glorious!

Make sure to let us know soonest when we can reserve rooms, gents. Very much looking forward to it.

Coincidentally, the PC12 theme is Carnevale di Venezia, so you will fit right in.

We'll be in Florida.

I could give you a ride up there, but I am guessing you are going to be in Florida to stay in Florida.

I got my Artemis video up and working. I have no idea why it is so skinny As you can tell I am technologically challenged...

Works great when viewing on my phone XD

Ok, two awesome things:

1) I was planning to make every effort to attend Pencon this year, and HOLY sh*t ITS IN A CASTLE WOOOO.

2) I've wanted to play that Artemis thing with a group and HOLY sh*t ARTEMIS AT PENCON WOOOO.

Too right. Who'd want to live in Florida?

Hey, I was born down here, only reason I still live down here is the friends and family. I particularly hate living in this state, it has horribly aggressive driving and way too much heat and humidity. I would prefer to live more north, but now I own a house down here so whatever T_T

seriously though, back on topic, other than artemis, console, and board games what are the major attractions for pencon? Oh and I guess your boozin' which I shall not partake of. What are the normal pencon activities?

You are not alone, Fedora, my wife and I are also in the DDFL club. But we are clearly in the minority.

Edit: Sorry I shouldn't speak to Fedora's life plan and drinking, but for now he isn't old enough.

I do drink, but I'm definitely on the lighter end of the PenCon scale

There's tournaments aplenty to keep everyone busy, there were game demos, there were moments of console co-op awesomeness. I imagine there'll be a certain percentage of iPad board game players. Join the club of Vita/3DS owners and play all the multiplayer games that are adhoc only. All in all it may not sound like much, but there's so much stuff available that you will likely not get to it all.

You can always spectate as I drink Dyni under the table.

But generally it'll be too busy with meeting/greeting/gaming for there to be any lulls.

Hanging out with other goodjers is a major attraction.

In all honesty, we are there to play games. Your friendly PenguinCon staff is working diligently on events planning, but expect it to be a mixture of organized chaos and pick-up gaming of all kinds. We are considering adding something new this year, which will be off-site, but we're still discussing details. www.penguincon.com will be updated in the future with all the details.

I also can't drive ;_;

I think this year will be significantly lighter on the drinking since we'll need to buy it all on location (except for homebrew stuff). We'll see.

Anyway, stop making fun of the weirdo teetotalers. They're people too.
