I can't count the reasons I should stay, One by one they all just fade away. Community S6! #andamovie

Troy and Abed shooting la-va

I woke up longing for some kind of Community/Blade Runner mashup. Is that weird?

Did anyone else say creepy the exact same time as Troy did when Britta gave him a lock of her hair?

As a somewhat Bible illiterate Bible thumping Christian, Shirley telling Jeff to throw the case was the most Christian thing she's ever done on the show. I really liked it.

While I wildly enjoyed myself, can I still say i'm a little sad they didn't get more mileage out of John Goodman? Maybe he had other commitments, I dunno, but I felt like he got pretty underutilized on the whole, the dude's a great actor.

Yeah, disappointed. I even said to my wife "he can't be dead, he's only been in like 3 episodes!"

Oh well. 90 minutes of awesome. I too was out last night with some friends that were visiting. Finally got to settle in and watch tonight, and it was almost too much awesome. Seriously my wife and I paused for snacks and then bathroom breaks between episodes. Needed a few minutes to digest the greatness of the previous ep before overloading my brain with more.

I do hope they get John Oliver back next year. I think not having him would be my only complaint about this season. Everything else was pretty amazing.

And we're getting shafted to Fri nights.

Might as well plan the graduation series finale for ep 13, and be done with it.

I do love Chevy, but honestly this show is the best thing he's done since about 1990. Whatever sh*t went down with him and Harmon, I think NBC backed the wrong horse.

Well, hope springs eternal. But my fear is that this may be like taking David Simon out of The Wire, or Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer off The Venture Brothers. The show is so much tied into that particular person's vision, taking them away... well...

...I'm going to stay positive. Even if the move to Friday is pretty much akin to taking Old Yeller behind the barn.

The 3-part finale was also a series low in terms of ratings, so I'm not feeling too rosy about anything past 13 episodes next season.

Yeah. I don't get this move. If you're getting rid of Harmon, you might as well cancel the show. I worry that the next 13 episodes will be cringe worthy. They should have gotten rid of Chevy - it's clear the writers no longer had any clue what to do with the character.

AV Club and Sepinwall keep mentioning Harmon possibly being a consultant or something. Don't know if it's based on reality, or just some wild speculation, but, maybe this isn't the darkest timeline, it's just close.

EDIT: Maybe I should actually read the AV Club, where they outright say he's staying as a consulting producer.

So, maybe this isn't as bad as we all feel right now. Maybe he'll still be the main creative voice, and these new guys just do the functionary stuff, like deal with Chevy Chase? Eh? Eh? Help me out here, I'm trying to lighten the mood.

'Course, "consulting producer" is a term that could represent anything within a wide range between "still heavily involved in the writing and overall direction of the show, just no longer working with Chevy on a day-to-day basis" and "given a title and a paycheck to shut him up."

Which is what his interview seemed to be leaning towards.

You guys didn't read his blog post that was linked. He's entirely out of the picture. So most likely we got a triptych series finale for the Community we know and love.

Sorry to disappoint you, but he sounds pretty pissed off right now.

EDIT: That'll teach me to refresh page before posting.

The other night actually would have been a fine enough sendoff. I'm very afraid of the Zombie Community they'll be cooking up.

Troy and Abe shooting laaaaava!

Edit: Holy crap I've been Tanhaaaauuuser'd!

Weak. Well, I still like the character, so I'll see where it goes, but I, too, have the fear.

Harmon was Community. In an era where Mike and Molly seems unstoppable, it's a miracle the show lasted this long without the brass walking in and clearing house. Removing him from the show effectively kills it.

I'm guessing the new season will focus much more on Alison Brie's cleavage and the jokes will all be of the fart or knock-knock variety, you know, to get the ratings.

On a slightly related note re: pandering, have you ever noticed the trailers here in Canada for Modern Family make the show look like a series of pratfalls and goofy faces? No mention at all of the word play and verbal sparring. You'd think that was kinda deliberate.

I finally finished all three episodes.

The writing is on the wall, this series is toast.

It's such a shame, the really good stuff doesn't appeal to the masses, if it's not some B.S. singing/talent/reality show the hoi polloi wont' get behind it and it goes away.

Admittedly, I don't know how much story the show has left in it anyway, they've worked the Jeff + Annie and Jeff + Britta and Chang + Shirley and Troy + Brita angle, not much else to do in the love aspect and while the special episodes are the best thing on TV in a long time, I don't know how many more angles they could work but I'm not a creative type.

Maybe if they did a "Community, CSI edition" or "Community, Who can sing de bestest" edition or "Community, rednecks doing some redneck sh*t" edition, or "Community, really old sh*t from a barn or storage unit" edition or "Community, pawn shop" edition it would stay on the air.

I swear, this show is on it's way out, the Office is almost done (and really hasn't had that many good episodes lately anyway), next year is it for 30 Rock, anyone with a sense of humor similar to mine, not the kind of people who actually watch two and a half men and think it's funny, might as well cancel their cable.... Oh well, don't they have a "CSI, Swamp People" coming out soon?

Tim

It is kind of horrifying to realize that this will have thyree-and-a-half turbulent, barely canceled seasons, but America apparently feels that "2 Broke Girls" is the breakout new comedy on TV.

Sports Night had two seasons. Friends had ten. This is nothing new.

The little wave and shake with the bone saw were super funny. I probably laughed hardest at this.

Sidenote: Why are animated GIFs back? And why on tumblr?

That was the funniest part of all three episodes.

Nice hair.

Giant forehead, though.

I have a fancy new 8-Bit Community ringtone. I anticipate many turned heads and jealous faces.

Also, controversy control measures by the production staff regarding Dan Harmon

oh em gee, you're totes jotes.

So sad. And thus goes my favorite show on TV.

But also so happy. The 8-bit episode literally had me watching slack-jawed, teary-eyed with glee, and giggling like a schoolgirl.

That links to the original Hollywood Reporter article. And they have several more good articles from this week.

A showrunner's perspective.

And Why NBC is still "Leno-ing", aka doing stupid things.
