Boston, MA Area GwJr's

Ok, Outdoor Rock Band concert on the 26th it is.

The park I had in mind for Northborough apparently requires town residency to reserve the pavillion. Anyone know a Northborough resident?

Otherwise, I'll keep looking for a park with outlets (and that allows beeeeeeer).

Edit: Hopefully we can do some board games too.

I will bring my entire board game collection and some sort of surface to play them on.

I've got Arkham Horror and a few of its expansions, if that's needed. Also, if someone is up for Carpooling from the Hub, I'm down with that.

We (Polypusher and myself) are in Marlborough MA and want to set up hangouts.

Wow! That is a lot closer to me that I expected. I'm in a Worcester suburb, myself, so getting there is no problem at all. If you just want a place to play, I spend a lot of of time at "The Whiz" in Westborough - 15 minutes or so from Marlborough, right on Route 9.

After posting my "concert" idea in the other thread, Amazon read my mind and put up a cheap projector as a daily deal, so I had to pounce. Maybe something could be done at the park you mentioned, that would be totally awesome!

The Whiz is a cool place. What do you play there? I have been trying to talk myself into stopping by for Warmachine and for painting night.

I have Zombie Dice (and the expansion), Ascension (only the base game), Wizard's Gambit, and Epic Spell Wars. All will be coming with me.

I have this nagging feeling that I can't do that day! Tragedy! I will have to see what I can manage. If I can do it, I am still in possession of the GWJ Risk Legacy game and I have Lords of Waterdeep, Illuminati, Catan and Carcassone.

I have been organizing the Encounters nights for over a year - though I think I will be handing over the reins to someone else, and I organize a weekly LFR (Living Forgotten Realms - organized D&D) game on Sundays. If there was more space available, we would probably have 2 tables of that every week.

Sure, I'm game! (ha!)

Barring unforeseen circumstances, etc, I should be able to join the party and bring along my meager collection of board games: D&D Wrath of Ashardalon, Ticket to Ride, 7 Wonders, Dominion, and Forbidden Island.

Well, if Atras can't do the 26th we can't do Rock Band, therefore any park with a gazebo and tables will do, right?

Alternately, we could do a day other than the 26th.

Great news everybody! I don't actually have anything going on that day. A 360, my Rock Band set up and a projector should be no problem. I need power, and if people have some better Guitars for Rock Band, plus a stool for drums, that would be good. Depending on sunlight, we could use a white sheet to project onto, and I hope to find a way to get the 360 output to split so there can be a screen in front of the band and the projector at the same time.

Ok, so as it turns out, I can't find a park with electricity that does not also have noise restrictions (campsites mostly). What I did find was lots of places with covered picnic areas that would probably be perfect for gaming.

How about board games in the park (with drinking on the sly) and anyone who wants can come over for rock band after?

If you're really into the outdoor Rock Band idea I'm gonna need help finding a place. I can't find an option other than someone's back yard. We're in a townhouse so that doesn't exist!

I can live with that.

So the park I'm thinking of is not technically labeled on the map, but it is the medium sized green blobby south of the labeled dot. I can't reserve it since I don't live in Northborough, but I can get there pretty early on the 26th and, I dunno, nap across some tables?

Demyx and I are a maybe with a good possibility of a no show due to a possible scheduling conflict that weekend Hopefully next time!

It occurs to me only now, for some reason, that the weekend we picked is Memorial Day Weekend. I'm still down with doing it on the 26th, but would more people come if we postponed?

Oh hey, about this. Things turned out for the best for us so we are free that weekend!

I don't think we'd have a problem either way.

I had assumed it was picked on Memorial Day weekend on purpose.

The 26th is no good for me, I've got family coming into town.

Bring them

I'm in Belmont but I head out to Marlborough on the regular. I'm gonna be out in the woods on the 26th but I'm down for future MA Goodjeing.

I'm planning to bring a snackyfood of some kind to share, but if you want substantial food, you are on your own! I'm planning to arrive at the park around 9 am to snag tables.

For games, we've got so far: Zombie Dice (and the expansion), Ascension, Wizard's Gambit, and Epic Spell Wars, D&D Wrath of Ashardalon, Ticket to Ride, 7 Wonders, Dominion, and Forbidden Island. Polypusher and I will bring more.

One concern with the games, though.... for pretty much all of these, one strong breeze and we're starting over, you know? Cardboard + wind = 52 card pickup. Anyone have some "Iron Die" to use as paperweights XD??

So far we've got enough to get two games of something going. Did I miss anyone?

Demyx

Polypusher
Atras
Costontine
merphle

I think we'll be bringing Quarriors! with us since that's dice based and less likely to blow away (there are some cards but they can easily be weighted down with dice I think). Is there a google map for this park so we know where we're driving to (and maybe to help scout for food)?

shoptroll, I have been dying to try that game.

Me too!

That's as close as I can get you somehow, but you can pop in directions at least.

What time do we want to start?

Just found this thread. I should be free on Saturday and this looks to be about a half hour away from Arlington. I have a fully sleeved copy of Dominion ready for picnic table play. And I'm sure I have a few more games that work outdoors (Ca$h and Guns, maybe?)

I forgot about this. Should I come? I don't really do boardgames, but I suppose I'm willing to learn, or just watch and socialize. I'm a little shy, never S&T'd before.

There will also be rock band.

I think Rock Band would have to happen at my house, after picnicking. I dont think we were able to figure out the logistics around an outdoor, broad daylight rock band session.

Yes, everyone should come, and bring a snack/drinks! Polypusher and I will try to get there fairly early so we can get the tables, but anyone with a smallish folding card table is welcome/encouraged to bring one.

Rock Band logistics were fail, since I couldn't find a park with electricity that didn't also require money.

The area is covered, though, so we can all remain pasty, freckly nerds :D!

Let's say 11 o clock?

I might have a work-around. I have a DC->AC adapter for my car, a hatchback. If I can run both the 360 and the projector through this adapter, I ought to be able to project onto a screen hanging from the hatchback and we have outdoor Rock Band.
