Diablo III Catch-All 2.0

I decided to get the game and got it installed. Of course I can't play yet because there seems to be maintenance. Anyway my tag is Cragmyre#1609 and my steam id is in my signature.

Don't know if it's an issue or not but I noticed that on the EU digital download version, the server still defaults to "The Americas" (or it did for me anyway - maybe it remembered it from the beta?).

I wonder if the US servers are getting hit extra hard because people over here aren't noticing right away?

Servers down and I just got home to play... ARRRRGGGG!!!!

Welcome to the rest of the week.

I pity the fools who thought it was worth using a vacation day to try to play this today. ;)

Yay for unemployment!

Well, I certainly hope you've been one of the lucky ones who's gotten to actually play it today instead of playing the Login Screen subgame then!

Thankfully I got up at 5:30 am so I could play. I had figured the servers would be f'ed up after midnight, but clear up by early morning, so I went to bed early, did my best it's-christmas-eve-and-i'm-5-years-old impression and got up to play. Got some good time in before hte morning downtime, hitting lvl 11. Got a 3-man GWJer party going when servers scame back around 1 and played for another hour and change before they went down again. Not too shabby, but less than I'd expected.

that's curious. and odd. and possibly causing more hell (hehe) than blizzard expected.

Added myself to the doc. LupusUmbrus#1806

Doing the single player run before co-op thing, but looking forward to smashing demons with fellow goodjers.

On top of the server issues, my internet keeps sh*tting itself. I wonder if it has anything to do with Diablo constantly trying to connect to the server.

So some people have actually been able to play Diablo III? Blizzard must know my schedule, any attempt I've made at playing the game during my free time hasn't got past the title screen.

I'm starting to think there is no actual gameplay and everyone who says they actually got to play is lying.

Steam invites sent to macbrave and cragmyre.

3:30 pm looks like go time. I guess I'll have to find something to do until then.

I have a level 10 barbarian on Normal from this morning's Goodjer run, and this afternoon I was able to get a Demon Hunter up to level 8 on Hardcore. Killing the Skeleton King was a LOT different when you aren't allowed to die and are squishy.

Anyhow, the middle girl turned 3 today and we're off to Chuck-E-by-god-Cheese for some "pizza" and fun, hopefully things will be up and running later. Cheers!

UGGGH I HATE YOU BLIZZARD!

the boredom/anxiety made me click on spoilers on some forum..

what's been seen in the first 15 sec of the video cannot be unseen.

guhghghhh i hate myself, i m so dumb.

Still havent gotten steam invite. http://steamcommunity.com/id/WayfarerJones/

and as with others, finally got home to play and boom, serverheadshot

I, too, have every confidence that THIS particular "one hour till go time" prediction will be the correct one, and the other 4 identical predictions were just for funsies.

Very glad Warlock released so I have something to do besides hammer the login button on this.

Herp Derp now I am home and I can enjoy the true Diablo experience of trolling the bnet forums to see when the game is up!

Steam invite would be appreciated.

EDIT: Thanks for the invite tuff

Gah, should have expected it, but disappointing nonetheless.

Had a fun time at lunch today going out with some friends from work to pick up copies. The five of us cleaned the shelf at Walmart out, leaving only one left on the shelf. The best part though is that a game clerk came chasing after us as we were checking out and gave everyone a free poster! Very cool, especially for Walmart.

Gunner#1363 for my Battletag.

Invites sent to Wayfarer and TheArtOfScience.

It's just a massive bot campaign from Blizzard... All this is a 7 gig download for a login screen... Highest grossing video game heist ever.

One thing that would be nice is if the social interface reminded me who I've invited to my game. b/c I have no brain and hence will likely accidentally spam some of you when you decline. Apologies in advance.

Ah, but wait until you get in and see the majesty of the rainbow waterfalls zone. The unicorns are magnificent.

You size, configure and stage enough servers to meet that demand. Maybe even add in extra for unbridled optimism. Then demand outstrips available resource. It's not like you have spare servers ready to go. If you did, you might as well have put them online to begin with. So now you scramble.

Having said that, the fact that servers are being taken down implies software changes are being applied. Wonder what limit the true stress test found...

They need to fire a few sysadmins and hire some data center consultants. With all the data they've collected on WoW launches and the like, they should have this down. This is pretty much the failest fail that ever failed.

Also, has Blizzard not heard of outsourcing to cloud companies on a pay-as-you-go basis?

What do you guys think about a Witch Doctor build based around dots instead of pets? Kinda like an affliction lock. The pets all seem underwhelming to me.

Thats my preferred way to play him. Not a fan of the pets...

I am so mad at myself I could chew sand and spit glass. Looks like I won't be playing this for a bit after all, but it's not Blizzard's fault.

I didn't read enough of the fine print on the system requirements - my processors aren't up to snuff. I saw AMD 4400 and thought I was going to squeak by, but I have two 64 X2 4200+ in this box. I'd planned on upgrading this poor creature's brains later this summer. Will have to see about that sooner rather than later, now.

And now if you'll excuse me, I need to go use some VERY unlady-like language and find out what this motherboard can handle.

Sure. Of course UPS drops off my copy when the servers are down.

+1

Got it installed, watched the cutscene - went to logon and "Servers Down Until 1830 Eastern". Khaaaaannnnn!!!!

Sigh....

Well, so much for my resolve. I hate the always online DRM control, but finally realized with millions of folks buying D3, my individual principled protest didn't mean diddly and all I was doing was depriving myself of some enjoyment. I know I'll get $60.00 worth of entertainment out of this, so I am installing form the disc as we speak.

I can imagine how Blizzard is between a rock and a hard place right now.

Imagine, if you will...

So you plan for release with an estimate of peak demand during that most important first day/week. You size, configure and stage enough servers to meet that demand. Maybe even add in extra for unbridled optimism. Then demand outstrips available resource. It's not like you have spare servers ready to go. If you did, you might as well have put them online to begin with. So now you scramble.

Not sure I'll be getting to this before Wednesday evening. :-(

I suspect, have no proof at all, that the issue is more about a bug with character creation. Which has the side effect of jamming everything else up. I looked at my stats before the server went down and it had 2 lvl 1 copies of my first character being listed, but when i goto my character screen i just have the one. I'd assume this down time today has been to clean some of that up. Which in their defense probably wasnt an issue until trying to deal with the numbers they have for launch.

Unexpected inheritance, I collect Diablo 3!

Add to steam group good sirs!
