Got rid of it. You can portal anytime post Leorics Crown.

To clarify, you get a stone instead of scrolls/book which has a minor cooldown so you can't spam it. All the convenience of TP from D2, but without the need to hit the magic vendor every trip back to town.

EDIT: Also, it doesn't take up inventory slots.

Isn't there also an item that allows you to sell things while you're out of town?

Could someone PM me with a guest pass? I'll send you one back once my copy arrives tomorrow (so long as GaStopo doesn't cancel my order for some reason).

What's the difference between the guest pass and starter edition?

Oh, and I think a Guest Pass is what grants you access to the Starter Edition, judging by the info there.

Neat page, hadn't seen that. Apparently the starter edition is like the starter edition for WoW, except that at least for now it looks like they want to limit their download and server bandwidth for paid customers and friends of paid customers, so you need a guest pass to obtain the starter edition.

Just played coop with A few GWJers and it was fun. Loving the atmosphere and addictive action. Like how loot is all yours and no one else's:). On normal, the difficulty doesn't seem to go up too much when group size increases. I also quickly learned not to veer to far from my allies as a wizard. I died once and wa warned that after level 10 items and weapons would take damage. Overall, it seems they have done a great job allowing for quick jump in/out of coop games and I look forward to playing more.

I thought they gutted that. Or maybe I'm thinking of the Horadric item that broke items down to their components. I know that feature was moved to the crafters, but I'm not sure about auto-selling in the field.

I'm on the fence about picking this up. Missed the open beta. Does anyone have a guest pass they'd be willing to part with to help me make up my mind?

Why yes they do. You can play to lvl 11 I think

Is it that easy? I thought that it wouldn't completely open up without a key from a boxed copy for about a month.

Sorry..duplicate

I went to bed early and got up at 3:45 pacific. I signed right in and played for a good 3 hours which allowed me to complete act 1.

I will put a couple of spoilers for only those that have finished act 1:

Spoiler:

The Butcher!!! Tyrael is a mortal! They killed Deckard Cain =( They are not pulling any punched and its just act 1.

gonna take awhile to get all the friend requests out..

I added everyone in the google doc. In case anyone is looking for it, it is here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...

These BattleTags showed up as invalid when I tried them:

Dethroned#1780
Lothar#1531
Senkrad#?? (obviously)
sirjoekcb (obviously)

I fixed a couple that didn't have the # character. Thank god for fullscreen windowed mode. That would have taken forever without being able to copy/paste back and forth quickly.

My wife and I hopped on this morning around 8:00 EST and had no problems, played through until 8:45 or so when I had to leave for work. So far, thumbs up!

UPS just pulled up!

I have to say it was really refreshing to get to new areas with new monsters from the beta. I did not miss the "Congratulations! You have completed the Diablo 3 beta."

Regarding game difficulty, you will have to quaff potions. I've listed some minor spoiler monster abilities below:

Spoiler:

Wow, um tunnelers, leapers, teleporters, chargers, pullers, jailers and wallers increase the difficulty immensely. Now imagine champions or rares that have 2-3 of these abilities. They can make quick work of my demon hunter.

I found my first legendary item, a pair of pants with a dozen magic properties and twice the armor of any drop so far.

added myself to the google doc (ruhk#1891).

I can log in fine, but I seem to be reliably getting booted about every 20 minutes. I suppose it's for the better as I might not otherwise have noticed that it's time for me to go to work.

So how do I use battle.net to find matches with GWJ folk?

So very fun! I skipped the beta and didn't really read much about the game ahead of time. Wandering into it with no expectations is a wonderful experience.

I'm in the "play through once solo" crowd, but the social integration is really cool so far. Seeing your friends achievements pop up as you play makes even the single player feel like a social experience. Also, if you really need to kill some brain cells you can always turn on General chat and read the gibbering of the masses!

Lothar#1531 should be Lothars#1531

Grumble. So, is it possible to reassign a basic attack once you've chosen your first skill (playing a witchdoctor here)?

I stopped playing the open beta about a couple months ago, just after they changed the skill system around again. I was getting a little bored with playing through the same areas repeatedly and the latest revision to the skill system just seemed wonky. I didn't really believe that they would actually stick with that system.

But, unless I'm missing something fundamental, it seems like it isn't possible to use a basic attack after the first couple minutes of the game. For my witchdoctor, this seems to mean that all of the weapons in the game are basically useless. I can see him running around carrying a bow or a dagger, but there's no way to use those weapons to actually, you know, ATTACK A MONSTER!

So far, pretty much all the character development has basically been a false choice; an illusion of choice where there really isn't any.

It seems very odd to me how they've so radically reduced the character customization in a series that seemed fundamentally about character customization.

I've been running with Blackanchor, Crunch, and Gumbie this AM. We are a clear and present danger to barrels, walls, and bookshelves everywhere.

Click the social button on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, add friend, and enter the battle.net IDs. I've yet to do this en masse but will do so after lunch.

The column labeled "In Steam Group" is ambiguous: is there a separate Steam Group for GWJs playing Diablo, or does that column just refer to folks being on the main GWJ Steam list?

polq37: I'm playing a barbarian, but it seems like the attacks themselves are driven by the skills in your slots and the runes you're using with them rather than the weapon itself. For example, whether or not I equip a one-handed club, two-handed sword, or dual wield two daggers, the attacks appear the same. I'm sure the math behind the scenes is very different, but so far that's been my experience.

For shame. What kind of gamers are we? Seems Korea has much more dedicated gamers than the US. I'm not seeing any pics of US midnight events with awesome cosplay like in these pictures.

I think the damage of your "signature attack" is based on your currently equipped weapon damage, and that any modifiers on the weapon are applied to the attack.

I haven't gotten far enough, but I think once more skills open up and the different rune modifiers open up, you have customization in the form of skill load outs. I wonder if theres a way to quick change the loadout?

I've completely ignored the game to date, beyond swearing to anyone who asked that I wasn't going to buy it.

Your signature attacks don't cost mana or anything, so theres really no need for a magic user to attack with a dagger/bow/whatever. These weapons are basically just used for their stats.

So my resolve not to buy this until I found a job lasted until my wife told me she's getting a big bonus next month. So long, financial sense; installing now!

Add people as friends in DIII (using the Google doc in the OP). It'll show when they're online in-game.

For Wiz if you hit at point blank and have a melee weapon you'll use the weapon rather than a ranged attack.
