NFL 2012 Draft Thread

Man, all of the NFC North logos are really bad. GB is clearly the worst though. Wow.

Definitely. Wth is that all about?

Damn, I like that vintage Lions logo.

"Revamped" streamlined team logos

Those are the opposite of "streamlined". They're excessively busy.

The person who made that Saints logo has never heard of "less is more".

Now the vintage logos, those are nice. They're actually logos. Logos are supposed to be iconic, not so busy and literal.

Somebody call a doctor, because I completely agree with Legion.

Good call. He helped win games for them when he was in Houston, think of how good he'll be once he's actually on the Ravens.

This is almost exactly what I read earlier on Twitter. You have to wonder what Jones himself thinks about this. Crazy.

I'll let him know you liked it. Hes been getting quite a lot of e-mails of people liking that one.

Josh Freeman is assuming the "QB offseason weight watchers" role previously filled by Byron Leftwich.

Leave my man alone, you.

To respond to your obvious trolling, it's not like Freeman was fat; he's a really, really big guy, and he's always looked solid and hasn't had that "oh, God, Jared Lorenzen just ate his offensive line" look to him. No amount of mobility was going to help last year with the way the o-line slept through the season and how the backs couldn't do a damn thing in the passing game once Earnest Graham went down. Again, I consider "losing Earnest Graham" to be a critical point of the season, and that says it all.

Real #1 WR? Check. Better o-line? Check. RB who can pass-block? Check. Looking forward to the offense this year.

I didn't think Freeman looked fat at all against the Texans. And as I said at the time, he seemed like he had real potential at quarterback.

I said the same thing about Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Bills, and it seems like some pundits don't like him.

Remember that South Park when Cartman went to juvenile hall and so the kids had to figure out who the next fattest kid was for the new "fat ass" of the group?

Leftwich and Lorenzen are gone. Freeman's the new Cartman.

I love this post so much I want to take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant.

OK, see, now, if you smell burning, it's just me setting you on fire with my mind. Amusingly enough, when I googled "fat quarterbacks", the first hit is Jared Lorenzen's Wikipedia page.

Be nice to Josh. He had to live with Raheem Morris as coach, and I suspect a fair number of those INTs last year were because his hand was bruised from Morris' endless high-fives. Really more of an enthusiastic youth group leader than NFL coach.

Whatever you do, don't look at the google images on the search results page. I'm giving you fair warning.

I cannot believe I get to type these words.

It looks like the Vikings are staying.

Bill approved by both houses of the legislature. All it needs now is an inevitable signature from the governor, and the Minneapolis city council approval, which is expected. There's been loads of last-minute wrangling, and the bill passed says the Vikings have to put up another $50 million, and they agreed. Football fans in this town need to build a giant shrine to Zygi Wilf, because most owners would have flipped Minnesota off and left for Los Angeles the moment they could.

The number of people that I know that constantly Female Doggo about taxes and also support that stadium is astonishing. Those people shouldn't be allowed to vote ever again.

Maybe we can avoid politics in this thread?

Congrats to all Vikings fans. Take it from Houston; losing your team sucks. It still sucks, whenever the teams wear throwback jerseys and those SOBs wear the baby blue.

I love Bocephus as much as anyone, but I think that might be the opposite of what he was on about.

Da'Quan Bowers tears his Achilles.

Too bad. Most of his rookie season was ineffective due to recovery from his microfracture surgery, but by the end of the season, he was flashing a bit of pass rush ability.

Michael Bennett is really good against the run, but the team clearly wanted Bowers to challenge for the job, with the happy fall-back plan being rotating Bowers into Bennett's spot in pass rush situations.

Alright time for the news you've all been waiting for: VINCE YOUNG has signed with the Bills.

Yep, this sucks; Bowers looked pretty good at the end of the year. Hey, I'll be an optimist and say this gives his microfracture even more time to heal, right? Right?

Cleveland's Phil Taylor also out; he tore a pectoral. Yesterday was a bad day to be a second-year defensive lineman, apparently.

I love that Houston needed a backup QB and so they went and signed... John Beck.

VY is like Houston's Tim Tebow. Like the Jags and Tebow, it never gets old how many times Houston passes on acquiring Young.

It's a good day to be Ray Rice.

That's because people here talk about his non-quarterbacking @$$ all the time. All of the idiotic Longhorn fans who see him, as you said, as being a Tim Tebow "it" guy who magically wins games without looking anything like an NFL quarterback (forget that he hasn't worked out for other teams).

If they ever brought him here, we would have the stupidest, most self-defeating QB controversy since...well, okay, Tebow was just last year, and is about to have his second coming in New York.

There is a subplot to the Bills' offseason that most of the country is missing, because Mario Williams was never loved in Houston because everyone thought we should have taken VY or Reggie Bush instead. Long-term, Williams turned out to be the right pick, and all but the most diehard VY fanboys know it - but the opportunity for us to love him had passed.

So it's kind of funny to have them playing on the same team now, and if Bush can get moved up there somehow, it'll be this whole trinity of people that have occupied Houston sports talk for the last six years.

Arise, dead time of the offseason!

Tampa has shipped Kellen Winslow to Seattle, apparently for a 7th rounder than can upgrade to a 6th. The guy spent last year throwing tantrums when he didn't get the ball enough, and he's had enough repeated knee problems to where he just can't get separation like he used to. He's still able to work open pretty regularly, but not nearly as regularly as he thinks he can. He sucked as a teammate last year, glad the guy is gone.
