TERA Static Group Thread: Next Session Tuesday, May 8th

Protip: Don't start Valley of the Titans. You will accidentally end up level 21 like I did on my archer last night.

Hm, after playing Bastion of Lok today, we might want to make a change for the first "real" grouping night (the 8th). It seems as though you have to finish Valley of the Titans do get the quests for Bastion of Lok. So what I would now suggest is:

- Finish Valley of Titans -- this will put you between 19 and 21, depending on how much rested XP you had and how many repeatable quests you've done.
- Have all the guild quests available at level 20ish -- this will include quests for two world bosses.
- Have the quests that lead you into northern Oblivion Woods -- this is the lead in for Bastion, starting with a group quest to kill some basilisks

That will give us basilisks, BoL, and two world bosses to kill, just about enough to fill up an evening of grouping.

(Also, as far as "perfect" group comp goes: the world bosses seem doable without the holy trinity of tank/healer/dps x 3, and the LFG tool can fill in whatever we need for the instance, so if we end up with odd numbers I think we'll be fine.)

Edit: Also, I'll be on my sorcerer for the 8th since I've now, uh, accidentally leveled my archer to 24. May switch back to the archer for the session after I get back from my vacation, but we'll see how the leveling works out.

Sounds like you're really enjoying the archer! May want to dedicate sorc to the Tuesday runs so you can unleash the archer and go nuts.

I'll work on getting my Lancer through oblivion woods and ready for the instance, shouldn't be too difficult as I believe I just hit valley of titans.

I'll be honest: I was surprised how much fun I was having running up my priest last night. Like, I knew I was going to have fun, but I had more fun than I thought?

Dunno.

Just really glad GW2 doesn't have a sub fee. I couldn't keep TERA + WoW + something else up on a monthly basis.

I think I might even make a dps character to bounce around with as well. Maybe a slayer? They look like a lot of fun. Specially Popori slayers!

Slayers are fun, and not too shabby solo anyways, but once you get to 20 and glyph overhand strike for a self heal, its a little insane

See you folks tonight. Don't forget the mumbles!

Updated the OP. 8pm Central next time, right?

Plus: Holy crap popori slayer is fun. I spend the whole time going "hee hee hee!".

I pulled Torrent out of Hookers and Blackjack - it's getting awful lonely in there. :p

Blade will stay in the guild for static group.

Yeah, I did the same with Kirwin. It was either just me or me and Torrent at the end of last week

Yeah, Im always on my alts in other guilds as well. I just keep my Lancer in with the hookers

My mystic just hit 51 and though there is a bit of enemy recycling, like any MMO has, each new zone keeps impressing me.

I was wondering where everyone was. I rarely saw anyone in the guild. What guild did everyone go to, or did everyone just scatter to random guilds?

I had some friends from other games in the goon guild "something terable" so thats where my mystic is. Thats really all im playing besides occasional time with my wife (warrior / sorc combo) and my lancer with the GWJ crew on Tuesdays.

Speaking of which, god have mercy on your souls, I haven't really had to tank anything yet so the instance tomorrow should be..... fun?

I pulled Dethroned for the same reason. 2-3 people on at a time was kinda lonely. I joined up with Aegis (http://aegistera.enjin.com/) and am loving it. Active vent and around 30 people on per night. 100 or so people in the guild so not a bad ratio. If you guys ever need what I would consider the best archer on the server, just let me know (hehe)

Oh, only 28 atm so got a ways to go still.

I'm sorry to do this to you guys on short notice but I have to bail tonight. I caught some kind of lovecraftian horror virus this past weekend while visiting Goodjers in Ohio. It's really beaten the sh*t out of me, and about the best I can do right now is log into WoW to fish.

I'm thinking trying to heal you boys with me hacking and coughing up my guts won't go well. Shyn is your Mystic still in the right neighborhood to help these guys? Or somebody else's alt?

Well, it's a good thing I trained up a dedicated healer alt. I can use that instead of my warrior tonight.

Thank you, zam. Really appreciate it.

Sorry again guys.

I have a mystic, a slayer, a lancer and a sorc parked at Vanguard with all the pre-reqs done and in the level range; figured I'd try to cover a variety of bases depending on who was available; now if only I'd made a dedicated healer - see, now my OCD is going to force me into making a priest!!

We should be good to play it by ear tonight and see what area we're lacking and adjust I think.

A mystic is as much a dedicated healer as a priest is. Both are capable of healing any instance/hard mode in the game. Styles are quite different. Mystics have to be more proactive since they only have 1 direct heal and it only hits 3 targets. So laying their heal and mana orbs should be done on every cooldown where a direct heal (or CC) is not being performed. They also get some nice aura's like doubling the groups critical hit chance and increasing the groups mana regen. Priests are better reactive healers with several direct heals, including one that hits the entire party in range, and a sweet AOE dispel too. I think at the end of the day, Mystic groups probably kill things quicker (2x crit rate & mana regen = more dps) but priest groups probably have more survivability.

That being said, Im completely smitten with healing so far. My mystic is 51 and I am pretty sure my next solo class will be a priest (I have a warrior in a duo with my wife, a zerker in a duo with a sorc friend, and my lancer with GWJ group). Just having my positioning matter and having to focus on where players are to aim at them to heal them just keeps me involved in the action, instead of just trying to find a safe place to hide and heal raid frames/boxes.

Yeah, on paper I was expecting the mystic should be ok tonight, just haven't had much chance to try him doing much healing in anger

Hope you're feeling better hack. Any idea on how you want the group to proceed?

Do you want to keep everyone in same level range and do some questing or do you want us to try and level up to the next instance?
If I need to do some leveling, just let me know before the weekend if possible.

Thanks for those that logged on last Tuesday, had a good time. Also realized I have a lot to learn about the lancer. In looking at upcoming skills, I get two big class defining skills at 26 that I hopefully help out!

Running an instance when the world around you crumbles to dust, twice, forcing a do over, will always be challenging :p

Was fun, looking forward to next week, whatever we're taking on!

Sorry again guys. I'm still out of work today. Just feeling awful. Should be heading in tomorrow but I'm guessing I'll still be wheezing and dying.

Bad bad virus.

What all did you get to? Sinestral Manor's the next up at 26, but I dunno how much of BoL you guys got through ...

We got through everything in Bastion except the last boss.

What sucks though is because of the server restarts somehow my quest progress on some of them reset so I can't turn them in even though I completed them.

Regarding how to proceed, I think we should level together on Tuesday nights. That way, if someone misses a game night they'd only need to make up 2 hours of playing to catch up to the next game night. Also, we can stretch out content this way.

Sounds good. Did a couple of Bastion runs last night on the sorc, one with a role playing mad lancer tanking (who was leveling his third lancer to 40, each different races, so he could choose which race he preferred *boggle*), he'd run around each room aggroing everything, then come back to the room's entrance, plant himself behind the shield and cycle AE taunts while the rest of us burned things down, was crazy fast if a little 'heated' for the mystic that was healing us. I quizzed him about it, and as far as he was concerned, if you didn't clear all the trash after the rock boss, everything added in on the final boss, which could explain what we encountered.

EDIT: Almost forgot, we did get some bits and pieces on our run through, for instance 'he-who-would-be-goblin-king' has some new trousers that complete his 60s emo throwback look ....

In the interests of selfishness I'll ask, then: Would you folks mind if we did Lok again next week?

If that's the boringest idea ever for folks, not a problem at all. I'll hunker down and get to 26 for next week.

I haven't finished LoK yet, so I am game to try it again. God knows I could use the practive.
The only downside I see is a lot of folks are at the high range for it, meaning XP and Loot may be crap. But we can bang through it once pretty quick and move on to other things.

Found this in regards to loot in groups on the tera website
"Differences in character levels are especially relevant in dungeons, or when fighting BAMS. If a character is more than 4 levels higher than the dungeon or monster, the chances of decent loot drops goes down dramatically."

I think most people that were on last Tuesday ended the night between 24 and 26. So the dungeon xp and loot may be bad, but with levels that high, I imagine the completion time of the dungeon would be short.

Also, a nice blue priest weapon dropped last week that I have in my bag waiting for you. Its BOE.

Sure, I'm game - if need be we can always feed ourselves to the basilisks over and over again outside the entrance to de-level to 21 and then get a cleric with a 100% rez sort things after ... oh wait ... sorry, was being hit by a flurry of deja-Ragefire

Woot! Thanks, man.

...

I honestly don't know why I thought I'd be able to do social things. Hit me with a noodle.

As of this evening it looks like I'm going to be spending all my waking hours at work, at least through next Wednesday night. So I won't be able to participate in TERA fun. I'm honestly not even sure I can attend raid in WoW on Thursday. Which would suck.

If you want to keep the BoL goal for this week again, or try something different because I'm not there, no worries either way. And don't worry about levels, I'll get caught up.

Many, many apologies for this.

We can four man BoL if folks still want to complete it out; just finished a run through with my lancer, a sorc, a slayer and an archer. Was a softly, softly catchy monkey run with the group leader, a mystic, being afk at the instance zone-in for the whole thing, but those lancers can take one hell of a beating. I thought we got lucky with the rock BAM, but to see the pair at the end go down with just everyone's self heals + potions was wonderful

And worry not Zonk, we'll still be around once next weeks hells out the way

Hey guys, since Zenke is sick/busy, and this Tuesday is D3... how about we just skip a game night?

I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to playing D3. :p
