You can beat the game using only a frying pan.

You can pick pocket people.

You can buy other people beer and spit in their drinks (I think)

I think there are only 15 spells (not sure). (if anything, there are 17 spells... The spells that are not in the compendium are: Flamecharge/Battlecharge, Fireball, Paralyze, Push, Summon creature (might be Turncoat), Summon weapon)

Never heard any thing about crossbows... (Yes, they exist. They show the hero using one on the bonus DVD. He shot two arrows/bolts, then had to reload.)

Some spells can be upgraded up to 7(!)x while others can only be upgraded 4x I believe. (It's 4-7, so some are in between those.)

You can save any time you like, except while your in the middle of a mission. (But it does autosave after you finish the mission.)

There is a boasting system for quests to make the game harder.

Don't know about destructible enviroments.. I have not seen this in any videos/screen shots yet. (Not environments, objects. Like barrels, crates, doors, windows, among others.)

When your using a bow you can go into a first person type of view (not exactly) to snipe people off. (You can first zoom into an over-the-shoulder view, where a targeting reticle will show up. Then you can go into a zoom-in sniper view, but the reticle will reverberate more and it'll be harder to aim.)

There are mushrooms in the game!

You can lure most NPCs...

There are secrets hidden in the world of Albion (the awesome Sand Goose).

Don't know about many different styles of towns... They all look pretty similar. There are 5 major towns and a few smaller bandit camps and stuff.. (The Gamespot preview before their newest one said they were different. Knothole Glade is apparantly more camp/village/tribe like than other cities, and of course there are other examples.)

NPC's will have different likes/dislikes...

If your a good/bad character and get married your wife will leave you if you change. (She can also cheat on YOU with another man, and if you find out, rumors can spread about her. At least that's how it used to be, don't know about now.)

If your wife finds out that your cheating she will leave you and you can go into the pub and actually hear her talking about you.

Clothing effects how people feel about you.

If you get lots of tattoo's people will be more afraid of you.

You can actually be ridicules! It's actually a setting!!

The type of clothing you wear on some missions will make it easier/harder for you.

You can kill anyone in the game except children.

There is a town in Albion where you're not allowed to use weapons (children are only in this town). (There are lots of towns with children. The city that forces you to leave your weapons outside of it is some sort of imperial palace type... thing....)

You can hire mercenaries to assist you.

There are good/evil chapels.

If you are caught doing a crime then you can either pay a fine, attempt to kill the guards, or get kicked out of town.

The economy system in Albion is based on supply and demand. You do not make up your own prices. (You can when you own a store.)

When purchasing items a number will be displayed beside the price of the item to let you know if that item is the cheapest it can possibly be.

There are spells to help melee and ranged players.

Don't know if you can cut limbs off... (You can't.)

You can play through the game being un armed (no weapons) . You can punch and kick and will be able to roll around to dodge attacks...

You can upgrade homes...

There are helmets in the game...

If your good you get butterflies around you (when still) and a halo over your head.

If your bad then you get flies around you (when still) and you grow horns over your head.

You only get horns and halos if your extremely evil/good.

Basic story: Your father is killed and your mother and sister and kidnapped. You are rescued and sent to the heroes guild, later something happens and you will have to save the world of Albion. It is promised that you will feel like a hero by the end of the game.

Children will mimic you if they like you and you have high renown.

You can beat people up with trophies.

You can fish and put your trophies in your home for display. (And beat people with them.)

Men will not come on to you unless you come on to them first.

We don't know how many enemies there are in Albion. Probably over a dozen though.

Don't know what weapon straps are? (Sheaths for swords, quivers for arrows, etc...)

You can easily change from magic/melee/ranged in real time any time you want to.

We don't know if you can learn tricks to impress people... I don't think there are any magic tricks or any thing like that. (They're expressions. They're not a category of their own.)

When your a kid you can get away with crime, but later you have to pay or you will be kicked out of town. I don't know if you can bribe them (I think all guards are good), but I don't know...

One day in Albion is approx (I don't know the exact number) 1 hour in real time. (It's 48 minutes exactly. 1 hour = 2 minutes.)

NPC's all run on the same AI's. NPC's will remember you if you do something bad to them. Given time most NPC's will forgive/forget you.

You can break into any building in Albion.

We don't know if they meant 8 square Km (at least I don't know)...

Fable is not free roam. Most of the time you will be on paths. It has been said many times that there are larger areas to explore and most paths will have more then only one entrance.

When you are fully zoomed in you will see more detailed effects (ripples in the water).

So what do you guys think? Is it going to live up to the potential or fall flat?

Well it definetly sounds impressive.

92.3% chance I will pick this up.

Everyone know 73.4% of all statistics are horsecrap made up on the spot.

This might be the game that finally sells me an XBox. It will be interesting to see how this RPG compares to some of the biggies coming out for the PS2 (That new Star Ocean is looking fantastic!). *sighs* So many good, complex, long games, so few understanding wives....

I''m tempted to buy it.

Already have my copy preordered! Thanks for the info, Drunkagain!

I''ve been watching this game for about a year and a half.. unfortunantly my X-box has taken a dive and no longer plays any games for more than 5 minutes without giving the ""not an Xbox disc"" error. So, until the price drops or I can save up $150 no Fable for me :*(

Most folks who have seen the latest builds of Project Ego which is now Fable have been impressed. I have this one on preorder as well - the concept of ""developing"" a character is at the root of most RPG''s and I think this one may nail the 10 on the dismount. However I wish I knew if it were coming to the PC - I would delay my order. I bought KOTOR for the Xbox and then it came out on the PC - I wish I had waited there as well.

Reading the latest previews in the various mags moved this one up to a must buy for me...

I''ve pre-ordered as well and after reading this:

You can beat people up with trophies.

You can fish and put your trophies in your home for display. (And beat people with them.)

I can''t wait to beat the innocent with my Bowling trophy.

I dug the one on IGN where the guy played evil to the max and was applauded for saving the town from a Giant Wasp or something then showed the people the trophy and beat some old men to death with it - that''s evil alright - that and soccer with a beheaded opponents previously attached noggin - just not nice.

Just hope this game does not take a ""lionheart"" on us - that too looked promising with neat effects and setting - but with a dreadful implementation.

-xino

I ......shhhhh.....<wispers> playtested this game. I will probabaly get it but I hope the slowdown is not a problem when they finally release it.

79% of all made up statistics end in the number 9.

Check with your local gamestore on trading it in, I know gamestop currently takes ""non working"" XBoxes for some credit. And I know the testing process probably takes less than 5 minutes anyway (at least when I worked there it was pretty much, controller feels good, game boots, good enough).

Go pick one up at Wal-Mart, pack up the old one in the new box and bring it back(unless they have some type of serialization on the box and game itself). Simple. A little unethical (probably illegal too) I`ll admit -but look at the big-wigs from Enron and Worldcom they didn`t give a sh*t about the little guy...It is also my belief that these things should come with some type of warranty for at least five years. Without any extended product warranty cost.

That''s a bit dodgy. I think I''d buckle from the fear or the guilt.

Incencidentally I believe that all women should pay me to have sex with them, but I don''t think that''ll be any defence for my kerb-crawling charge.

I''ve got a running bet this game is going to be a hit over at GameDaily.net

I think it''s going to be ... how do you guys put it?

teh bomb.

I will definately be getting this one, cause if I don''t, my wife will. She''s been looking forward to it more than I have been. I can already see I am going to be losing some serious Xbox time.

In this instance do you mean ""teh bomb"" as in it will be good or ""teh bomb"" in that it will be bad?

Definetly on my must-buy list. There''s nothing from Japan that''s catching my interest anymore and i''d love to play a good RPG. I can''t make any absolutes, but this certainly sounds like it''ll be good.
