NFL 2012 Draft Thread

Maybe not a bust, but it's like spending a 1st round pick on Mike Thomas. A little bigger and a little slower than Thomas, but that kind of slot guy.

Went out to grab something to eat. The Chiefs pick makes me want to throw up now.

I really, really wanted them to grab David DeCastro. I'd rather take a safe OL that solidifies the run game, and then gamble on a DL later in the draft. Really, really bummed by their pick.

But I would rather spend a 1st rounder on Kendall Wright than Brandon Weeden.

Damn Cleveland ... wtf. Weeden.

I think every throw in the Weeden highlight reel was either a drag over the middle, or a deep throw against blown coverage to a wide open receiver.

That couldn't have played out better for the Browns and they passed on good DeCastro and Reiff and chose Weeden. I can't believe it. I thought maybe at 37.

I've heard he can't handle pressure, which is a problem considering the right side of the line isn't there and hasn't been since about 2007.

Exactly. Now Detroit gets a free gift of Reiff.

You estimate what you think is realistic, I'll hope for him to suck.

I'm not surprised for Reiff's slide, I've heard some O-line coaches don't think he can hang at tackle and will end up moving inside.

DeCastro has to be coming up soon, but while sound, he was rarely dominant. Lots of guards you can take later that can develop and be monsters.

ESPN is saying this is the deepest into the first round a Big 10 player has been selected since 1968.

Schefter is saying New England will take Dont'a Hightower.

Yeah, I like Weeden, especially in a west coast because those quick throws are a big part of it, but when you need everything...yeah that was dumb.

and the first round? yeah.....maybe Holmgren was feeling the need to remind everyone how smart he is...cuz he must know something we don't know.

Reiff to the Lions was a good move.. Even if he does slide inside, he will start for them now. If he can hang outside, it's huge.

That is assuming they want Stafford to survive.

Voila, Pats have significantly helped their defense tonight. 4th Bama player in the 1st 25 too

Patriots trade to get Dont'a Hightower.

Hightower and Chandler Jones. Patriots retool their front 7 in a big way.

F-ing Patriots taking a Raven player. Dammit.

Texans up next!

Stephen Hill ftw?

I think Reiff can play tackle, just right tackle. But I was surprised to hear the opinion of an O-line coach that Reiff was destined to move inside.

Too, too early. I'm hoping all that Stephen Hill 1st round talk was just media imagination run wild.

Hill is very interesting and a great project, but 1st round is too early IMO.

You were right. they went DE.

Schefter says Cincy goes OL at #27. "Book it".

Love that pick. Didn't want Fleener or Hill, despite the talking heads on NFL Network.

Mercilus! What a name.

Mercilus? Not someone I would take before round 2. Seems like trying to fill Mario Williams' spot rather than taking best available talent. Merciless did nothing before his last year in school.

God, there's rumors of the Ravens being interested in him.

Edit: I wouldn't be upset with Upshaw for the Ravens.

Nothing beats D'Brickashaw!

You know, looking at the player ratings, I'm amazed DeCastro lasted to #24. Steelers got a, um, steal.

These guys grabbed JJ Watt last year in the 1st, and Brooks Reed in the 3rd. I trust their defense evaluation.

Doesn't Hill have character issues? The Texans aren't down with that.

I hope the Bengals take Janoris Jenkins in this draft. Who else will?

Oooh, I wonder if GB takes Courtney Upshaw. That would be cool.

No it wouldn't.
