Diablo III Catch-All

I think Fan of Knives can be used with any weapon. Its also melee range ability but I'm not sure if the demon hunter gets any other skills like that (other than chakram which you mentioned).

Fan of Knives is a melee ranged ability that causes your character to pause and appreciate the craftsmanship and design of their weapon.

God the wait is bad.

I just started installing Hellgate F2P version, because for some reason I couldn't click with Torchlight.

Saying you can't click with Torchlight but you can with Hellgate is like saying, "why have hamburger when you can have liver?"

I dont know. Torchlight is obbbviously a superior game. But when I booted it up, Torchlight just felt like, Diablo Lite. The playful aesthetic didn't jibe with me, the class skills were boring, and when I hopped back onto my Level 15, I was immediately bored.

And right now I just need a fix of a good loot grinder. That was one thing Hellgate did decently at.

Why not Borderlands?

Yes, why NOT Borderlands? Or Amalur?

Oh Pikey, I don't care what everyone else is saying, I don't think you're less of a person for not liking Torchlight.

And yeah, give Borderlands a shot =)

heyyyy hellgate was still good fun..

Anyway I kind of get the feeling Blizzard designed the first half as a tutorial-- comparisons to other games would be inaccurate until we experience one playthrough.

Liver isn't that bad.

Hey!
You haven't had good liver if you haven't extracted it from a freshly slaughtered, still steaming pig carcass on a chilly winter morning and fried it with some garlic and onions.

That said, I still resent Hellgate.

My point exactly.

Scratched wrote:

No, its the ...wurst.

Reckoning. Just don't craft anything.

Granted, Hellgate F2P has one thing going for it...

I have a lifetime subscription to liver. I would prefer a lifetime subscription to hamburger (or freshly slaughtered, still steaming bacon).

Not to derail the thread with Torchlight discussion but...

I've been playing through it again after originally stalling out on it. I've played both the melee guy and, now, the ranged character. I think you hit the nail on the head about the class skills. They're just boring.

I agree. It scratched an itch, given that D3 was really far off from completing. After playing D2 shortly after it, it was pretty obvious how much more refined D2 was even though it was a decade older.

Isn't that what TL1 was billed as? A diablo-like dungeon crawler. See also: Fate with Travis Baldtree involvement. The skills were a bit weak-sauce, but that's an aspect supposedly done better in TL2.

No need to fight over TL and Hellgate. Both were kinda bad.

Spoiler:

Hellgate > TL

I have started playing Diablo 1 and 2 again instead.

Can it be bacon if it's freshly slaughtered and still steaming? Or is it just pork at that point?

I haven't really played TL yet, but I remember this looking really cool:

A shame the mod was never finished :\

What you saw in that video was a lot of work. It doesn't surprise me that it wasn't finished.

Did anyone ever release any tutorials for modding Torchlight?

It's just side pork, or sliced pork belly. And it's a pain in the ass to find something to do with it. When we bought a whole pig, the butcher correctly didn't cure the pork belly, but did slice it. So braising is right out.

Anyone else playing on an "older" PC (2.66GHz, nVidia 88000GTS, 3G RAM) had the death-inducing lag-spikes (in solo-play) during the open beta? I'm trying to figure out if it was "Server Load vs PC Weakness".

I would like to take this time to point out that I'm in the credits to Hellgate: London.

I've encountered this before the weekend beta and it's possibly due to the bittorrent client that runs in the background that blizzard uses

I'm on a 2.66GHz nvidia 8800GT 2gb ram and running it at everything on high with no lag issues.

edit: bleh, bad sentence.

That might not have been the best thing to point out.

Naw it's pretty cool. Not like he was a designer. Even if he was it's still cool to create entertainment for other folks.

I forgot to include the I was just messing with him.

Y'know Pikey, if you like loot games I heard of one that's pretty easy to get these days. Made by one of the greatest minds of game design, who brought us the excellent Eternal Darkness.

Man I had the same issue with Borderlands, that I had with Torchlight, nowhere near as much though. It just didn't click.

ps. Sigh, not even Hellgate. It does have that sweet spot in the game I know is kinda there, but apparently it's way out of reach of the free players for the 'MMO' and I've no interested in wasting anymore money on that after buying the collector's edition.
pps. I MIGHT pick up Amalur... but ehhh I dont know. I think it's just an 'itch' i m going to have ot deal with until may 15.
