Guild Wars 2 and GWJ: Launch Date And Final Beta Weekend

I could probably lend a hand as well.

Me too.

That sounds like a plan. Probably should establish the basic leadership cadre, a name (I may have missed that), a comms path (I'd like to use the GWJ Vent server), and the ancillary items like Guild symbol, bank rules etc... Also - probably a good idea to establish a good list of who are the experts and resources for game knowledge - who is the go to question guys. I never got into the original all that much as I was deployed, but I know Lobster and several others knew the game inside and out and followed the development of this one pretty tightly. Maybe a thread that consolidates all the good input from this thread and others to get folks up to speed for release.

Just a few random ramblings.

I 2nd using vent for communication.

When the beta is live I will try and get screen shots of all the symbols for the guild emblem to help choose.

Also I know know if you want to add the class survey I did to the main post so more people see it. I'll link it again here:

Can you update the survey with these builds for me:

For folks that haven't played before: KTR's 10 Helpful Hints for the Open Beta.

Since apparently it's no longer verboten to talk about having been in the thing, I've been playing since January. I'll try to be as helpful as I can the weekend after thiscoming. I've got some friends coming in from out of town Saturday so I'll probably be out a lot that day, but I'll try to be on a bunch Friday and Sunday.

I am taking half a day that Friday from work so I will be on for most of the afternoon and night. Saturday is when I run my Pathfinder game so I will miss most of the day. I will be on Saturday evening and all day Sunday. I was not in any of the previous betas but have tried to keep myself as informed as possible.

Thanks!

Looks like ranger is the most popular main class so far on the survey. Everyone wants a pet pokemon

Some additional information on the upcoming beta this weekend.

I am going to play one of my planned alts over this beta weekend just to save my mains (Human Mesmer) story and starting area for launch. I'll probably roll my main just to bring him directly to the Mists just to play around with some skills.

Yep good call. Same here..My plan for main is a Sylvari Ranger so since we can't use that race in the upcoming beta, I'll work on other classes to see how they are.

I can't wait to try this game out this weekend. I tried out Tera last weekend but it didn't grab me; I hope this will. Just joined GWJ today after first hearing about it at the PAX panel. Hope to play GW2 with some of you once it launches. Leaning toward Engineer at the moment.

Cool, WvW will be available. That's probably what I'm most interested in, especially if we can arrange some teaming up among GWJ folks.

Also glad to see that Charr will be an available race, as that's what I plan to play as when GW2 releases.

I think I'll mostly be doing WvW and structured PvP during the beta. I'm gunna leave PvE for release so I get to see all that content fresh.

Maybe I'll even be able to narrow down what classes I wanna play cause I still got no clue

Plans? GW2 Weekend. Really, really, really hope my connection's up to the task of staying stable for many hours on end. Look forward to meeting new people in game, and hell, GW2 itself, finally.

*swoon*

Wondering, is the general plan to pick a server that's less populated by super hardcore types, or more hardcore types? (In reference to WvW, where you play for your server)

Less hardcore = more casual, more hardcore = piggyback off hardcore guilds doing organized sieges, but will likely vs other hardcore servers

Uggh - just my luck. My wife's family is calling an "all hands on deck" weekend to move stuff out of their parent's home. Not only will I miss a good chunk of the beta, but I will also be enduring heavy labor. I'm really thinking of ways to get out of this, but will probably win douche of the year if I do.

Incoming: https://account.guildwars2.com/download

Or if you want to skip the wait, but run the small risk the client isn't exactly the one you need for the beta and doesn't download the right data: http://cloudfront.guildwars2.com/pVR...

I'll wait until I get the official DL notice, not in any hurry to install it from elsewhere. I'll be mostly focusing on nailing down which profession (not a mesmer) to play at launch. So I guess I'll be doing a mixture of everything to get a feel for each profession.
I assume that there will be a channel in the official vent sever for the BWE?

What source is everyone messing around with to research character class builds etc...?

as always will be doing as much WvW, pvp as possible.

Just remember your weapon skills will unlock much faster in PvE than in WvW so spend some time just to get your skills unlocked on your primary weapon sets before you jump into WvW.

I'll be on this weekend as well. Going to start with a damage ele, since that was my first GW build

If you know exactly which weapon you want to use, this is seriously a matter of 20-30 minutes of play to get every single weapon skill unlocked in PvE. It's very, very fast.

Its very hard to resist but I am very concerned about account phishing on that link.

How so? It's a subdomain of guildwars2.com, which is owned by ArenaNet. That's where you manage your account from after making it at https://register.guildwars2.com

Anyhow, the client isn't currently available from that link, but that seems to be where it will be from.

So I am rethinking my engineer to use the elixir gun with turrets as my primary source of dps. There are a ton of debuffs there and with a few key traits those debuffs gain the ability to damage or heal. There is a trait that makes your thrown elixirs explode that will be really useful in making sure you still have some dps despite focusing on support. You can combine this with a trait that gives explosions a chance to either burn or bleed (or both!). Another useful combination of traits I am looking at are the "drops bomb on dodge" mixed with the "bombs heal allies".

Incoming v2. An announcement was up on their forums, before they pulled it. It seems they're almost ready, but jumped the gun a bit. It seems they're eager for people to get into it as well.
