Forza 4: Catch-All

So this was a nice surprise:

You’re receiving this email because you registered for the Xbox LIVE and Hyundai Veloster "Forza Motorsport 4" Time Trial Contest but due to a delay in the operation and transmission of your registration, you were inadvertently excluded from the Time Trials portion of the contest. We sincerely apologize for this error in the administration of the contest, and we have taken steps to fix the problem so that it won’t happen again.

We hope you’ll give us another chance and participate in another Xbox LIVE contest. As a token of our thanks for your understanding, we would like to offer you $20 in Microsoft Points.

I was wondering why I couldn't access those challenges, but now the Porsche pack is paid for, so that's nice.

Man, all these community things about FM4 I'm just now discovering too late!—or almost too late. For instance, for all Ferrari achievement hunters:

Tonight I just found out about community bounty hunter Rivals challenges. This week's challenge is to beat someone's drag time, and if you do you'll get a Ferrari 599XX for your troubles: http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/fo...

I used a 1969 Chevy Camaro to set my time of 16.600, and I shared it to the GWJ club garage (it's S class and an ugly green) if anyone needs a car to try with.

That is an excellent build. I tried my hand at building a car for that challenge, both off of the same 69 Z28 you used, and the 69 Camero SS unicorn that just arrived in my inbox, but neither one could touch your build.

For anyone trying to improve on your times on this or any other drag race, manual with clutch makes all the difference in the world. I play with a controller, so I usually just use automatic transmission for simplicity, but manual with clutch allows almost instant shifts, and makes a huge difference in drag races.

Aw shucks. I don't know thing one about drag racing, so I just swapped the engine, put on wide (seemed like a good idea) drag tires, and then installed every upgrade that increased power (without decreasing the weight) and improved shift times. The rims are to balance a few more weight-reducing power upgrades (but, surprisingly, not too much more power), and then it was just fiddling with the right combination of driveline and clutch upgrades.

It's definitely not tuned at all. I know even less about tuning. People in that FM4 forum thread are uploading tunings that are getting them times in the 15s. I'm satisfied just beating the bounty.

I do drive manual (with controller), but no clutch.

Well, ElectricPi, ID Timberwolf has set a new time, faster than mine—but not yours. So getting the 599XX is on you now.

ElectricPi, I sent you a PM about the Ferrari/Exclusive Taste achievements.

Started playing IL-2 this week, so with a classic Aston Martin kicking around from one of the achievements, I decided to throw together something proper for it:

IMAGE(https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-kgU1yL3Bk3k/T3uMTEItUDI/AAAAAAAAAPw/28oGE-ZqWIc/s800/Stanfire%25202.jpg)

I uploaded it to the club and the design is on my storefront too. That car is actually a lot of fun to drive, so it's not just a looker either! Now if only I could swap a Merlin engine into it.

I also updated the GWJ car a while ago, with Audible and GameThingDaily logos:

I love that Aston. Simple, but very effective.

Made a Minnesota plate... Check out my storefront!

I realized today that i've barely even played this game, and that's in no small part because we really haven't had a bunch of GWJ get-togethers to play it. I mean, it's one thing to race against someone's ghost, it's another to be swapping paint with 3-4 other people (and watching Thin J disappear into the distance).

Would anyone like to try and plan a GWJ Forza night? I feel like we really haven't had a good one with this, while we had a bunch with Forza 3.

This is an excellent plan. Count me in

I'm in

You guys figure out when and if I can I'll try and make it. No promises though. Gaming time has been short lately.

One of the things that turned me off to sim racing online is how uppity the community can be over sloppy driving.

Nudge or graze someone in the slightest and you're a evil pariah, or worse...a stupid American...who will likely get kicked from the game.

I know the difference between dirty driving and honest mistakes. I bet this is the one place that does too.

Ha! If I accidentally bumped anyone in Dirt 3, Americans would send me messages after the race accusing me of being all sorts of things—and non-Americans would accuse me of being American! I didn't know that was a thing in online racing.

Anyway, I don't think my skills, honed after 100+ hours against the AI, are conducive to multiplayer: race clean until I get impatient, bully until I'm first, go for the goddamn jugular if I'm second and there are only a couple corners left.

So this latest bump has inspired me to dive back into F4 after having taken a few months off.

I love the pick up and playability of these games as after only 20 minutes or so the feel for the game came back and now it fits like a glove once again.

I've been thinking about going for the Ferrari Collector Achievement where you have to own all the Ferrari's that shipped with the game. Thing is, I've only got about 4 of the 20 or so needed to get the chevo.

Can someone help me out here?

Do I need to own all the Ferrari's consecutively or can I try and buy/sell my way through having owned them all at one point or another? I've got about 5 million banked in credits and that looks good on paper until I realized that some of the cars cost 8 to 10 million a pop.

If I were gifted a Ferrari and then turned around and gifted it back to the donor, would that count toward the achievement?

Anyone feel like helping a brother out in this regard? Here's what I need:

1957 Ferrari 250 California - 3 million
1957 250 TR - 8million

1964 250GTO - 10million

1984 GTO - 320,000
1987 F40 - 380,000

1991 512 TR - 75,000
1995 F50 - 400,000
1998 #12 Risi F333 - 2.2mill
1999 360 modena - 90,000

2002 Enzo - 1.3million
2004 F430 - 150,000
2006 599 GTB Fiorano - 310,000
2009 California - 220,000

2010 #89 F430GT - 1million
2010 #83 F430GT - 1million
2010 599xx - 1.5million
2011 FF - 280,000
2011 599GTO - 370,000

If I'm missing some basic strategy for this please feel free to enlighten me.

Thanks doods!

Yes please! I'm a big fan of the rivals challenges, but they do not replace head to head racing.

P.S. I've been spending some time painting if anyone on here would like access to any of my designs unlocked, it can be arranged. The Maine Forrest Rally logo above the 70 on the hummer, and the Rally America logo below the 70 are not mine. Everything else is my original work:

Damn, and I just trashed the Google doc spreadsheet from the first Ferrari pass-around! I have some of the cars you're missing, but I won't be around my Xbox until later in the week. I also don't know if you need to own them all at once, or just need to have owned them at one point.

As for gifting them and sending them back, that's how to do it. As soon as you receive the last one you need, you'll get the achievement.

Shag26 is the guy to get ahold of, he owns most of the Ferraris and was a huge help for getting that cheev.

Is that the new Mini Clubman? Looking good!

No, It's the countryman. You know, the SUV with available AWD.

Since no one else seems to want to propose a time, what do people think about a Tuesday evening, maybe starting at 7 or 8pm eastern time? I'm just throwing that out there to jump start the discussion (and because it would be convenient for me) would another day be better? another time?

Anything before 9 EST for Gamers with Jobs on the Pacific side is painful, but Tuesdays work great for me!

I will join you so at least we'll have two. I shall put it in my phone so I don't forget

I'm definitely down for swapping some paint tonight.

I could be in, but not until 9 or 10 EST (being on the west coast as I am). If I'm able to join, I'll warn you beforehand that I've got bad habits calcified in so much single-player, so... DEAL W/IT.

I don't expect many to survive the first turn, if I remember previous nights correctly

If anyone is on early, say hi (gamer tag Electric Pi). I'm just playing around with stuff now.

Thanks for setting up and I apologize for no voice...long story.

Friday people, i'm around on FRIDAY.

What is that in UTC?

Great fun last night! I had totally forgotten by the evening that we had a Forza night planned, but fortunately Lupus shot me an invite which served to remind me. Always fun racing with the GWJ crew!
