League of Legends Game Nights/Season 2 League

Incidently, Kay is the sh*t, I met her at PAX, and I live in terror. She kicked the CRAP out of riot employees on the mainscreen.

Draft? Aw bummer.

Another Michigander! Any thoughts of coming out to MinPenCon or Pencon this year?

You just want someone else to carpool with because Hox is a flake =)

But Kay? Welcome to the community. We do extremely silly things like this sometimes.

What time is the first game tonight?

I've got 4 maybes and zero commits at this point. Plus Life Coach and DJI, who are maybes.

BUT ANYWAY, league of legendz.

That's merely a guideline. It really starts when people start showing up.

8pm est technically. Play a few games and you should have enough IP for a few cheap champions to do draft. And don't forget to get the two free champions with Facebook and YouTube.

did the math:

you need 16 champions to play draft (6 bans total and 10 players, that's why). There are 10 free champs every week. There are 2 free champs you can get via Facebook/Youtube (google "Alistar Youtube and "Tristana Facebook").

Assuming none of the free champs are 450 IP or Ali/Trist, you only need to own 4 450 IP champs. This means it only costs 1800 IP to play draft on the low end.

Assuming Ali and Trist and 2 450 IP champs are all on the free rotation list (rare if ever), you would need 8 450 IP champs to play draft. This would cost 3600 IP.

Assuming you don't own a single champion, it would only cost you between 1800 and 3600 IP to afford enough champs to play draft. For every non-450 IP champ you do own (other than Ali/Trist), subtract 450 IP from that amount.

If that's too much to digest, you can simply say "buy all the 450 IP champs". There are 9 of them total, so you would be safe even in the most unlikely scenario (where you'd need 8 450 champs to play draft)

Basically, not having enough champions is a weaksauce excuse for avoiding draft mode, especially now that we have more and more people jumping in to the game nights.

It's too fun to miss!

Draft mode is much more fun. BAN TEEMO

Yeah, get all the 450 IP champs and get stuck playing Master Yi Support! It'll be a blast!

You can only trade with someone if you have their champ right?

Correct. Both people must have both champs.

Ironically when I first started playing I went and bought all the cheap IP champions instead of runes and such. At the moment I am working on all the 3k ones. I think most if not all champions have a use, though I must admit I bought a pack too which is why I have Evelynn whom I have never played. All the others I at least give a try here and there. Maybe if I play enough games I will be able to have every champion Riot has and enough stored up IP to get the new ones on release. Though I have doubts I will ever get to that point. For now I take the pokemon approach, gotta collect them all.

Gotta break out Evelynn some night.

I kinda like when people pick what they want, honestly. Helps me learn.

What do you mean, rabbit?

I don't think I've gotten to play Nautilus once since we started playing draft. Please stop banning my Big Daddy!

I don't know exactly what Rabbit means, but I like seeing a range of champs that maybe I haven't played against, or played with. I haven't been 30 very long, and I generally see the free weekly champs in much higher percentage than champs people have purchased.

I also liked being forced to random last time I played, because I was one of the level 30's playing against Goodjers who were lower level. I ended up with Caitlyn, which was great because I love playing AD and I haven't played much Caitlyn. I definitely learned a lot because I was forced to play something new. I don't usually choose AD because lots of people play AD - in solo queue, non-draft games, I usually lock in last and make sure we have a good team comp. That means I play a bit of jungle and a lot of support, with occasional mid, top, or rarely AD bot. The good part about that is I'm semi-competent at all roles...well, it's a jack of all trades situation, to be honest. Master of none is pretty accurate

Gonna try to be on around 8 tonight. I have a couple days off, and I'd like to get in some LoL with Goodjers.

I prefer it too. I like being able to play what I feel like, and in turn don't mind other people playing what they feel like. But I know draft is uber popular, so I can stomach a game or two a night not playing who I'd really like to in exchange for getting to play with Rabbit N Company

woah, we are being lumped in with "Rabbit N Company"? I dont know how I feel about this ... I think if we are going to be labeled "Rabbit N Company" we should get some invitations to RabbitCon.

Also as a side note, this means rabbit needs to get on and play with us more. Erhm Mr Fancy New Computer...

Might we have enough people for two simultaneous games tonight? If not probably at least enough to make another 5 man queue for dominion or something.

Draft isn't 100% the staple or anything. It's just what we've been doing lately. There's still room for blind pick and, of course, random.

Man, a lot of the 450 champs are the free this week so my champ number dropped low

My point is only that when there's no draft, I get to see people (on my team, and on the other team) play champs they really love playing, and that often means, play really well. This is bad for me (because I suck) but it helps me learn THOSE champions strategies by observation.
