Payday: The Heist

Pages

PAYDAY: The Heist is a premier quality downloadable game designed to deliver a unique spin on the First Person Shooter genre. As an intense, gritty and unapologetic episodic co-operative shooter, PAYDAY is packed with cocky attitude, epic Hollywood-inspired action and endless replayability. With six action-packed heists to complete at launch, players embark on a spectacular crime tour of heists, including shooting their way through a downtown bank vault robbery, trading hostages in an armored car hijacking and even a moonlit infiltration of a high-security headquarters.

Additionally, PAYDAY: The Heist challenges players with dynamic environments and adaptive enemy tactics meaning no scenario will ever play out the same way twice. Players will have to work together, assigning team members to various tasks guarding key positions, keeping civilians in check and cracking through various security measures, while surviving wave after wave of law enforcement that shift their strategies based on player actions.

Am I the only one that bought this game?

Three of my friends and I got this and we played it last night. It's a real blast; since, it's basically Left 4 Dead robbing banks\drug dealers instead of running from zombies.

It is definitely worth the $20.

I'd definitely like to try it out if we could get a group of people together for it. I was just leery of buying it and getting stuck with no one to play with.

I bought it at launch but it crashes to desktop every time I fire it up. It's apparently a known problem that Overkill is working to fix, but in the meantime I dropped a Jackson on a game I can't even run.

I was interested in it but I'm being cheap right now in terms of game purchases and I wasn't sure if anybody else would be playing it.

Nope. I was going to post a catch-all because this game is so good (but you already did :)). Anyone interested in playing this on Steam, add me. I'm already up to 80 rep and have no intention of stopping. Currently in game voice chat isn't working but will be fixed with an upcoming patch. Also the devs are very active on the steam forums.

Patch 2 was just released. Maybe it'll work for you now.

Same feelings, plus, I was still deep in Dark Souls at the time. I'll wait for the Thanksgiving sale, and if there's interest (still), I'll get it.

I have it, we should schedule a game night sometime.

No dice, unfortunately.

I was really looking forward to this game, but I'm sorely disappointed by its gfx/sound quality. I know it's $20, and I should set my expectations accordingly, but it just looks and sounds... bad.

Add me on Steam if anyone wants to play. There aren't that many of us Goodjers playing this one, so I've just been mostly doing public games so far. It's been pretty fun regardless.

Odd I have heard zero feedback about this game. Not a good sign maybe, but open to feedback from anyone who purchased it.

I think for 20 bucks, it's a pretty darn good game. The mechanics feel like Left 4 Dead meets Sierra's SWAT series, but you're playing on the baddies' side, fighting hoards of police. There are heist objectives to perform while shooting up the police and controlling hostages. Ammo and health are scarce, you need to be somewhat accurate and frugal with your shots or you'll be running out of ammo all the time. You can pick up downed partners or if they are downed too long, they go into police custody, where you would need a hostage to trade for him back. As you play more and more, your reputation level goes up, and opens up new weapons, equipment and better stats, etc. So it's a bit of a crumby start since you just have entry level stuff (a carbine and a pistol) while everyone else has nice shiny shotguns, uzis and more importantly, supply bags of health/ammo. The levels get progressively hard, experience is definitely helpful on the last 2 levels. There are not a lot of Goodjers playing this, so I end up playing public all the time now. Surprisingly, 80-90% of the time, people are willing to come back for you and pick you up when you're downed, and that's pretty good for a pubby game.

What I think

You resumed what I felt when I played the game. It's a nice little game. When I saw the first objective, it dings in my head : "Left 4 Dead"...

Tried to play alone with AI, but seems they aren't as smart at the one implimented in Valve's games.

So if anyone wanna go 4 coop, invite me on steam! (Steam link in Sig).

3 of my co-workers and I played last night; we started on normal and got beat down 4 times in a row on the bank job. Does anyone else think this game is really, really darn hard? Easy was still a challenge for us, but we managed to beat the levels together.

Besides that, I enjoyed it a lot.

First couple times felt hard, it gets much easier as you start to know where everything is and can cover the entrances well.

A lot of times, I notice the entire group does better when split in couples, making 2 firing squads covering different entrances in an area as opposed to 4 guys turtling in one spot and getting surrounded. When you get to the harder levels, I notice people need to start covering corners or entrances on their own, or doing 2-1-1 coverages aggressively.

Only 1 person is needed to go down to the vault on the bank job, everyone else should stay and hold their ground in the vault lobby.

OK. I got Payday. Now is there an online tweak guide to fixing the graphic settings? And is mouse smoothing turned on?

A friend and I picked this up last night and stayed up til 4am playing it.

This game is definitely a sleeper hit. While there do appear to be some technical issues, they seem to be getting ironed out. For the record, I downloaded, installed and played with zero issues. My friend had a couple issues that a driver update cured.

What an amazing find for $20!

Free Week-end! (On Steam)

Don't know if I'll have time to play Tribes, SSX, Twisted Metal, and this during the weekend, but I'll try! Send me an invite if I'm online, I still have the game installed and would like to play all the maps available.

I've only played this for one or two games during the Summer to get the sale achievements. It's still installed so I'd love a chance to play with GWJ over the weekend, shoot me an invite if you need unskilled bodies!

This game is pretty good once you tweak the controls and get used to each scenario's tactics. Glad I gave it a spin.

I have been trying to get a friend into this game. He is way into L4D2, but wanted something for coop PVE wise, and different than Zombies for a little while. (Heck, got many games with Zombies in it.)

I'll invite you guys if I see you online when I play a match with him. We cleared the Bank Job on normal, then tried the second mission on Normal, we were overwhelm by police. Guess this game have different tactics depending on the map.

Patch 6 resolve that.

I'd be up for a heist or two sometime soon. Does tonight or tomorrow work for a group of at least four?

I've only played this once (for the Steam sale achievement) but it seemed to be pretty fun, I just never see others playing. If you need a noob to fill out a team sometime then by all means send me an invite

Fun night yesterday.. WDF tho told me my mic was closed. I was chatty, but you guys couldn't hear me out

The Panic Room was fun, and Greed Bridge was rough and fun.

We can play other Heist as well Diamond is fun, but can be rough as well (And still, that's in normal setting).

I'd like for this to be a biweekly game night. I'm usually free 9 or 10 EST on Friday.

I'm always up for Payday. Just send me an invite if you see me on Steam.
