I am sooo frustrated that most board game developers seem to believe Ios is the only place to make money.

That exact reason is why they've got me considering switching to an iPhone or buying an iPad.

What is this instagram, and why do I have the urge to install it on my Android and start following a whole bunch of people in that photo above?

It's a photo sharing ap that allows you to join the apple-centri and therefor hipster crowd in showing off said photos.

Heh, my Nexus cost more than an iPhone.

for reals, and that's without the markup for having an Apphole sticker on it.

Any good podcast apps folks would recommend? I've been using Pocket Cast but it is flaky: random stuttering on downloaded podcasts, lockups, and occasional crashing of my phone make it time to find something else.

edit: sorry, filthy skimmer here. Will try out BeyondPod.

Made a new topic for this. Didn't want to take away from the intent of this thread.

Why... WHY is the Android-native YouTube app so miserably awful?! Why do 1:00 videos take longer to load than 45:00 videos? Why do they buffer more often? What the CRAP is going on with this app that it sucks so HARD? I am infuriated by it every time I have to use it. It's just... An absolute failure. Every update to it has done nothing to improve it. And this is across devices. Whether on my HTC Incredible, HP Touchpad running Cyanogen, or my Galaxy Nexus, it's just as bad everywhere.

Is there an alternative that is not Skyfire?

Can't you just watch in the browser? Isn't that the point of Android having Flash Player?

The flash player has similar issues when dealing with YouTube videos.

..."Other" flash video players don't have those issues.

I haven't had any of the issues you're talking about with the YouTube app on either my Thunderbolt or my Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Yeah, my wife watches a lot of YouTube videos in the app without issues. She had the Incredible and now the Rhyme.

Chrome for Android!

I guess this is only for Ice Cream Sandwich? But holy crap was I happily surprised when I stumbled on this with my Galaxy Nexus. It's awesome. It syncs with your desktop Chrome. Bookmarks, passwords, etc... and best of all, even open tabs!

No more need for Chrome2Phone.

Sad enough after all this time lol Just can't be happy about it in the end, as I already shun it on my laptop.
Google doesn't need to know whatever I am doing on the net. Sticking with Firefox for now.

Damn you for reminding me my Gingerbread phone can't run it.

Chrome for Android still falls far short behind Dolphin in terms of actual browsing experience -- time-to-load, stability, performance, plugins (love my LastPass) etc.

I don't know what you're talking about. Plugins aside, the browsing experience on Chrome is miles ahead of Dolphin..... I ran both side by side for a while on my Galaxy Nexus, and Dolphin just felt old, clunky, and slow. I still resent having to use it on my tablet, which doesn't yet support ICS.

Chrome for Android is still beta, and another shortfall is it does not do flash, yet.

I do lik e it though, especially that it syncs my bookmarks.

The default browser is doing this on my GNex too. Don't know if this is a new ICS thing or more likely it's because I finally signed into Chrome at home to start with?

But when I pull up bookmarks on the stock browser, it has two sections, one for my gmail address, and another for local bookmarks on the phone.

i think its a ICS thing. I'm pretty sure that was not a thing before.

I'm happy with Google Listen. It took some getting used to, but once I got it down, it works fairly well.

Edit: Agreed on that the YouTube app sucks. I can't even bring up my own channel/favorites on the thing. If I want to show someone a video that I posted, I need to do a search for my user name.

Anybody use something like Llama to switch profiles, toggle wi/fi or BT, and other stuff, based on location? Couple similar apps are paid (Locale) or Motorola only (SmartActions).

Trying to decide if that will be enough to help extend my battery life on my new GNex or if I should still get something like Juice Defender in addition to that, or if maybe JD is good enough by itself?

Never really used JD on my old phone. Just had a widget for toggling wifi, gps, etc and would flip things off when I wasn't using them or if the battery got low. I think the GNex is going to need something more to squeeze every bit out of it.

I tried Llama a few weeks ago and wasn't terribly pleased with it. Supposedly, you can have it make adjustments based on Wifi, but I couldn't figure out how to make that happen. It works great if you always have a cell signal, but where I work, I rarely have one, so any time I'd walk into range of a phone tower, it'd flip my profile back from "Silent" to "Normal," and I couldn't figure a way to over-ride it. I just found it easier to set it to Vibrate when I get to work and turn it off when I leave...

Even though it is paid (and not cheap) I do really like Locale. It works well and has a lot of plug-ins for additional options (like a car-dock plug-in). It has gotten even better with my Galaxy Nexus and ICS.
