Orcs Must Die! 2

Pages

Couldn't find an existing thread for this, so voila!

The original was a surprise favourite of mine last year, I'll definitely be picking this up day one.

A full sequel already?

Neat! I got (bugfree!) hours of hilarious fun out of the first game. And this one has COOP? Sold. Day 1 purchase.

Definitely seems entirely too soon, but since the game was so cheap, I can't complain.

I can't complain about it being so soon after the original. It's not like I'm still playing it, so we don't have a Left 4 Dead situation.

So long as it still has the polish and charm of the first, with new stuff and co-op thrown in the mix, what's to complain about? Too many great, cheap, highly polished and entertaining games too quickly?

Orcs Must Die with coop? Day one buy for me.

I've put a little time into the original, but there's a sequel already?!

I loved the first one. I wonder if 360 (or even pc) will have a split screen option, I rather have the person beside me on the couch than over the internet.

Also, it looks like to me the warmage and sorceress will play differently, anybody else got that impression on the video? Hard to tell now.

Also, it seems to be PC only at this point. There is no mention consoles on any posts I've seen so far, only PC. Fine with me, I played the first one on PC and play the demo on 360, seems to be easier to play on PC.

Yeah apparently while the warmage is all about brute force, the sorceress is a bit more subtle, with mind control spells and such.

Also, I guess kind of a spoiler for the first game:

Spoiler:

Apparently she's the sorceress from the original game, the main antagonist. I loved the banter between the warmage and sorceress in the first game, so I hope they keep that up with the sequel. :)

Edit: Added all important exclamation mark to the thread title.

First one might be the best $3.75 I ever spent. Wish I could have my $11 back from Dungeon Defenders and just buy this for coop.

Wow, good catch, but she looks a little different to me.... I'll have check again though.

Ooh, in for one.

There is already a Co-op game much like this, though.

Dungeon Defenders is a lot of fun and is a tower-defense\third-person game.

Dungeon Defenders is a lot of fun and is a tower-defense hird-person game.

Dungeon Defenders feels so different though. While they're in the same genre that's like comparing Bioshock and CoD or something.

Edit: Can't watch the video at work. Is there a release date?

Dungeon Defenders is loot based. OMD is not. Even thought you could call both of them "action tower defense games" the difference is night and day.

Dungeon Defenders is like Orcs Must Die if it was terrible, so yeah, the same.

Toy Soldiers: Cold War was a great co-op TD game. I skipped on OMD because of the lack of multi-player so this is great news. Hopefully they make a console port too for some couch co-op.

I'll probably grab it when it's on sale. I get unreasonable addicted to most decent tower defense games, but OMD was just kind of middle of the pack to me. I definitely enjoyed it, but I never understood why it received quite so much praise.

OMD was just focused. You set your build, and kill kill kill.

No random loot. No character xp. No permanent builds. You could try different strategy from map to map.

DD has a fun bit of story and some entertaining characters. But behind it all is a loot-grind, MMO-style, DLC monster. As they increase the level cap, add in new categories of loot, and sell more and more DLC, you either pay and grind and keep up or you get left behind. No thanks.

OMD 1 is a great game. It has amazing character. I love the voice of the main protagonist -- he's a wizard, but he's a complete meathead. It's overdone in spots, but I still really enjoyed it. And the animation and sense of reality in the world is really excellent. Things feel extremely solid and real when they happen... as the orcs swarm in on you, or the trolls stomp their massive way in, you can see the traps firing, and everything animates and interacts fantastically. It is SUCH a good engine, far better than any other game in its genre.

I'd have to double check what I decided on in my list, but I think OMD was near the top of my 2011 games, probably in the top five, and I even got it pretty cheap. OMD 2 will be a full-priced sale for sure, although I may wait a week or so to make sure they didn't screw it up.

I love the first one, I am definitely going to buy this when I can. coop is definitely a plus!

Looks great.

Release date: July 30

Preorder is up on Steam. 10% off too.

There's also a 2-pack deal which knocks about $2.50 off each copy, before the pre-order discount.

Bad timing. I have too many games from the Steam sale to really want to purchase this right now.

Gotta save something for the next sale!

I barely played the first one. This is tempting but there's no pre-order incentive so I can wait.

Unlock 10 co-op classic levels in Orcs Must Die! 2 by purchasing the original Orcs Must Die! on Steam!

Well that's cool, since I already have that.

Dang, it's a PC exclusive.... Going to have to dust off the mouse I suppose, cause I can't miss OMD2.

I'm curious if I'll enjoy it as much on the PC as I did on the 360.
