WoW: The new scroll of res, free 80s and character faction/server transfers FREE UPGRADE TO CATA

It's the best of both worlds -- raiding is casual now.

So, I'd take a scroll, as I let my sub lapse, and I have no pride.

DoublePosty McPosterson Strikes Again.

PM me, rabbit, and I'll send you a scroll. All I need is your battle.net e-mail addy.

@ Manach: Plenty of folks raid (I'm not one of them), but there are plenty of other folks on Blackhand and elsewhere doing stuff that's less intense. So far this morning I worked toward Loremaster via some nostalgic quests in EPL, dug up some fossils and dwarf artifacts in Eastern Kingdoms and help off a desperate Horde attempt to wrest Tol Barad from the grip of the glorious Alliance.

And that was just on my paladin.

How active is the gwj community? I have a year sub but I'm bored because all my friends are gone. What server should I be playing on?

Blackhand server, Alliance side. I haven't been terribly active lately (trying to burn through The Pile a bit), but typically there's ~10 folks on and active during raid times, and generally 2-4 folks other evenings. Hopefully these Scrolls of Res bring some more people back to the game, though.

PM sent!

I also have scrolls to give if anyone wants them. I play Horde-side on Wyrmrest Accord... it's a RP server.

Who is around on the Alliance side on Blackhand that can invite.. I moved one of my alts used the scroll to be insta level 80.. I'm Nogatco

@ GG: Among the regulars who can invite are me (look for Jorrn, Isengrim or Sherrman), Bifur and Selika/Ellaia. Or do the /who GWJ and ask the first person who pops up.

I'm usually in game after 7 p.m. Eastern (6 p.m. server) for a couple of hours most nights.

Like Merph said, GWJ Alliance is kinda-sorta active. Star Wars, the late Cata blahs and some general WoW burnout have thinned the ranks. But most nights there are folks on looking to do stuff, and the SoR have brought some folks back.

Blackhand as a server seems fine -- there are plenty of folks on, and there's always something going on. I moved over from a RP server a year ago and have been happy with it. TB alternates usually between Horde and Alliance, and the top raiding guild (not ours!) is on the Alliance side.

Not the right thread I know, but I really didn't want to start a new one for such a simple question.

Do we still have a Horde guild on Blackhand? I'm sure it's mostly (or totally) inactive, but I started a Goblin yesterday that I plan to play for a while and I'd rather have him in the GWJ guild if anyone has an active account that could invite. Getting asked to join "Kewl Doodz" every 5 minutes because I'm unguilded gets rather tedious.

Bleh...I hate ginvite spam XD I dunno how it looks for GWJ on horde side....but I say that for MoP we all go Horde....Horde's better anyways and the races are way cooler!!!

I can invite ya, El, but the invite will be coming from an Alliance-side toon. Don't know if that matters. If it doesn't, shoot me your battle.net e-mail addy in a pm.

There is a GWJ Horde guild, but as far as I know it's dormant. There is a thread for it somewhere on this board if you want to necro it in hopes of finding the GM.

Interesting changes. About time they realized that new players want to play with their friends, and 1-80 is daunting. They sure are slow to learn these things, though.

Who's the top raiding guild these days, Enix?

Still Gwen Stefani, I assume.

Yea, there's still a GWJ Horde guild, but I don't know of anyone that's actually in it. Given that the most recent guild achievement happened last year, I can't say that there are folks still logging in.

edit - I looked through a few characters(guild is here on Armory, btw) and from what I saw, folks either hadn't logged in since Dec last year, or had probably let accounts lapse. In general, when folks ask about guilds for WoW and want to play with Goodjers, I recommend rolling Alliance.

Ah. When I last played, those folks were having a lot of internal bickering because they couldn't finish ICC25 hard modes. A couple Horde guilds had.

I found it fascinating to observe server culture through the lens of the realm forum, especially the guild progress page.

Yep. A few of their folks started sporting the "Savior of Azeroth" titles a couple of weeks ago.

Wowprogress has Despair and Faded Dreams as the top Horde guilds. These two and GS are the only three server guilds with H-Deathwing kills.

Blackhand ranks 44 among 246 U.S. servers, for what it's worth.

I am not opposed to rolling MoP on the horde side. It would be starting over, yes, however that could turn out to be an enjoyable experience for those of us who haven't experienced the horde side of the game.

During one of the free weeks that Blizz sends every couple of months, I rolled a goblin. Have to say it was a blast - probably the best of the newbie experiences I've seen in terms of plain old laughs and fun.

I'll roll some Horde at some point (I want to do the goblin starting area before Panda drops), but I'll go somewhere else. With a main, alts and bank alts, I'm just about maxxed on BH. The word on Panda is that we'll get one extra toon slot per server.

I received a scroll from a friend on a different server.

I read the FAQ, and was told I could move the toon that was boosted with the scroll to the same server as my friend, but... Can that toon be "created" on a different server? Like the BHA's one? (I might not like it back at the previous server, and have a boosted level 80 on a new server would be a double benifit for me).

I'd think you could. have you tried it?

It won't take much to create a character on Blackhand and see if you can use the level boost on it.

I didn't activate my free 7 days yet.. I wanted to finish Skyrim first, and will be trying after.

Skyrim has an end?

Iv'e logged 200+ hours on my Skyrim game. Apparently I'm anal retentive completionist.

When I used the Scroll recently I picked an old level 59 Warlock I'd played on Hyjal years before and boosted it to 80 and transferred to Blackhand. There's no limitation on where the character comes from, only that the character being leveled to 80 must be the same one using the faction/server transfer and you can only transfer to the server of the person sending you the scroll. (No clue how this works if they have characters on multiple servers.)

The only thing I don't know for certain is if the boost/transfer can be used on a character that did not exist when you accepted the scroll. I'd assume it can, because the system doesn't look all that complicated, it just lists all your characters and lets you pick.

Could I get a scroll as well? PM me for my email.

Got one thanks

BTW, according to the details on the SoR, the free faction/server transfers are limited to the same as the character offering the scroll. The idea is to be able to play with the friend who just rezzed you.

Damn, between the goodjer guild and this I'm almost tempted to try WoW again, especially since

(which would be good as I have no characters).

However I'm now so out of touch with this game I suspect I would be horridly lost with a level 80 toon.
