Saints Row The Third Catch-All

Just put the .exe in the SR3 folder, and run the Xbox .exe in it. Save your stuff, and voila.

You need the emulator to be in the directory of the game you wish to use it. (Not into the sub on tho)

Tried this last night and it worked. Thanks! Although, I'm starting to consider picking up a Logitech 710 because I just want stuff to work without having to resort to launching additional apps.

Anyways ~2 hours in, so a couple of thoughts / questions:

Is there any sort of targeting lock-on available? I haven't played a game like this since GTA and I'm absolutely terrible at aiming with a thumb stick (now I know why so many games have health regen these days!). Similarly, is there any way to have the camera stay behind my character when I'm walking around? I'm having a spot of trouble adjusting to the controls since my mind is firmly in GTA mode and pretty much every action is on a different button in this game. Loading up the control scheme menu item completely justifies this Penny-Arcade comic.

It's neat how having a posse changes the whole feel of the genre. Really enjoying the banter and conversation between my character and the other Saints. Although I feel like there's some context I'm missing having not played SR2. It's also nice being able to focus on driving while Shaundi shoots stuff from the passenger seat.

All the Season Pass DLC is available after you get your first crib. I'm still not a huge fan of this setup since it doesn't feel organic but I can see why the devs did it. Any recommendations on when to tackle them? Otherwise, just going to play through the story missions until I feel like trying the DLC ones, I guess.

Music choices are pretty solid. Not as tight as Vice City but some great choices in here.

The best part is all of that could be real and I'd totally believe it.

I guess it is a testament to the game that all of that would fit right in with the game

Picked this up a couple days ago (Woohoo for Impulse that let me get the game at $16.49!). I'm only 4% done with the game but LOVING IT! Tonight I get to try out co-op so looking forward to that as well.

It really is fantastic, isn't it? Tell all your friends!

I like this game so much I just bought the Season Pass even though I have limited playtime what with our newborn. I almost never buy DLC - I think the only other stuff I've bought on 360 were more multiplayer maps for Gears of War 1&2.

I started with Genki Bowl just because it came first. I can see how this would have been disappointing if I didn't have two more missiony packs waiting for me. That said, I loved getting more of the Genki Show, and loved the new jungle theme. I was sad there were only two locations for it, though.

I don't know. Sounds like a little too much content to be believable.

In general, the longer you wait the easier it'll be. You should probably do the clone one late in the game or after the ending, just for narrative purposes (the only rewards you'll get from that one are two Brute homies so you aren't missing much). The movie one has the best rewards but has a TON of combat, so you might want to hold off until you've at least bought a few durability upgrades. You can probably hit the Genkibowl stuff whenever.

None of them are essential right off the bat. The flying, armed vehicles you get from the movie DLC are nice, but it's not hard getting an armed helicopter. There's usually one sitting around at the National Guard base.

Picked up SR3 again last week after putting it on hold for reviews & other crap. Boy, was I dumb.

I humbly submit: If you don't love this game, you don't love video games.

This is exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks

I may be a lone dissenter here, but I have seriously mixed feelings on the game (just finished it after picking it up during a Steam Sale).

Spoiler:

The core mission arc felt woefully short and only had a few missions with any real meat in them. There's an over-reliance on the "activities" to create playtime (most of them are terribly boring) and far too much of the rail-shooting sequences that offered little-to-no real challenge. The DLC was really half-assed.

Moreover, the game traded silliness for all of its gravity and I miss caring about what happens and the tension of a good firefight. The game has been lauded for "not taking itself too seriously" and I think that's justified praise for the hot dog costumes, dildos and dancing - things that do make me smile - but I think they went too far in removing everything that isn't related to "lol".

That said, I did enjoy:
- Character creation and modification
- Variety of weapons and street combat (at least until you get the highly explosive stuff)
- Vehicle collecting, even if the driving dynamics are mickey mouse (even for an arcade-style driving experience)
- Co-op functionality

It would be much funnier if the above posts were quasi-reversed, like below:

:p

After 5ish hours of co-op with Dr Awkward, I have to say that I'm an idiot for not picking this game up sooner! He has already beaten the game so rather than a challenge it was more like me trying not to get set on fire and knocked off huge buildings by "The Penetrator" I believe it was called.

I'm holding off on the DLC as this game seems to have a TON to do which should more than keep me amused until Diablo 3 is released.

Finished Genki Bowl VII tonight. I had a really good time with it, even if it was just more activities. I loved the Genki show in the game proper, so making a bunch of Genki-themed activities narrated by the same guys was great by me. The only two things that I would change would have been making more instances of Apocalypse Genki and getting all the voice actors to do the final cutscene following Genki Bowl. The way they did that was totally lame.

Anyway, on to Gangstas in Space!

I finished the rest of the DLC last night. Gangstas in Space and The Trouble With Clones were just alright - I think I may actually have preferred Genki Bowl VII. Anyway, not my favorite missions, but they were a good excuse to get back into the world of Saints Row 3, so I don't regret the season pass at all.

Did I read somewhere that more DLC is planned?

Now I'm back yet again to trying to play Mass Effect 1.

Loving the game overall, but have really hit a wall with 'Takeover The City'. I just gave up last night and drove around listening to Social Distortion's 'Ball and Chain' on my Mixtape.

At release they promised "40 weeks of DLC" but that turned out to be pretty much meaningless. I imagine there'll be at least one more tiny piece of content at week 40, if that.

For those of you interested in the new Special Ops Vehicle Pack, a little FYI: you can use the customization bug to increase their armor, nitrous, and kneecappers (on the N-Forcer) but they've cleaned up all of the extraneous customization options from the standard N-Forcer and Crusader. You can change the rim and trim colors on the N-Forcer, and the glass tint color on the Crusader, but other than that you can't tweak their appearance any. In other words: they're going to stay purple.

At least until you install Gentlemen of the Row.

I don't know if anyone watches Hey Ash, Whatcha Playing? but funny video relating to the game here. (NSFW language)

That was effing awesome, and you rule for posting it.

She's totally right, too.

I finally polished off the main story the other night, and the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced SR3 is a brilliant parody of the open-world genre. And it works so well as a parody because it works so well (better than GTA IV or RDR, I'd argue) as an open-world game. The controls are tight, the pace is finely tuned, the activities are varied, the rewards are useful and frequent, and the tone is winkingly over-the-top without getting irritatingly knowing. It basically manages to out-GTA GTA in every way that matters to me as a player. I'm drafting an article on this soon (I hope!) & will link here.

I tell everyone I know that SR3 is a better GTA. Yes, everyone. Yes, my co-worker's 50-something year-old husband is playing it now.

Just lent this out to a military friend that's looking to kill some time. Can't wait to hear how he likes it

I try my damndest to convince people that this game is fantastic but NOBODY BELIEVES ME. Maybe if I show them the Ash watcha playin video again...and again until they get it.

You're welcome.

I guess you could say the sh*t hit the fan.

Yeah you could.

I've been messing around in SR3 lately with the recording feature turned on but I've found it really screws up with my streaming. If I move any significant distance at any sort of speed, this happens:

By the way, somewhere along the way they added some new dialog to the radio announcers.

recording feature? hmm, I will need to look into this, or just use fraps depending on how it works.

I'm so disappointed by the lack of decent DLC for this game. There hasn't been any story stuff outside of Gangstas in Space (which wasn't very good). Everything has been stupid little item packs. Here's hoping for an expansion pack--though I won't be holding my breath with THQ having one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

The Trouble With Clones is also story-based, Swarfigo. Also, Genki Bowl VII is out there. It's not exactly story-based, but it's great fun.

I played them all and surprisingly enjoyed Genki Bowl the best. The others were only okay, but did serve to get me playing SR3 again for a time.

Oh, that Ash link made my Saturday night.

It's built in to the game and aside from the streaming issues, works very well. You just leave it running and then hit F10 to save the last 30 seconds of gameplay. It disables all the music for licensing issues, though.
