Interesting Kickstarter Catch-All

I'm a sucker for Video Game History stuff, so here's the High Score: A Video Game History 3rd Edition project page. 8 days to go and they're pretty close to full funding.

EDIT: That mecha lego game looks interesting. I might have to get my bin of bricks back from my parents

The series has a reputation as a pretty decent overview of the history of the medium. It's strange that they need Kickstarter to keep going, in that they should be selling enough that they don't need that model.

I've pledged a little money to it

I kicked into it and also Wasteland.

I saw this linked from Penny-arcade - Mech game made with lego and the models look pretty cool. Build your own models but I might kick in the $10 just to look at the book.

Yeah, I was going to post this. That sounds pretty slick.

I just backed the mech game for $20. Can't wait to play, in fact, I let the people at the Fallout Shelter arcade in Minneapolis know and at least one other person is planning on backing them as well.

Auditorium 2: Duet is about to end ... and they're really close. Read about it at GiantBomb, which was the first I heard they were trying to make an Auditorium 2.

You may remember Auditorium. You can check out the demo here in your browser: http://www.playauditorium.com/

Edit: They've joined up with KickingItForward, so I'm definitely pitching in.

My only hesitation is that, while I loved the first one, I didn't come close to finishing it.

Looks like Auditorium 2 will get my 15$, they reached they goal

A friend of mine told me about this the other day, and this NEEDS to be made.

Time is running out. 26 hours left as of this post and about $53,000 to go. C'mon Goodjers. Make it happen.

I already mention this earlier, but I'm glad you bringing back to light. It would be nice to see another game like classic R6 & SWAT. It had jump quite it a bit over the last 5 days after they rebooted the page so there is some hope left...

I backed this one, looks useful: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

Well slap me silly and call me a filthy skimmer. But, yeah it could definitely use a little more exposure. Seems like these guys should have done a lot more to get the word out. Hit up a few forums, pimp yo sh*t guys!

22 hours...still 25% to go...doesn't look good really.

Already funded, but to keep an eye on, as I do like Star Trek

Well, it looks like "Takedown" will make it after all, Notch came in and saved the day (tweeted it, maybe donated), it jump $20 grand in the past couple of hours. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

Edit: Just passed the goal! Now hopefully not to many people withdraw their pledge.

Edit again: Sorry for the double post, I press the wrong button... I shouldnt do this on my iPhone.

I am all out of money really. So great to see that they did make it. Yesterday was still 25% to go. Before Notch said something, it was already getting close though. But the bump was more than welcome, if not badly needed even. My support might come later, with buying the product.

Sweet. Super awesome that made it.
So what did Notch actually do? Did he pledge money, or post it on his blog for his rabid fanbase to do the rest? Either way, Big time kudos.

I know he tweeted about them, not sure how much he donated.

Make Leisure Suit Larry Come Again

They have the license.
They have Al Lowe.

EDIT: Though this kickstarter is for a modern remake of LSL 1, it's also going to give a sense of whether future new releases would make it in the market.

I went back and found an interview with Al Lowe that I saw a couple of years ago. Part of it gives a good glimpse of his opinion of the franchise and the last couple of games that came out. At the time, he thought the franchise had been "stained" and it had been too long since a real Larry game was released. Maybe the kickstarter will prove him wrong!

They should re-release all of them at once. But not sure if the money is enough (if they make it) to do that. And then also a new episode.
Remaking it, because they can...I don't know. I love the series, that's not it, just want more then a new jacket for it.

They're also planning on putting them on touch screen devices like iOS and Android. I think the plan is to ultimately roll out a new game once they're done with the remakes. I suspect they're starting with remakes to figure out a development pipeline and to re-introduce the character/franchise after having it run through the mud by Vivendi/Activision.

It's kinda funny that we've seen plenty of fan projects for many of the other Sierra adventure series, but Larry never seemed to get that amount of love.

I gotta say that I have little interest in a Leisure Suit Larry game, but that was a fun Kickstarter video.

There was a good interview in Kill Screen, too.

What, and blow the whole load?

Just pledged 15$

Somehow I don't really believe in a return of Larry but I support Kickstarter initiatives, especially when it's for a genre deemed "dead"

I enjoyed the Kill Screen article on LSL too but more so for the insight into the old days of game development and less so because I cared about those specific games.

The Kill Screen article is a great one. Thanks for pointing that one out, Wordy.

This photographer Chris Johnson has 4 days left on his kickstarter to fund an inspirational book about athiests. I thought it was nice that someone was trying to put together a book that a) doesn't make athiests look like assholes, b) deals with atheism without treating non-atheists like subhumans.

Upgrade almost any board game by replacing the player markers or tokens that came in the box with PennyGems. They're dazzlingly shiny, feel solid yet sensual to the touch, are very easy to pick up off a table (because of their raised edges), are non-skid, stack surprisingly well, have a nice weight to them, and are incredibly durable. Each one has an icon on one side which ensures that people who are color-blind or visually impaired can still easily identify different kinds, and the symbols also establish a rank or order for the colors, should a game need that.

Completely agree with both parts of your post here.
