NCAA Basketball 2011-12 Catch-All

I read a pretty great article on Grantland the other day that said something along the lines of "If you're not a 20-35 year old male, you should probably leave the state of Kentucky this weekend."

Not sure what they mean by that. Everyone is a basketball fan in the state. Man or woman, child through senior citizen.

Here's a link to the whole article:

I like the whole tongue-in-cheek attitude of Grantland, but if that's not your sort of thing, Grantland probably won't really do it for you.

Kind of sad to see him go, but happy as hell to see Danny Manning get a shot as a head coach. The guy put in serious work on Bill Self's staff.

I first saw Danny Manning play basketball at Shawnee Mission Northwest when Lawrence came to play. Manning's father had just been hired by Larry Brown, so he played his senior year in Lawrence, which was in our league.

And then I saw him play at Kansas when I went there. I have a ton of great Danny Manning memories. It was kind of heartbreaking to see injuries ruin what should have been an awesome pro career.

A lot of people thought Manning was just on the staff to help recruit, but in reality he was working his butt off for this opportunity. Guys like Cole Aldrich, the Morris Twins, as well as Thomas Robinson and Jeff Withey from this year's team all saw performances improve dramatically after working with him. He is a hell of a teacher.

Gonna have to root hard for Tulsa now.

And the first vicitim of UK's championship... man shot in last night's "celebration" has foot amputated today.

So... one last post to close out the season. We can start a new thread soon when pre-season polls release..

Coaches: Who is perceived to be the biggest cheater in the sport?

John Calipari (Kentucky): 36 percent
Scott Drew (Baylor): 34 percent
Ben Howland (UCLA): 12 percent
Jim Calhoun (Connecticut): 7 percent
Tom Crean (Indiana): 3 percent
Dave Rice (UNLV): 3 percent
Others receiving votes: Too many to list.

No surprises there. Well maybe Crean could be a little higher. But there's a clear #1.

2% is clear?

New season topic is up, since Midnight Madness was today.
