NFL 2011-2012 Off-Season Pre-Draft Catch-All

Pretty much all I watch on ESPN is PTI and the actual games they show. Sometimes I'll catch a little bit of Sportscenter as carry over from something else.

You know, it's taken for granted that Indy will select Andrew Luck, but on ESPN, Merrill Hoge said he studied over 100 hours of game film of Luck & RG3, and ranked RG3 better in 3 categories, Luck better in 1, and a tie in the 5th category. He said if he were Indy, he'd select RG3 "in a heartbeat".

Michael Bush... FROM LOUISVILLE ...goes to the Bears

Matt Forte should be so offended that he demands a trade. To Tampa, for a 4th round pick. If it's worth Tebow, it's worth Forte, right? Right?

In other words, the Broncos can cut Manning at any point after Super Bowl XLVII and before the last day before the start of the 2013 league year and limit the contract to a one-year, $18 million investment. And so, just as the Colts faced a $28 million decision in March 2012, the Broncos will face a $40 million decision in March of 2013.

Good lord.

All the reports from RG3's pro day have been very impressive too.

His tweets reveal that he is just as offended as you suggest.

Skip Bayless is King Troll of the Zombies.

I said it at Christmas, I'll say it again, RGIII is the truth.

Von Miller likes RG III and hates Skip Bayless; me, too.

So who is the winner so far in FA?

Tebow is officially a Jet; he apparently had the option to choose the Jets or Jaguars, and chose the Jets.

Thank you, Tim, for the entertainment you being on the Jets will give us.

not yet

Bills.

I hope he turns out to be really good, but the one thing I still wonder about is his durability. Is he going to be able to take hits, or is his running going to be negated because he cannot? The few games I saw him play this past year, there were one or two times during the game where he'd get popped, and I wondered if he was going to get back up.

Going homer, but the Bucs. Best FA WR out there. Best FA offensive lineman out there. A decent corner at a reasonable rate. All three deals with two years of guaranteed salaries but no bonus money, so if they don't work out, they're cut after two seasons with no future cap hits. Good players with good contracts.

If Grif ends up in Indy, how would Luck fit in with the Redskins offense?

Was going to say the same two. 3rd place for Denver? They turned Tebow into Manning and if it doesn't work out they can cut their ties after this year. The money is huge but if your going to agree that this is a QB league they had 0 chance otherwise. Would want to put SF up there but not sure what damage chasing Manning will do and who knows what they actually get out of Moss.

Who lost? Pretty much anyone who was flirting with Manning and failed to get anything else done because of it.

Report: Tebow has sights set on starting job

My read: Tebow thinks it's easier to beat out Mark Sanchez than Blaine Gabbert.

Legion should be about the world's biggest Chad Henne fan right now; my guess is if Gabbert didn't have him as a backup, Tebow would be in Jacksonville right now.

What offense? Seriously though, what is their offensive identity? They are not a power running team, they are not a real 'west coast' team, last year they had mediocre-to-bad QBs and RBs and they don't have a great WR core or a top o-line as far as I know. It seems to me whichever QB they draft they are going to build an offense around him, not try to fit a QB into their existing scheme, assuming they have one.

I think if you get that guy you build your offense to fit him, and not the other way around.

Not sure, but, when I read this post, my thought was "Boy, I feel bad for whichever guy gets drafted by the Redskins". Seriously.

Somebody really needs to figure out how to bankrupt Snyder so he has to sell the team.

FTFY. Those are reasons enough to put Denver at or near the top of the argument.

Yeah, as far as FA winners, not Houston. The line we're hearing here is "the off-season isn't over yet." Again, hope they have a plan.

Also, I think it was Mike Lombardi who said a couple days ago that he thinks Manning would have picked the Texans if they'd shown interest. I died a little inside. As much as he's been a villain in Houston for beating us with the Colts, I remember watching his games occasionally ten years ago because he was such an exciting passer.

Still, four neck surgeries.

Chad Henne is the man.

We sing of him with reverence.

I'm convinced the sports reporting world has lost its collective minds...

Tim Tebow is NOT a good Quarterback... and worse telling him he's great every day and having press conferences for a second string QB (please someone let me know when was the last time a 2nd string ANYTHING got a press conference?) will probably lead him to believe he doesn't have to work his butt off to even become a decent throwing QB.

Not to mention he (largely through no fault of his own) will be a cancer in the locker-room. Press will interview him.. people will talk about him.. regardless of wins/loss and whatever he says to attempt to deflect positive or negative attention back to his teammates will fail and his teammates will resent him.

I would be shocked if this season doesnt end up as a total disaster for the Jets.. Better pray Sanchez has a career year.

That's hard to say, because people will judge right now based on signing players who have already reached their peak and thus are expensive big names.

The real winner of free agency is the team who signs up-and-coming players who will reach their peaks for their new team.

A lot of those potential guys are still out there on the market, and a lot more will hit the market between now and the start of the season, as rosters cut down.

Pfffft. Hipster.

The big name guys are still great if you're correct and they still have plenty of their peak years ahead of them. But that shouldn't be taken for granted as true - as the "Dream Team" Eagles.

One thing I'm not inclined to think about Tebow is that he will fail to work hard. My impression of him is that he comes to work.

I judge this in part because of the fact that he's clearly not lost on the football field. He doesn't go around making a lot of mental mistakes. He just doesn't have the tools required to get it done. The most impressive thing about his "miracle" comebacks is that he did not sabotage them with a lot of young QB stupid mistakes. He doesn't play stupidly, he just physically can't complete a pass.

From what I watched, all those incomplete passes were thrown to receivers that were "open". He read things right and threw to the right guy, the ball just bounced at their feet.

I'm not convinced that Tebow can throw like an NFL quarterback no matter how much work he puts into it. Very few people possess the physical gifts to make NFL throws.
