Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Catch-All – Shepards with Jobs

Vector and Gains: Are you actually _the_ Vector and Gains on Origin? I can't seem to find you - though I admit I didn't try every one of the results pages that come up when you search for those names on Origin.

If you are, it's going to be hard for other people to find your profile through Origin's bad search engine, so I'd recommend being proactive on sending out invites to other people who are listed on the doc or in this thread.

I'm still at Bronze level. I've had a couple of runs at silver but can't get a decent enough team to get past wave 6. I've been dominating with the Soldier using Viper and no other weapon. It's great because I get Carnage too. So it's pretty much sniper and carnage. Nice combo. Lots of headshots and then carnage for taking down the close range dudes.

Can't wait to get some more weapons though so I can go up to silver a bit more.

Anyone playing a Quarian Infiltrator? Quarfiltrators absolutely murder all forms of geth. I imagine four well-leveled ones (sabotage and cloak) could do gold pretty easily, but haven't had the chance to try.

Vector_TheAngel. I'll send out invites shortly.

Overload also decimates geth pretty well. We had a team with 3 players with overload the other day, all the multi-hit-upgrade, and it was just boom-boom-boom 3 geth down every shot.

I've added "Hiriri" and some other dude already, but I need more Goojers! More!

You can find all of our Origin IDs in the Google Doc and add yours to it. I think I added you, but I was searching for Nicholaas and it came up with a weird Origin ID. That might have been you.

I totally forgot that even on the 360, I'm still signed in to EA Origins. I've been wondering why the hell no one was on the 360. =P

Ahhhh... Well, there was a thread for Consoles, but it looks like it didn't take. You still might find some 360 folk in the google doc. You also might try adding all the 360 BF3 folk from that doc if you haven't already. That would probably be your best bet to get some ME3 multiplayer friends.

Ok, I added myself to the appropriate spots on the google doc. My Origins ID is now VaultDweller1981. I apparently hadn't even chosen an ID yet!

Winning gold with a group for the first time: nice.
Getting disconnected by the EA servers in round 8, and only getting half the rewards after re-connecting: not so nice.

Starting another gold with lots of equipment: nice.
Getting disconnected by the EA servers in round 1, and losing all the equipment: not so nice.

Getting three grabs in a row on gold difficulty: awesome!
Getting disconnected ten seconds later: f*ck you, EA. f*ck you very much.

*sigh* Couldn't bring myself to re-join after that, which means I just left my three teammates in the lurch.

What a sh*tty way to end the night.

I just stopped playing tonight because the damn EA servers kept disconnecting me midgame. Pretty damn annoying when your DRM gets in the way of the paying customer actually using the product.

The problem I find with multiple quarian infiltrators trying to handle geth on silver difficulty is killing everything before the diminishing returns on Sabotage kick in. A QInfil and an engineer running multi-target Overload and two decent range DPS makes for a fairly smooth silver run.
On gold, make sure your team understands spawn control, too many players don't.

The Krogan sentinel is becoming my favorite combo. He's a tank and a half, and runs around the map murdering anything that comes in arm's reach. And you can kit him out however you want, ignoring the weight, since he rarely needs a power, the geth plasma shotgun works well. He spends soooo much time in Blood Rage, the distorted graphics are starting to look normal.

Our four-man gold team was anti-Geth. Two engineers, one quarian infiltrator, one salarian infiltrator. Overloads and drains and sabotages, oh my.

Yeah, it was epic! At least we managed it once!

Cheers to Hypatian and tuffalobuffalo! It was an epic night of Geth destruction. We mighta gotten that second gold win if you hadn't dropped

Heheheh... Gold is going to take some serious planning. I look forward to coordinating classes and whatnot.

So what's a grab?

So it wasn't just me getting disconnected. Lost a tonne of XP and cash from it. Thanks to Bonnonon and Laars for dealing with it. Had a good time despite the problems. I did manage to rejoin just as Laars was bleeding out so I could take out the last 3 guys.

Would really love to read all the great posts here, but massively limited time means I'm a filthy skimmer (as in read the OP, skipped to here). So:

Are people having an easy time getting a group together? Is it getting more difficult as people are finishing the game? I'm probably picking up my copy this week, and hope to be able to be a part of the action.

I've been having an easy time. Did my first Silver match today with 3 other GWJers. Would have been great fun if myself and another weren't constantly getting disconnected. This is the first time that it's happened to me. If no GWJers are available playing public is pretty good. You still get XP and cash even if you fail a mission.

In ~8-10 hours I will be available for some games on Silver. Managed to win only one game. Preferably with people from EU since it's p2p and the lag will be horrible.
Origin name: liquid-gwj

Instakill you can do if an enemy is behind a low and fairly thin piece of cover. (Doesn't have to be too thin, most places will work, but there are a few cover spots that are actually too thick for it.) Run up into cover opposite the enemy. A fist icon will appear on screen. Hit melee and you'll see what a grab is.

The AI seems to know you can do it, though, it's usually pretty quick to run away when you go in to cover across from it, so you have to be quick. Only exception is the Geth Pyro, which I've found will walk right up into grab range as long as it's focused on you.

Also, you can only do it on things your own size. You could probably have guessed you can't do it to a Banshee, but just in case you hadn't: don't try. I think Phantoms may be an exception as well, though I haven't wanted to get close enough to try much.

Ah ok, so that's a grab.

Also, on a side note, I hate banshees.

Sniper rifles man. It's the way to go. Sabotage usually freezes them in place for a couple seconds at least giving one free kill, and I find Geth to be easier headshots than pretty much anything else. They even put a nice glowy light right where you're supposed to shoot them

So should I get a class to level 20 before trying silver? I am somewhat wary with my Vanguard, since I am only level 16 and am still rocking a Mk. 1 pistol due to horrible luck with the veteran packs.

Also, it would be nice if we had a little summary of the differences between bronze, silver and gold for the OP.

Banshees can kiss my ass. Seriously, I hate them.

I gotta say, I almost think that my BF3 Soldier is more powerful than my Shepard. It shouldn't feel like that, but it kind of does.

Man, I really want to get a Revanent. I wish there was some sort of trading function. I have a ton of sniper crap I never use.

My first unlock with a Spectre Pack was the Widow. Unfortunately my main character is a Sentinel right now.

Silver is doable mid teens. Hard still. Partly depends on how well equipped you go in.

I've unlocked full customization for Krogan Soldier. I think that means I got it something like 5 times. Hopefully this means I'll never get it again (because it would suck to get a rare that's nothing but a wad of XP).

If you're looking for a good Vanguard weapon, try something that charges like the Arc Pistol, Geth Plasma Shotgun, or my personal favorite, the Graal Spike Thrower. You can charge up your gun before you do your biotic charge.

As LtWarhound pointed out, the only problem with that is that geth eventually become immune to Sabotage, and without anyone dedicated to dealing damage, the squad would be entirely dependent upon hacked geth to fight for them. Sniper rifles might help but their weight could be an issue (my Mantis VII does almost as much damage as my Widow I but is far, far lighter). Since the Quarian Infiltrators can cloak it might be better just to stick to shotguns.

I have a level 20 Quarian Infiltrator and would be willing to give it a go.
