Prozac 2.0 - Heart Surgery

As you command Your Most Terrible Momness!!

Seriously though, Mrs. Prozac is a trooper and doesn't give herself anywhere near enough credit for how awesome she truly is. Which is why I keep telling her.

In line with that She had everything horrible happen to her Sunday/Monday and they've just discharged her! She's suffered a massive gut wound and she's off hard drugs and just taking a little panadol. She's seriously the strongest person I know and compared to various friends of hers that have had children she makes them all look like soft girly people!

The best part about being discharged here in Australia is that she's no longer under medical care but the government is still paying for her to have a bed and three meals a day in the hospital so she's on call for baby feedings. She is free to come and go as she pleases but is classified as a boarder.

Keep telling her. And if you need any backup, we can tell her too.

I hope the title is a joke, though. I really was trying to be funny there and I hope I didn't fail. My funny-meter is kind of broken right now and I've been having to get out my mint-flavored sneakers a couple times lately.

Congrats, m8y. I thought our go was tough, but yours goes a bit beyond that.

My wife has a murmur and is still kicking, so I'm betting he'll be okay. I heard 2.0 is already rejecting authority and going skaven!

Great to hear!

VSD confirmed. Hole looks sizable enough that they expect that surgery will be required. Appointment in 8 weeks to reassess.

Hang in there FamilyP, sending as much healing energy as can travel to the Upper East Coast.

That is really awesome..when I was discharged but they kept the babies, they gave us 2 cots in a conference room, no more meds, no more meals and no shower in the room..although the nurses were really wonderful and considerate. I would have slept on the cement outside the hospital had they forced me to leave, just to be near my babies. But as the babies only source of nutrition, it was really important to be close to them, so a cot in a room on the same floor, was just fine by me.

Crap. That's not good news, but at least it is a direction to go in. I'm sorry. I've got nothing beyond good thoughts and prayers for all three of you.

What, no pineapple?

Awesome shot dude, there be a lot of love in that hug.

My Nan, His Great Grandmother's first cuddle.

She travelled by bus, train and plane to be there and if I'm doing as well as she is at 72 I'll be happy.

I don't think he was too amused.

Suspicious baby is suspicious.

Sorry about the lack of updates, I've just been too busy.

So two days ago Mrs P. and I spent 4+ hours in emergency as she was unwell, and after a series of blood tests we got the delightful news that as a result of the caeserean she has endometriosis. Onto the IV antibiotics she went.

I had a quiet day at home getting the house ready and catching up on things like mowing the lawn. So while I was mowing through the long grass I ran over a snake with the lawn mower.

I picked him up on a long plank of wood and laid him out on top of the airconditioning unit to get a better look and I saw that the mower blade had bit deep into the side of his head and he had one eye out. I left the 'dead' snake there and went about my business. Later as I was heading back to the hospital I noticed that he was no longer where I had left him. Great. Now I have a one eyed brain damaged snake out there looking for revenge. I should have known to cleanse it with fire.

The good news however is that they've finally taken the nose tube out and the boy is taking his feeds throw a special haberman feeder bottle, they're only $70 each

As you can see below I get peckish waiting around in hospital.

I'm late to the thread, but congrats Prozac! Someone get that baby a molotov!

I hope you and your family are recovering, my thoughts are with you all.

Mmmmmmm, baby come in pineapple flavor...

Teehee. Those baby expressions are hilarious. Very few people can pull off a good sneer.

YAY! Brought them home today, so this will be our first night with the baby, wish us luck!

Good luck!

Agreed. That's a totally awesome sneer that baby has there! He's going to grow up a total badass, as the sneer is about one part of the requirements already. Either that or a supervillain, I forget which.

Ooh, cool. Best of luck!

I have nothing productive to add other than a manly flug, a hearty congratulations, and a hops based beverage in whatever sized receptacles you lot drink out of these days should we ever meet in person.

Congrats, and love 'em because they are great.

Glad to find someone else who appreciates how tender and flavorfully juicy babby can be.

Congrats on making it home, Prozac! Big first second ninth step.

I'm pretty sure a giant spider just ate it while you weren't looking. I hear that happens all the time there.

Congratulations! That's awesome news.

Congrats!

Congrats! And for the love of God, never sleep in the same bed with the baby!

Yeah, no kidding! Those baby beds are small enough without you trying to curl up in there, Prozac!

Prozac - I'm only just now reading this thread, but wanted to offer my support and good wishes. The birthing process you had was STRIKINGLY similar to our own - though at no point did we have any problems with the doctors the way you have. But just to recap ours: wife was in labor for a total of 54 hours (48 of those were unmedicated, and the last 8 were under petosin due to extreme exhaustion). A few hours of pushing which resulted in a mom with high fever and baby with a tachy heartbeat, which led to emergency cesarian (spinal block for mom). Baby came out with a lung infection and spent the week in ICU, nurses spent a few hours trying to get an IV in baby's wrist and ended up going for the heel, gave her both a feeding tube and a tube to suck infection from her lungs, two lumbar punctures for baby to try to determine if infection had spread... the tale goes on, but I was struck at the similarities. I feel really fortunate to have had excellent and thoughtful and respectful doctors and nurses the whole way - I can't imagine how much more difficult it could have been had that not been the case.

So all this is to say I wish you and your family well. The coming months (and 2-3 years) will be a challenge, but since this is 2.0 you're probably aware of that. But man, my daughter is just over 2 years old now and I have to say she is F*CKING AWESOME. I look forward to hearing more about your family and I'm wishing you all the best with all the challenges you're facing.

So, our baby boy is going to need heart surgery. Due to the nature of the problem it will require the full sternum cracking, rib spreading experience instead of just a keyhole. He has been put on Lasix to get the excess fluid out his lungs so he can breath, the best part is that it is pineapple flavoured

To celebrate this new and to celebrate him turning 6 weeks old he climbed a mountain (although dad did most of the work)

and a better photo showing the backdrop

IMAGE(http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss157/apspittles/Baby/2012-04-02153909.jpg)

He's not letting life get him down, He's ready to start seducing the babes...

IMAGE(http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss157/apspittles/Baby/2012-04-04152005.jpg)

Hope that goes well for you guys.

Which mountain is that?

I'm going to take that as the best kind of omen. Keeping it all crossed for you and yours from me and mine.
