Borderlands (catch all)

Uhhg... Just tried to start playing this and the default FOV & slow performance made it unplayable for me. Looks like i'll have to fiddle with those recommended FOV hacks & -dx9 parameter. Oh how I wish adjustable FOV were a standard.

I was thinking I might play a bit of Borderlands this weekend but I remembered that I'm kind of stuck. I'm doing the Moe and Marley mission but I was having some trouble with my sniper character. Would anybody be willing to join my game to help out (PC)? I think I'm around level 15.

I can't help with actual co-op, but (after looking up that quest on the wiki) I remember it being a pain in the ass as a sniper. I think I had to do a lot of those "close up, nowhere to snipe from" quests with powerful shotguns and rocket launchers.

I'd be willing to take a crack at it. I'll need to check if I have any characters in that level range. I think most of my early level ones are in the mid twenties I think.

My Main was/is a sniper and I remember having the most success if I cleared out the canyon along the left side from the entrance and then slowly swept towards the center. Sometimes you can get lucky and draw one of them into that long straight area while the other one tries to find a path.

I'd be happy to help. Message me if you see me on.

I'd love to hop in and do some co-op. I even think I have a Brick at around that level. (If not, it doesn't exactly take long to get up there.) Find me on Steam, or make an announcement in the Borderlands group.

I finished this game up on the xbox. But, got it on the PC, and notice I didn't played for quite a while..

So, for Coop, do you guys use Gamespy? I remember with my first copy version 1.00 (bought the game 3 times, 1 disk, 1 xbox, 1 steam..) I was using some kind of virtual Lan, like Hamachi or something else. Do you guys use those now? was the Gamespy networking fix?

gamespy is how I always connected for co-op.

Invite to the Steam Group? Steam Link in sig.

I am redownloading that game, and I want to finish the DLCs.

invite sent

BTW, if anyone wants to suffer through the Underdome, I'm more than game. I've completed one set of the small tourneys on my Brick and am certainly willing to do them the second time or to suffer through the marathon of the long tournaments.

Ya finished the first one and I'm like, uhhhh, seriously? There are longer ones?

They give you a lot of value for the DLC if that's what you're looking for.

I just tried Underdome for the first time today. I don't "get it", but perhaps it's meant to be more of a multiplayer thing. It doesn't seem like there's a lot of incentive, though I guess it's nice that I can drop off those too-high-for-me leveled guns I find with the Claptrap there.

Yeah, I gave it one shot. The setting was neat but oh my god that's an insane time commitment.

Yeah, that is usually what does it in. I liked the idea and had fun with it. But after a while it's just the same thing over and over, not even the random modifiers to a round mix it up enough to keep it interesting in the long run.

Yea I got tired of it pretty quickly too. I ended up creating a second account on my Xbox and leveling a character to 15 (the minimum for that I think) just so I could breeze through it with my pre-cap-increase level-capped Lilith just so I could get the achievements. The long ones still took a few hours each that way

It's not you, the Underdome just isn't very good. That's why you also get the bank and the extra skill points in that package: because the excellent presentation can't hide that it isn't any fun.

I think B2 just became my most anticipated game of this year, pushing out Diablo 3. My favourite part about the announcement, though, is getting back into the first one. Great, great game.

I actually liked the Underdome, I just didn't like it for a series of three four-hour commitments. It's just a horde mode with some crazy stuff thrown in, and I had lots of fun when it came out. That being said, I just finished one of the arenas just because I happened to pop on when a friend was literally about five minutes from finishing, and have never been inspired to try again.

By far the weakest of the Borderlands DLC, but I still think I got my ten bucks worth of fun out of it.

I have new games to play... so why do I keep wanting to push a new character through to the last DLC instead of just using my level 61 Hunter?

So I thought I was done with this game, but then the B2 announcement came and in the same week, a friend of mine whom I had given B1 GOTY last fall asked me if we'll ever get around to playing it. Turns out he was on the same boat of the game not quite cutting it for him singleplayer, but being very appealing otherwise. Long story short, after 6 hours well spent last weekend, we're now sporting a Siren (him) and a Hunter (me) at level 21, about halfway through the second zone. Second Wind indeed.

With regards to DLC, I though about doing Zombie Island and Mad Moxxi at 30ish and then Claptrap and Knoxx after we've beaten the campaign. Thoughts?

That sounds reasonable.

You may also wanna add your name to the GoogleDoc.

Me too please? I'm considering finishing the DLC before 2 arrives.

EDIT: Scratch that, forgot I was already in the group

I've been meaning to try this out for ages, and the BL2 trailer finally pushed me over the edge. Having fun so far, I just found a shotgun that shoots electric rockets. If anyone ever wants to do some low-level co-op with a complete noob, hit me up on Steam.

I'll tell you what, though: I'm loving the Zombie Island DLC, and I'm generally sick to death of zombie content. The whole setup is done quite nicely, and I think even the fact that it's a palette swap from brown, orange, and more brown is a sigh of relief in the middle of my game (currently running a level 25ish Roland).

I couldn't remember the end-game for the main campaign (I kept expecting to hit the damned High-way sections), but I guess that was DLC and I'm actually approaching the last few missions. I'm hooked again.

hum you accept a newcomer? Think I'll do a Roland toon.

Well, guess I'm level 1..

Well, never had the chance to play more of that game, but with Borderlands 2 around.. My Roland is level 10. And I want to clear up the DLCs, even if it break me.

Add me up on steam, see profile in sig.
