PAX East 2012 Catch All & GWJ Meetup

He'd be confused with a certain Enforcer if he did. Plus he'd have to be seriously tall to make that visible above the crowd.

Let me work something up this weekend and send you what we're looking at; that way you have something to show them. If they like the idea they can option to buy it from me.

I could be tempted to get one from you for a few bucks dependent on cost. This will not be the last time I want people to know I'm a friend of Stan's.

I also think it would be fun to have buttons made (big ones like 5"ers). I taped a print out to a Intel button last year but it would be nice to have a real button.

Wait, we're not all coming dressed as Stan this year?

The thought had crossed my mind. A suit, a fedora and a Quagmire mask would do the trick.

Giggity. Also, we'd be guaranteed to be left alone at our table

I am thinking about buying a copy of Risk Legacy specifically for PAX East. My hope is to play a game or two, and then leave it with GJW people so that it gets played a lot during PAX. With any luck it will reach a "final" state by the end of the weekend, and I can put a big sticker of Stan on it and call it "GWJ PAX East Risk Legacy". Does anyone else think this could work out?

That's an absolutely brilliant idea, but I don't know if there would be enough time to power through it in one weekend... How many games does it take to reach a final state?

According to Board Game Geek, 15 plays should get it finalized.

This came through on Twitter today from our Head Enforcer, PrincessRedDot:

A bigger PAX E means I need more Enforcers! Still craving applications for show crew: http://bit.ly/xSIoyu Apply & RT for great justice.

If you know someone awesome who wouldn't mind hanging out with the crew and giving a few hours of labor each day to get in, have 'em fill it out! Instructions are in the document at the link.

Skipping concerts this year I think. Need to play more board games.

That's the decision I made last year, and I don't regret it at all.

I also plan to join the roster of Goodjers planning to sequester themselves at the board games. Missed out last year and I came to regret it.

Definitely would help those of us who've not been to a meetup yet.

I've gotten a Friday pass and am considering a Saturday as well. (Easier to get out of work than it is to get a weekend day free from the family, you see.) Is there a general "here's where you can find goodgers during XYZ time" guide anywhere?

We had a hashtag on twitter - it was either GWJ or GWJPAX or something like that. Generally there will be a contingent of us in the boardgame area at most times.

This is true but it would be nice to have a visual cue so you don't walk around the boardgame area staring at people weird and making people uncomfortable

We had non-Goodjers to do that last year

Just to let you guys know - we're getting ready to run out of Saturday passes. Less than a thousand as of yesterday.

If you know someone who was trying to be there that day tell them to get on it ASAP.

This is really approaching fast!

I want some kind of Chewbacca-esque bandolier for all my portable devices while on the floor.

May I suggest this or a combo of this and any backpack/bag of your choice.

Or there's always something like this, if you're up for the pricepoint.

I think last year I was just using Eddie Bauer travel pack for holding my DS. I might be running around with a DS loaded with TWEWY to see what I can find alongside my 3DS for StreetPass, but I haven't decided yet.

Also, I don't think it's been mentioned yet but they've committed to staying in Boston through 2023, in case anyone is thinking about what to do next year.

Back to the flag idea:
I couldn't find anything that worked the way I wanted it and was still airplane transportable. While talking to a friend though he suggested bicycle flags; I haven't got around to checking these out in person. Does anyone have one; if so do you think it would work?

Depending on the material maybe you could mail it to your hotel room in advance? Or get it printed at a local Fedex/Kinkos? I'm pretty sure there's a bunch of those not far from the convention center.

I'm thinking more of the "pole" itself; flags are nothing to me. Carrying a coiled up fiberglass pole onto an airplane...well lets just say I don't want to test the TSA.

If you want I can give you my address and you can ship it to me. I'll drive with it there and can bring it back to you an MinPenCon in May. No flying needed.

I don't imagine the flag itself is the problem - it's the stick, right?

Hey all. I think I may have posted here before but its been a wile. I will be at PAX on both Friday and Saturday and would be looking to do at least one social/networking event on either night if there is a get together. I would be interested in playing some board games but man do I have a tough timing figuring out which one lol? Hope to see some folks there.

Risk Legacy has been delivered to my house. I would totally love it if it became the "GWJ PAX East version", so anyone interested in playing some Risk Legacy and leaving their mark on the game is welcome. Are Certis and Elysium coming to PAX East? If so, it would be AMAAAAZING to have be two of the initial players.

Does your Friday night D&D next game need signups in advance, or can I just sit at the table? Also, I *should* have a copy of Lords of Waterdeep by the time PAX rolls around.

They will probably be trying to seat players in groups of 6 as fast as they can. If we move over to the D&D area in a group, and have 6 players ready, I should be able to just grab them and take a table. They haven't traditionally done sign-ups for PAX, but there could be an NDA that complicates things this year.

I am dying to play Waterdeep, so that would rock!

Count me in for a D&D next group. Also for LoW. Also also for Risk Legacy. Aww hell, just count me in for EVERYTHING!

I'm not sure about D&D but I will try and swing by to say hi to people at the board game table if I see the Stan signal. In terms of board games I'm really hoping WizKids will be there with the new Quarriors! expansion, and checking out stuff at the Steve Jackson booth.
