Guild Wars 2 and GWJ: Launch Date And Final Beta Weekend

I'm a semi-actvie player. I still need to finish up Nightfall, but keep getting distracted.

I'm playing again when I have time. Finished Heart of the Shiverpeaks last night, pretty tough with a hero team. So I'm getting to the end of EOTN.

The Eye was bustling, but there was only one English server listed, so the population isn't massive.

You're at the same spot I am. Good luck with the second area where you meet the norn, I always wipe there and I think I'll need to revise tactics before I go again.

How does eye of the north compare to factions and nightfall?
Looks like the hall of champions or whatever its called requires it so I may end up buying it anyways

I haven't finished Nightfall, so I can't comment on that, but I liked it a lot more than I liked Factions

Hmmmm, I'd say EotN is kind of a cross between the missions of Prophecies and Nightfall. It's designed around reasonably good level20 play, although from level10 you get a buff to help you up. It's supposed to be the fastest way to level 10-20.

It's also worth bearing in mind for the hall of monuments, you need EotN to qualify, but a lot of the awards come from the other campaigns.

Eye of the North is worth getting. The Hall of Monuments is nice to have going into GW 2 and it's got some interesting missions.

Basically it's more Guild Wars, that can only be a good thing.

Scratched: I should be doing Destruction's Depths on Monday night, if you catch me on ping me and we can try together.

Also, I can give you that pig you wanted.

I got the dragon this year so I'm less worried about it now. I don't have a problem with going H/H, in fact I prefer it so I can go AFK if I need and don't have to worry about pace. I think the bit that's blocking me is just a matter of strategy.

Heh, that's a much cooler gold pet than a warthog.

I also need to focus on winding up some campaigns and going back to do bonuses.

I know some people are striving to go 30/50 or 50/50 GWAMM with the HoM, but I'm kind of content with my 15/50. There's still some I can reasonably expect to do with my casual non min/maxing approach, and whenever I get around to them I can just pick up the reward when I do it, rather than GW2 day one. I'm by no means close to '100% completed' GW1, but I feel I've just about done it for my satisfaction.

Yeah, I'd like a few more points for my Hall, but I just want to finish the campaigns for my own satisfaction. The bonuses would be a err.. Bonus.

I'm also super casual. I don't have any special armours, I stick to the cheapest Max armour, and I don't farm.

The funding for my prestige armours came from selling festival items to those looking for various titles. It always amuses me when I see some HoM guide that starts off saying how easy it is, and then quickly tells you to 'simply' grind, or a shopping list of skills to capture to use a template heroes build, so you can 'quickly' get 30/50.

It's great that HoM is there as an optional thing for completionists, but it's easy to go to the dark side of achievement systems where you 'must' do them and it turns a game into a job. It'll be interesting to see how GW2 handles it with their gamer friendly manifesto.

Dammit, I have dug to deep into the wiki and watched way to many gameplay videos. Now, I have no idea what class I want to play as they all look exciting.

I'm the same Arovin. I'm pretty sure a guardian will be my main, but there's at least one thing about every class that seems badass.

I really want to find some footage of the Elementalist Conjure Axe and Greatsword Elite skill. Depending on how they look I might go the route of using a conjured weapon based Elementalist. Mesmers in general seem awesome and was my main class in GW1 so I might stick with that. I also have ideas for a Greatsword using Ranger, a Charr Necro and a Norn guardian.

20 Things You Don't Know About Guild Wars 2 (PC Gamer)

Very silly video but did include a couple of facts I did not know before.

Yogscast's Profession Spotlights so far:

Necromancer:

Engineer:

Mesmer:

Thief:

Oh, forgot I missed the Thief. I'll have to check out that tomorrow. They also put up Part 1 of a video about WvW, but it's just an overview that most people who've somewhat followed GW2 will already know about.

They have 2 parts up on the WvW:

Part 1:

Part 2:

Assuming there are defensive towers to cast spells from, a necro and elementalist would have a field day with that WvW mob

I only own Prophecies and Factions and need to finish both. I'll be playing evenings this week as "Mixol Jita" and would like to get an invite back to any somewhat active guild. My last one booted me for inactivity. I'll be running the client as a non-steam app if you want to find me through there.

I can't promise a huge amount of activity at the moment, but people do seem to be jumping back in so I sent you an invite. I take it the account reset worked ok?

My account is fine, it's my wife's that needs a reset. I sent them an e-mail, but they said they could only work through her, which makes sense. But she doesn't feel like getting back into the game.

I'm at this point too and can't get Cyndr with using just the hero's I have. I might just have to give up here as it's too frustrating trying to beat this guy. I've tried using all the necro life stealing stuff I've read about but it doesn't seem to kill him fast enough before I wipe, again, and again, and again. It doesn't help that I don't have Nightfall for all the other hero's.

If there's a GWJ guild out there I'd love to join. I don't play too often, maybe once a week or so.

Yeah, you probably need more heroes. I eventually did it with 2 touch rangers, a necro, an interrupt mesmer, a warrior, two monks and myself, also a monk.

I did wipe a couple of times still, I ended up with 23% DP.

I'm going to be pretty short of time in the next few weeks, and timezones may be tricky, but if you like we can try set up a time to try get you through there.

Give me your account name and I can send you a guild invite.

Just finished watching the WvW videos and am completely in love. I think this will easily be my favorite part of the game. I really like that some thought went into the "information warfare" angle of the game and that good strategy will involve scouting the enemy activity and reporting it. I hope that they add some more gameplay elements in that direction. I always loved the tactical Mechwarrior MUXes and EVE online for the same sort of thing. I see myself having at least at two characters geared toward this gameplay, maybe more.

The really nice part about that is being able to jump right into WvW just after the tutorial. You're auto-leveled to 80 and your *actual* level goes up as you play. So if you really just want to play a class in PvP, you can do that no harm no foul, and still have something to show for it outside of the arena.

Anyone know if they've worked a template or fitting system in, yet? So you can save a particular skill/trait loadout and return to it later? I think they added that go Guild Wars 1 after release. EVE added saved ship fittings after release, too, I think.
