Fitocracy Catch-All

Challenge accepted!

So I did a fair amount of working out over Christmas break but completely forgot to log any of it...acceptable to do so at this late date, or just say "screw it" and move on?

I'd say it's valid, as long as you log it against the correct date.

I don't think Fitocracy will let you log anything older than two or three days old. Unless they've changed it, you get a message about needing a time machine.

So I'm on fitocrasy. Doing weight lifting for the first time.
How do I join the GWJ group?

My name is SecretAsianMan4.

Be gentle, I know my bench, dead, ect is light. I'm getting there...

Also, the cable machines at my gym don't have actual poundage on there.
They just say 6,8,10...
So I'm primarily just guesstimating there.

The talk about this combined with the recent arrival of a treadmill in the house got me interested. I found a code on the webs and was able to join as Rahmen. Any suggestions on features that may not be obvious on the first log in? For example I've seen graph tracking on similar sites for progress but didn't see it right away here.

I think it's more like 5 or 6 days, but they are pretty strict on logging in a timely manner. I know i've missed out on logging a few things because I forgot to do it for a while and it wouldn't let me when I finally remembered to do so.

Graphs are under Profile: History tab. They've got a reasonable number of options and controls. Another thing is there's an 'Other' category for weightlifting, cardio, bodyweight, and dancing. If you do any exercise that isn't listed, those are a good way to log it.

Try "Don't Sweat the Technique" on hard over and over again, getting 4.9 stars until you finally crack that 5-star barrier. If that isn't a workout, I don't know what is.

No doubt! On a related note, I think the calorie tracker is seriously underestimating how much I'm moving.

Thanks Miashara and I've joined the GWJ group (I think it was a simple as hitting the join button for those asking)

Y'all got any of the invites left? As a trade, check out http://www.strstd.com/, a great site for designing a strength program. I did it for 6 months, then backed out to a more 3x8 or 3x10 for the last few months, but I'm going to get back into it. Just do yourself a favor, and first month, pick the 90% of max - I found it less discouraging.

I've got invites. PM me an email if you still need one.

Oso is getting me hooked the heck up. Thanks Oso!

I have a few more invites available as well. PM me an email address if you need one.

The challenge motivated me to get my arse back into gear. Been feeling under the weather the last week, and finally said screw it and decided to work through the ickies. Had a good first day of it too, 3 miles, some pushups, and 45 minutes of Taekwondo.

Now if I could only figure out how to actually join the challenge and get my points to count...

Joined, and I have ten invites. Anyone want to gamify their deflabbification? Message me your email address, and I'll happily shoot one over.

I'm sincarne if anyone wants to friend me. I'm ever so lonely.

Most people respond positively to being followed in Fitocracy & typically follow in return. If someone called EvilHomer started following me in real life, I might be worried, but it's a good thing in Fitocracy!

I'm following everyone who crosses my path. Thanks for all the props, all, hoping I'm being appropriately judicious in props-ing in kind.

I seem to be levelling up awfully quickly. Is that normal, or am I doing something wrong? I'm already level four, and all I've done is walked 22.6km.

The levels get progressively harder. You get to level ten pretty quickly, but it starts to slow down after about 15.

I have 4812 points to go before I make it to level 19. That's like running a marathon.

Points got all changed around for lifting. My warmup and cooldown sets were the highest-point exercises of the day. If there were people exploiting it, they may have felt they had to change things. Still, it's surprising how far in the other direction things have gone.

I wish they showed progress toward achievements. They obviously know how far I've run, but I can't find any sort of total number.

I just got an invite and signed up as georob. This is pretty cool. My run earlier today brought me up to level 3 already.

reading this thread makes me want to try out fitocracy... anyone still have an invite available?

Sure, lots of invites available. PM me your email.

I've still got invites also. Happy to share.

Helpful hint if you use a treadmill that has an incline option. When tracking your activity the tiny fonted 'advanced options' is your friend. Hadn't seen this until tonight. No matter since I'm mainly using it to stay consistent but from the point standpoint it's a lot of lost opportunity for me.

Okay, I'm going to create the next challenge; something that'll start on the weekend. Feel free to chime into the GWJ note that I sent and let me know what you think. I'm inspired to read the stories of you fellow Goodjers who want to overcome the past. I'm right there with you.

The latest challenge is online:

Spring Triathageek Challenge (Feb. 27, 2012 - March 31, 2012)
Challenge Type: Triathlon Challenge
Description: One activity isn't good enough for you? How about three? See who can get the most points from running, swimming, and cycling.

Just like playing Galaga, but instead of murdering bugs, we're running/biking/swimming like Zombie 2.0 is chasing us. He moves ever closer to that grim fate: Making you listen to his Star Trek fan fiction.

No. You deserve better than that. Join us. Beat him.

This challenge will last for almost precisely a month - weekend to weekend. May the highest point totalers avoid a fate much worse than death.

I need to up my cycling game and get consistent if I'm going to ride another metric century in June. In.

My shins hurt if I run (even on a nice cushioned treadmill), but I may log treadmill walking as very slow running workouts, for the sake of points. And really, I know running is a good workout, but I never enjoy a minute of it, so I have no motivation to get better at it. Those of you who run -- and like it -- what do you like about it, and did you like it from the start? I always feel awkward about how I'm placing my feet, how I'm waving my arms around, and we won't even talk about how annoying sports bras are.

I would appreciate an invite.
