Jagged Alliance 2 remake in 3D by bitComposer

I managed to kill off all the folks outside of the building with relative impunity, but the folks inside have bunkered up. The bay doors are wide open and I should be able to trace line of sight to the folks in the back with my PSG-9, but the interface doesn't seem to allow me to fire into the interior of a building unless I'm actually inside the building.

If I had a rocket launcher (some sonovaFemale Doggo would die) I would love to be able to lob a rocket straight through the open bay doors and into the crowd waiting at the end, but the game mechanics don't seem to allow that.

Press 'f' and you can shoot at a point you select (a good way to get stupid kids out of the way when they are blocking the door ). It shows you a line if I'm not mistaken. I did this once trying to shoot through a wooden walls of a cabin but I guess they were reinforced or fox just have bad aim with an AKM. I eventually got wolf to spray them with his Saiga . Using grenades works well against groups and campers. Grenades force them to move.

As I said I was partially forced to restart the game ( saves stopped working) but my progress is ok. I recently bought a ton of grenades and I got Bull to haul stuff from the airport to Cambria. I also sent my two amazons to do some hauling .

By the way , where did you find a 20X scope I thought the max was 12X ? I also read that Malice has good potential to become a sniper because of his high dexterity.

I'm kinda itching for sector inventory so I slowed down my game play a little. I did have to defend my sectors against some mean opponents but what stinks is that they rarely drop any guns. I know I can get guns at Bobby Ray's but it's more rewarding to loot it off an enemy .

I'm downloading this now. Hopefully, I'm not disappointed.

Okay. I went back up to San Whatever to try to talk with the drug lord, but there isn't anyone up there with a ! over his head. I talked with all the blue folks and none of them were anything special.

Also, I brought a demo charge with a timer to Maddog, but all he says is "I know you have the explosives, but you didn't bring it with you". I have them on me, but apparently the mechanism is broken.

Out of boredom, I attacked the barracks and harbor. The crazy lesbian gave me the rocket rifle and I managed to loot a couple PSG's off of some bodies, so I had no trouble clearing out the grounds before I had to enter the building. The rocket rifle and hand grenades made a huge difference ad I managed to clear out everyone but the folks holed up in the bunker without taking an damage. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the key to the bunker doors and I can't seem to open them with either lockpicks or crowbars. And there is no place to place a demo charge. I tried blasting at it with the rocket rifle, but nothing happened.

I'll comb the grounds for the key, but if I can't find it, I might just need to leave the barracks in their control.

Started with Grunty, Barry, and Fox. I found a shotgun which I gave to Barry. Hungarian hijinks ensued.

Okay. It appears I can't find the person I'm supposed to find in San Whatever and the mechanism for recruiting Maddog is broken. Out of frustration, I am just going on a destructive tear and taking over towns. The barracks next to the docks was impervious because I couldn't find the key to the bunker door, but I managed to empty out the base of pretty much everyone but the 6 or so folks in the bunker. I am cutting a tear through Alma right now.

Just for giggles, I ran Red and Wolf up to the roof of Alma prison and all hell broke loose. About 8 guys decided they absolutely needed to try to run up the ladder in the courtyard to get rid of me. They all managed to bunch up right at the foot of the ladder and Red with his modified 98 explosives skill tossed a single frag grenade that bounced against the wall and landed right in the middle of all of them. That killed all but one of them who was limping with a red health bar but still gamely climbing the ladder. Wolf kacked him with a single round from his auto shotty.

After that, Red descended the stairs and planted no less than 6 mines in the copse of trees near Alma's front gate. MD, Malice, and Wolf were on the roof now with PSG-1's and a Remy bolty. Steroid was set up in prone with a Minimi. Blood was similarly prone with an FN-FAL. Red then retreated to a nice vantage point, and fired a rocket from his rocket rifle that blew the two gate guards into little bits.

Once again, the hornets' nest was stirred and armed supporters of the dictatress came pouring into my field of fire. The first was an axe murderer who got whacked with two simultaneous headshots from Malice and MD. The next three were irregulars with Tec-9's who ran in a group into the woods and were blown up by the first of the mines. Next, a heavily armored regular hit another mine. Then the next 6 irregulars were mostly mowed down by Steroid's belt fed automated death.

I just hope I can still win the game even though I'm not following the storyline at all. Even if I can't, I'm still having fun zombie hunting.

Do you have the mission from rebel leader to talk to Kingpin in San Mona? He'll be in his mansion either way, but he won't have the "!", and you won't be able to have a conversation with him until you have the mission from the rebel leader.

Just took over the Farm west of Cambria....

Spoiler:

Holy sh*t! There are a lot of awesome guns in the basement area. If you haven't taken this spot yet and need weapon, do it now! It's a little tough to take, but definitely worth it if you can!

I met the rebel leader and talked with him. He offered to support, but I don't remember him saying anything about meeting the Kingpin in San Mona. Is there something else I was supposed to do? I freed Cambria and am using it as a forward operating base currently.

Wait until you see what's sitting at the Depot, San Mona, or the Barracks. With all that firepower, it's a wonder the bad guys can't just destroy you.

And don't forget about the diamonds. :P

Try going back to the hideout and talking to him again, see if he has anything else to say.

I have three teams right now and am finding that the biggest commodity that seems to be running out is armor. In particular torso armor.

My three teams are as follows:

Wolf
Red
MD
Malice
Steroid
Blood

Ivan
Igor
Grunty
Buns
Nails
Bull

Spider
Raven
Vicki
Meltdown
Buzz
Scope

I'm able to scavenge just about everything I need with the exception of body armor, which I keep having to make trips to the airport to pick up.

Holy crap does the CAWS shotty rock or what? In Wolf's hands, that thing makes him downright frightening in buildings.

How does it compare to the SPAS-12? I've considered upgrading my entire shotgun squad with them once I get the funds.

It spanks the everloving crap out of it.

How useful are the militia? I have tons of surplus arms to give away and figure I should probably arm the militia with something. Are they mostly a deterrent force?

Also, I am tearing a freaking swath through the island nation and am noticing that the counterattacks are increasing in frequency and ferocity. The latest was just about minutes after I took over the prison and was executed in concert with another attack committed against the depot the the far west. Good thing I had three full teams and was able to retake them before they became a problem.

Until i took the Southwest SAM site, the counterattacks almost always went after Cambria, so I always kept its militia large and well-armed. they've repulsed several attacks, but almost always take significant losses. Its nice to have someone there to keep the enemy distracted long enough until i can get a squad there. especially since tanks will respawn after they've re-secured a location.

Okay. I got the meet the kingpin mission and have figured out how to recruit maddog now. I made the mistake of figuring that I could recruit folks who hate one another so long as they aren't assigned to the same team. As a result, steroid is pissed. Oh well. I guess i'll just have to bring in grizzly to make him happy.

The counterattackers are getting tougher and I'm worried about the first tank I encounter since I don't exactly know how to deal with them yet. I have taken a few gambles since taking over so much territory has meant I'm spread pretty thin. I figure I need to secure my flanks, but doing so leaves me exposed while my forces are cleaning up.

I have four more mercs on the way. I just hope four teams will be enough to hold enough of the island whilst I deal with the mission objectives.

I've read you should upgrade your guns to 7.62 NA or at least AKMs. The guys with armors are hard to take down with 5.56 /5.45 . I'm not that advanced but I started upgrading. I only captured Cambria , San Mona and Drassen. I started using mine to defend Cambria it worked the first attack but on the the next one they managed to dodge them ( I did a little replanting) . I should just plant more ;).

My teams are :
A
Wolf-Spas-12 but CAW was delivered (along with some akms)
Fox- AKM + 4X scope
Barry - L85 + 4x scope
Malice - PSG-1 +12X scope
Raven - PSG-1 +12X scope
Shadow - PSG-1 +12X scope
B
Spider - L85 G41 +4x scope
Ira - AK-47+4x scope
C
Bull the mule
E
Iggy -haven't figured out what to do with him yet so he's the secondary mule for now...

My teams look like this so far:

Ivan: AKS 74 with Eotech
Igor: AKS 74 with Eotech
Grunty: RPK with reflective sight
Buns: Automag with silencer and AKS 74 with reflective sight
Nails: SPAS 12
Bull: AKM

Wolf: Bolt action sniper rifle with 12x scope, CAWS shotty
Red: M-14 with 12x scope, automatic rocket rifle
MD: PSG-1 with 12x scope, knife
Malice: PSG-1 with 12x scope, knife
Steroid: FN-SCAR with 4x scope
Blood: FN-FAL with 4x scope, FN-P90, knife

Spider: G41
Buzz: Steyr Aug with reflective sight
Meltdown: Minimi, Rocket rifle
Scope: Bolt action rifle with 12x scope
Raven: M4
Vicki: M16

Shank: FN-P90 with Eotech
Dynamo: Bolt action rifle with 12x scope, SPAS 12
Ira: M4 with reflective sight
Maddog: LAW rocket, knife

So far, the team with the most experience is definitely the one led by Wolf. They are busy cutting a path along the East Coast. The next group is Ivan's, which is trying to do what it can along the West coast. The chicks will have to hold the center while the volunteers work scavenge/cleanup and emergency response. Dynamo is pretty much the only one in that group that can hit anything.

Wow. Talk about a deluge of recruitable characters.

I managed to recruit Iggy and Devin just as I sent an invitation to Grizzly. Now I have more than four full teams. The payday for taking out the city was sweet, but I thought for sure that it would be tougher than it was. Once the infantry was neutralized, the tanks were sitting ducks. I don't think either one got a shot off before Red toasted them with his rocket rifle. Now I need to find a place to cash in all this looted jewelry.

Meltdown is having a hell of a time with her RPK. Machinegun expert with the RPK is complete rudeness given how ubiquitous 5.45 ammo is. Now that my A team is so ridiculously overpowering, the B Team is almost more fun to play.

Do the traits "pistol expert" and "shotgun expert" actually make the character faster with their weapon? I rushed a room with Nails and Buns armed with an FN Shotgun and fictitious .308 Automag and they seemed to be pretty wicked fast on the draw when compared to the guy crouching with an assault rifle trained on the door.

I could very easily have just tossed a grenade in through the door, but I wanted to see what Buns could do with that ridiculous pistol. At pointblank range, she shot the dude in the head before Nails could even clear the doorway.

I'm not sure about the effect of specialization I heard it raises your marksmanship which makes you shoot faster.

It's silly but if someone is crouching they can't use "snap shots" like in running stance. Yesterday I took Alma and had wolf clean out the last people inside - they posed no opposition.I told him to rush in and give them a burst or three using his CAWS .

I Used some of your tips about the roof ;). Those enemies still like throwing grenades which made it a tad more dangerous to mess with them. On approach I told my snipers to sync triple headshot at some of the guards . I also thought of a new tactic to get armor . I triple legshot one of the guard which killed him but I doubt I got any armor from him.

I didn't get an MG or RPG yet I might get meltdown soon. I want to get some of the diamonds I sold for a quest so I was conserving cash for now.

BTW isn't it a waste of talent to give Raven, One of the best snipers, an m4 carbine?
other than that is there any advantage for using carbine over full size assault rifles in the game? They probobly have lower aim time but their range is somewhat limited. I read that the TAR-21 (looks like the shorter barrel CTAR ) has both a high fire rate( I think it's 700RPM in game) and long range (38~). Someone said he used Famas (named backwards in game) because it is closer to 900RPM .

Okay. I recruited Hamous and I think I'll need to team him up with Shank. Shank's Scrounger trait along with Hamous' Bargainer trait look like surefire ways to make some needed cash. Maybe I'll team them together with Bull and a decent mechanic so I can haul and repair stuff before selling it off.

I noticed that they gave Raven a ridiculously silly rifle. I ended up giving it away to the local militia and buying the .50 Barrett in the airport hanger for her instead. She only has 50 rounds for it right now, but I figure that her 94 marksmanship will prevent her from wasting too much ammo.

Scope is in the same squad and I have her armed with a PSG-1. Meltdown, Vicki, and Buzz are armed with RPK machineguns. I think I'll probably just park them out in the desert where the enemy squads tend to come from and go gopher hunting. The only slacker from a guns standpoint in that whole group is Spider. But since she's the best medic in the game, she gets to slide.

I'm finally starting to get a feel for this. Plan and Go is the primary game. Figuring out what color hat to put on your bullet sponge is the secondary game.

Can you kill tanks with hand grenades or do you absolutely need rockets?

I just did an assault on a convenience store that I thought was worth talking about. There were two baddies inside armed with short range weapons and the only accessible point of entrance was the front door. The back door was mined and I didn't have a defusing kit with me. So I set up my two machinegunners on the far end of the parking lot and lit up the front of the building while running my assault team (Nails and Buns armed with a shotgun and pistol) to either side of the front door. After that, Nails and Buns tossed in a flashbang each and ran in.

The first baddy was right in front of the chip rack and Nails lit him up with the 12g. He didn't go down immediately, but Buns tagged him from pointblank range with the Automag in the head.

The second baddy was hiding behind the drink rack. Buns ran behind him causing him to turn 180 degrees while Nails ran up and shot him in the back from pointblank with the shotty. I realize that that was the Polish firing squad that just about EVERY tactical instructor tells you never ever ever ever ever to do, but it worked in the game and was cool.

Paleocon wrote:

Grenades will definitely damage the tank. If you can take it out with grenades alone? Not sure. Maybe with 2 or 3? Probably depends on how well you place the grenade etc.

I suspect that all depends on your explosives skill. I ran out of rockets so i rushed the tank and tossed a frag grenade at it. Meltdown had a modified explosives skill of 98 and the grenade brewed it up on the first hit.
