GWJ BCS League, Season II (360): BCS Bowl Week (League Deadline: 4/4/12 @ 11:59pm EST)

Not last!!!!!!

Rutgers puts a spanking on Pittsburgh 30-7 in front of a packed house at Heinz Field. Pittsburgh's lone score came on a sack fumble, as the Panthers' offense failed to record a first down until 2:30 left in the 3rd quarter. Rutgers improves to (2-3) on the year.

Wow. Heck of a defensive performance!

Big Hoppa, you out there? Just give me a shout out.

Ah, what the crap? I played my game this weekend, but it locked up after I exited out of the game. I was hoping it still took. I really don't want to play that game again. Mizzou spanked me pretty bad, picking Pachall off 4 times in the first quarter. I benched him for my junior QB, who then went down for 4 weeks, leaving me playing a redshirt freshman who actually did better than both of them, but still threw two picks in the last three minutes of the game.

Up to you if you want to sim it. I can try to play it again tonight, but that may not go over well with the Mrs.

For the sake of the league (and your marriage), I will sim the game. If you lose, no worries, if you win, bonus for you! Also, your junior QB shouldn't be hurt anymore.

Rolling the league now.

*EDIT*
TCU wins 21-14. Call me cupid, bringing Big and Mrs Hoppa closer together on V-Day.

Thanks, Kush. Apologies to everyone for holding things up.

CLARENCE MILLER SIGNS WITH BOSTON COLLEGE?!?!?!?!

OK, I know this is a 1-star FB, but the guy soft committed to RU, had Rutgers #1 the entire recruiting process, and was coming for a visit this week, why would he sign with BC? Oh well, nice job snatching him from me Willhouse.

Sorry to hear that Kush. Maybe you can find a 2 or 3 star ATH and move him into the FB roll.

Zell, I am dropping out of the competition for Harry Martindale (4-star WR). He's all yours. I have him coming to visit in Week 10, but it's not even worth trying to pass you. I'm sure I'll be cursing his name the next couple of season when we square off.

No Human vs Human games = 5-day Sim Period (Get your games in!)

I would like to thank Kush for the valentine's day gift of that FB. Now on to other things. BC beats NCSU 42-35. The game started off bad with my QB throwing a pick and the wolfpack scoring on their first drive. I was able to tie it up and right before halftime be up 21-13. NCSU was able to tie it up before half time. My defense did get a nice goal line stand but could not seem to stop the big pass play and one big running play. My QB threw 2 picks but did throw 3 TD to make up for it. Running wise my team did ok only able to really brake one big run but was able to at least keep the ball rolling. After NCSU brought the game within 7 by making it 42-35 they actually recovered the onside kick which one of my players kicked right to them for some reason. My defense made a stand got a turnover on downs with a big sack and I was able to run out the clock to advance to 6-0 and 5-0 in conference play. Hopefully witha couple of upsets I can move up to 1st in the rankings.

You're welcome. It's a wonderful life..............get it, Clarence...........nevermind.

*EDIT*
I just instant committed a 4-star WR, so I'm so over Clarence Miller

ND picks up only its second commitment of the year. But this one is nice: David Graham, 5* CB.

So, one 5* CB, one 4* DE. The rest of my haul will be good, but not spectacular. I won't get LB help this year, but the secondary will be in good shape with two 4* CBs and a 4* safety from last year, plus 5 and 4* CBs and a 4* SS from this year (hopefully).

The rest of my schedule is interesting. I have three (hopefully) easy games (Ilinois, Pitt, BYU) followed by three very tough games (TCU, USC, Boston College). Should be fun.

You can take TCU off that list of tough games. My defense is completely useless this season.

would have been nice if they quit when you played Marshall in the Championship last year, lol.

Well, you play Minnesota this week. I found that's a cure for most woes.

I think your ND team is my last human v human game this season at least regular season wise. I really hope my offense comes back by then because right now I'm a little afraid of how it might go down.

ND beats Illinois, 31-17. It wasn't a resounding win by any stretch. I got greedy twice and silly once, which led to a 3 INT day for my QB (one returned for a TD). My passing game has had a rough go of it the last few games.

I have to say, it feels like the penalties are too high somehow. Any punt or kickoff return that went for more than 10 yards resulted in a flag (holding or clipping). The stats aren't correct as reported. They say 4 penalties, but that is about the number for normal play, not kickoff or punt returns. I had at least 4 penalties on returns. My opponent? None.

I may try to dial it down VERY slightly next season, I have noticed the same thing myself.

Eh, you got bad luck is all. I think my top two corners graduated last season.

Tennessee goes into Chapel Hill and wins 21-14. Carolina had the ball 4th and 5 at my 6 with under a minute to go but the QB was sacked to seal the win.

Bring on Alabama!

LEAGUE DEADLINE: Saturday, February 18th @ 11:59pm EST

NC State (XBox) at Boston College (Willhouse4078): Boston College wins 42-35

Cincinnati (XBox) at Rutgers (Kush15): Rutgers wins 13-0
TCU (Big Hoppa) at Minnesota (XBox)

Bill Bonney needs to recruit as well. Quick week so far!

Rutgers hangs on to beat Cincinnati 13-0. Rutgers was cruising along after taking a 10-0 lead midway through the 2nd quarter. But on a series right before the end of the half, Chaz Dodd was hit hard, and knocked out of the lineup for the next 3 weeks. Nova came in and ran an effective offense, but failed to score more than 3 points (should have been more, super sonic fast LB picked off Nova in the red zone). Rutgers defense was stellar, causing turnovers twice inside the 20 yard line. Rutgers defense has now gone 8 quarters without giving up a score, and will need to keep playing lights out to help Nova as much as possible.

Last again? I'll have to get it in tomorrow night.

C'mon Hoppa. Bama is waiting to get beat by Tennessee!

Game played

First I would like to congratulate everyone on the season so far...most of us are in the top 25. I dont feel quite so bad losing to BC who is now ranked 2nd in the nation.
ND is 4th
Mich is 6th
UGA is 13th
Tenn is 19th
WVU is 25th.
Not bad all things considered.

Back to the game. To start things off, SU jumped out to an early 10-0 lead but back to back long TD passes from Smith to Nehlan/McCartney put WVU up 14-10. SU responds with another ten points to put it 20-14 at the half. WVU comes out and scores on the first drive of the third followed by another SU td. 26-21 SU leads at the start of the 4th. The Mountaineers again drive down the field for a td/2pt conv for the lead. SU kicks a long FG and its now tied 29-29. The next drive Smith throws on 3rd and long for an INT. Strangely, Nassib returns the favor the very next play and with that, the rout started. WVU scored 3 unanswered TDs for a 50-29 victory over the Orange. Whew.

Also...Kush. That ****WR we were after just committed to WVU after this win. In case you cared.

Wink Martindale? Nope, since I now have two 4-star WRs after another one committed this week, which is why I was willing to let him go

Zell, how do I put this: The University of Rutgers and I would like you to go f*ck yourself (JK)

Hahahaha! Nice.

ND grabs a 5* ATH (WR or CB), and 4* QB in one week!

Not that you could see that at the website -- the recruiting pages are borked for me.
