Final Fantasy XIII-2‽ Catch-All

Awesome. I'm glad to hear it. Thanks for the news. It's taking all my self control to keep mine in the shrinkwrap until this project is done. I can hardly wait.

In the case of these large RPG's, I prefer savepoints. I try to manage mine to make it possible to play back through specific sections of the game at a later time. This means I can't do that.

Good news: You can!

It seems that they took the branching timeline stuff from Radiant Historia, so you're able to reset specific sequences at will in order to replay them.

Also, if you want to have multiple saves, it's possible to do that as well. On the Timeline screen, hit X, and you can create additional saves.

Wow. All of these features are almost making me angry that FF XIII was so lacking. I actually really enjoyed FF XIII but, from what I have heard, this is clearly the game it should have been.

Excellent! Radiant Historia did so many things right!

It's funny, aside from the story tie-ins, you could easily call this FFXIV, it's so unlike the other game.

They Crystarium is....complicated. It seems I'll be perma-building. TIME TO LOOK IN MY GUIDE!

Yes, I am SquareEnix's Female Doggo. Even after FFXIII didn't dazzle me, I was all, "Please, sir! May I have another?"

One thing I am in awe of (and this is from the guide) is how

Spoiler:

Pulse Knight as your sentinel makes the beginning of the game almost laughable. I made the mistake of building Noel Sentinel, when I should have dumped it in to Commando

This is all good info, guys. Keep it coming. At this point all I can contribute is my relief that Noel shaves from what I've seen on the videos. Does anyone know if Snow has figured that out yet?

I haven't seen Snow anywhere. I think he's dead or something. To be fair, so far, everyone from XIII is dead excepting Lightning. But it deals with Time travel or changing so, you know, wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff.

Thought I read somewhere that Snow is away looking for Lightning at his lady's behest. This may have been in the demo codex.

All I know is he isn't with Serah and they're ambiguous about where he is or isn't.

Launch is tomorrow morning morning in the UK. Very excited!

Those wacky British - they have two mornings.

Gaahhhh.... Sorry gang. Shutting up entirely now.

Except for you, Spider. That's awesome.

How else can you get away with 2 breakfasts? They're the most important meals of the day, donchano?

Oops. Well, I suppose I have the bit where I get up at home, and then the bit when I actually wake up at work, 40 miles away and an hour later!

Edit: I would swear that I asked this up-thread, but can't find it now!

I played XIII on the 360. Is there any reason to continue on 360, such as a benefit to having a save for XIII when starting XIII-2?

You get *something* for having a FFXIII save. I honestly have no idea what I got, but it gave me something.

I also heard it doesn't do as much of a recap at the start. Or do I have that backwards?

Yikes, if I grab this I might have to delete my XIII save then, I'd desperately need a recap, as I'm only part way through XIII and probably won't finish it at this stage, and can barely remember what happened in what I did play.

I actually didn't hate Hope and Vanille as much as everyone else, but the linearity was a chore, I missed having towns to break up the pace a bit. Sounds like XIII-2 might be up my alley! But yes, will desperately need a recap...

What kind of idiot knows he'll be sucked in for at least a month by Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning starting Tuesday, then orders Final Fantasy XIII-2 to be delivered on Tuesday?

...

See, I had $42 in Amazon credit. And they're still giving that $20 credit. So I can use that toward Syndicate, which also has a $20 credit. And then Armored Core V...

Don't judge me!

The kind of idiot that realizes that neither one will rot so waiting will not hurt them, and you can work them both into your schedule as the times may try.

Chaining Amazon discounts is the path toward madness. Trust me on this.

God, I sound like a freaking apologist, but there is a recap, and you can select it on the main screen.

Is anyone else starting to feel overwhelmed by the number of monsters in their party? Who should I level up? And how does the attribute "cute" help me at all?

It's funny, the guide has an enormous section just on monsters. I guess this was fan service to an extent to give you more customizable party choices throughout the game, but ya it's mostly just overwhelming to me.

Your mission is to have a behemoth in your party. I would think this is the obvious goal. Don't overthink things!

A tonberry would be a nice start. Perhaps a malboro, if you like to fight dirty. Get on it.

Cactaur!!!!

There are too many benefits to slaying Cactuars for me to, in good conscience, endorse not slaying one.

I played last night for first time. I probably got 3 hours? in. I am really enjoying this game. I like the time travel stuff. The monsters kind of overwhelm me because I feel like I need to keep them all leveled up, it is too much.

I feel like the difficulty is harder then the last. I just got to the dark area where you fight behemoths if you do not stay in the light. Then got a quest to kill a behemoth... I can not kill one, I die every time. Even with a Sent and Medic... bleh!

I'm torn between strictly following the guide and just bull rushing through. I'm leaning towards rushing through and then guiding it up next playthrough. The only reason I guide it up is because I tend to miss a lot when I go on my own.

I did not buy the guide, but part of me wishes I did. It is really frustrating when you can see a little bouncing circle treasure waiting to be opened and you can not figure out how to get to it. I have spent an hour at least trying to get to a few of them. FRUSTRATING!
