PAX East 2012 Catch All & GWJ Meetup

Another quick note: Recruiting!

If anyone missed a 3-day badge and doesn't mind a little work (one 6-hour shift each day), they are recruiting Enforcers right now. You can get this year's application here.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me.

See, I like him, but I don't know that I like him enough to schlep across the state. I'm a lazy bastard. And I never remember to check his tour schedule, so I didn't realize he'd played Northampton.

I think there's a show in Northampton in March. We were thinking of going but it's so close to PAX that we're not going to bother.

RSS feeds are your friend (or signing up for his mailing list)

Could I get a lift? I plan on leaving Thursday, so I can attend first thing Friday, and have a 3 day pass. Are there any other drivers along the way that have the space for another person, plus their belongings? I'd be bringing a sleeping bag, medium size suitcase, and a dufflebag + backpack (perhaps another bags).

Skipping concerts this year I think. Need to play more board games.

That's the decision I made last year, and I don't regret it at all.

I would generally agree but there was a lot of room last year... maybe we could take a game or two up there for a bit of ambiance?

We went last year, not sure about this year. Skipped them the first year due to needing to catch the T and spent most of the time playing board games instead which was a lot of fun.

We are going to be skipping them this year since we are going to be driving in and out each day.

I just saw JoCo openning for TMBG a month or two ago (which was FREAKING AWESOME). I'd mostly be going to see Paul & Storm.

Nice. Which leg of the concert? We saw the Great Barrington show at the Mahaiwe back in September.

Totally agree. I hope getting back to a hotel across the river after midnight is not too problematic. Closing out the convention on Saturday last year was pretty cool.

Umm ... slightly freaking. That's the show we were at.

Haha cool. That was a fun show, didn't meant to freak you out though

Planning on hitting the tabletop area quite a bit more this year. Help me out — is there a planned schedule of games, or do folks just kinda show up and jump in?

There's not a schedule, there's a raft of goodjers. I plan on doing evenings back at the hotel with games mostly though.

So I think I want to get my wife a one-day for Saturday, even though she plans to spend her Boston time doing other things (not a gamer). I think she'd dig the classic arcade if they set it up again, and we know JoCo's bass player from the Loser's Lounge tributes here in NYC so she might dig the concert, and she's always game for Rock Band in case that happens somewhere.

I'm not sure whether I should register from scratch under a different email, though. I can make additional purchases under my original confirmation code, but it looks like that second badge would still be in my name and not hers. Does that matter?

We'll usually have a table or two to ourselves. If it's like last year, expect there to be a batch of us around at any given time. Twitter is the best way to hunt us down - I think we used the #gwjPAX hashtag.

Shouldn't be a problem to do it under your email, but if you feel more comfortable, use a second one.

Thanks, guys! Also, please tell me there will be a way to at least spectate somebody's Warhammer 40K tabletop battles. Maybe I can get a side-gig commentating in Imperial Gothic....

I remember there being vast Warhammer tables set up in the board game area (hangar might be more appropriate). I don't see why this year would be any different.

Cool. Upon further research it seems the badges aren't specifically name-linked in the way I supposed.

A question for momgamer: Is there any prohibition on bringing signs to the board game area? I'm thinking of whipping something up to alert fellow goodjers as to where other goodjers are and given the chaos of PAX a sign seemed like a good idea. How does a small vertical banner stand (3ftx1.6ft) with either Stan's face or just GWJ on it sound?

I don't know, but I'm not the one to bug. I think know who is and I can ask him. I assume it would stand on whatever table you guys were at, right? You'd have to play around it, that way, though.

I was envisioning some that could clip tot eh back of a chair; that way your not taking table space. Something on a flexible rod; I still need to look into this more.

You guys come up with what you want to do, and I'll run it up the flagpole at that point. I will say for myself hooking it to the chair sounds like a much more do-able solution to me.

Now that I think more about it I agree with you and Tigerbill. I could bring some spring clamps to attach it to a chair.

Is that what you want me to run up the pole to the powers that be?

I personally think you should get a beanie and attack a flag from a small poll. It would be fun to see you walking around with it on!
